  1. Congratulations mate! Can you please advise which email you used? Am also desperate to have my ceremony as only my husband and younger son got their invitation but me and my older son received nothing regardless how many times i tried to sort it out on the phone.
congratulations again and best of luck

  2. My husband called DOHA today asking them why him and our young son only received the ceremony invitation while myself and our older son have not yet, they linked the applications together (though they were supposed to be linked as per what we have stated in the applications) but no guarantee we can do the ceremony together.  So bummed:(

Hi all, I had the citizenship test on 29th Sept and got approved and waiting for the ceremony. During the interview the visa officer mentioned I can take part in a virtual ceremony and I said am happy to do that. Still no news on ceremony, has anyone had similar experience or being invited for a ceremony ? I applied from NSW.

    Hi Everyone!

Just a follow up with the new status on my citizenship application! My application got approved today (Passed the test on the 4th of Nov) and I definitely will write a letter to the department which takes charge of scheduling ceremony dates so that it happens within 2020! Fingers crossed.

    Citizenship App: 17 July 2020
    Test Invitation: 26 October 20
    Original Test Date: 4 December

    Re-scheduled Date: 4 November
    Approval: 13 November
    Ceremony: TBA
Council: Adelaide (SA) / City of Campbelltown Council

Can you tell me please the address where you gonna send the letter to? Am really desperate to do the ceremony before end of 2020

Thank you. Yeah I went through all the posts in this forum and I could easily notice that SA and WA are the fastest states to get test appointments. The officer I met in the DHA Adelaide advised me that it will take around 3 days to a week to get an approval as they are still waiting for my police clearance records (Passed the test with 100%). So I am just waiting to get approved and will write a letter to the ceremony department to attend or do a virtual ceremony and receive the certificate ASAP as I am devastatingly hoping to get home builder grant! Fingers crossed

I am on the same boat with you , waiting for ceremony to apply for the home builder grant as it is our only chance to get our first home 😞

Hi Guys, finally received the Golden email today for the Virtual Citizenship Ceremony. Would like to know if we should explicitly reply to the email confirming that I'm okay with the given date/times and am willing to attend the VCC.

Congratulations..am glad knowing they still do the virtual ceremonies.. hopefully same for us at Sydney.. congrats again

Quick update - Just had my citizenship ceremony today (23/10/20).

Ceremony was done at local council offices with about 23 applicants.

We were split into groups of 3 or 4 and then each group made the pledge, before being presented with a certificate and a bag of goodies.

Next step - Apply for Australian passport!!

    Citizenship Application: 12/1/2020

    Received Invitation for Test: 20/7/2020

    Test Date: 5/8/2020 (Passed)

    Received Ceremony Invitation: 1/10/2020

    Ceremony: Done on 23/10/2020

    City: Perth

    Oh congratulations! Pretty quick ☺

Thank you, very helpful information wasn't sure what was the next step so thought the letter would explain it all. Thank you @coquette

Am waiting anxiously like you.. we were hoping to become citizens before December so we can apply for the home grant lol . However I believe it is little too early as the waiting time is approx 6 months from date of approval. The letter is really generic says you are approved but not a citizen yet until you pledge in the ceremony which may take up to 6 months : good luck for all of us 🙂

Yeah waiting anxiously because our council has a ceremony at the end of this month so we are hoping to attend that one.

I believe the invitations are handled by the department depending on the waiting list.. 2-4 weeks prior to ceremony date you should receive an invitation from DOHA to attend at your own council

But I'm worrying about it. In the appointment letter it says if you don't have originals reshedule the test. I asked my parents to send it urgently but not sure. Have you done for your test without having original birth certificate?

When we did our test at Sydney CBD office, the officer asked me to show him every original document that i attached to my application , same for my husband and son.. i think you go and explain the situation and see how you go

I noticed that my local council Fairfield, Sydney are holding in person citizenship ceremonies again. Just thought I would share as I had only heard of them happening in Perth.

I checked mine at Bayside council, yeah they recommenced. Not sure if that is good or bad as i hoped virtual one may be quicker to get ours

Just a quick update i have finished the test today at the Brisbane city office, it was a straightforward and easy process, the officer reviewed my application online and only asked to see my QLD drivers license and i was made to sit the test, i cleared it and the officer said he was satisfied with the application and he is approving me for the ceremony.

He told me there is a 5-6 month wait for the ceremony , hopefully i get it by April 2021 latest, anyways looking at the current situation doesn't look like we travelling international anytime soon..

Congratulations! Was it also approved on the immi account?
