  1. Does anyone have any idea of what's involved in moving my cat from Vancouver to Sydney? I'm looking for a rough cost (including quarantine cost), timeline and vaccine requirements etc. Thank you!
  2. Hi all, Does anyone have any recommendations for a shipping company? I need to ship one pallet of stuff (or probably half a pallet) with my personal stuff, things like clothes, ski gear and a road bike that I dont want to sell and buy again. I'm hoping for something less than $1000 by sea (not in a rush). Everything I am finding online is either for 20ft or 40ft container, but my stuff is wayyy less than that. Thanks!
  3. Assuming that job opportunities are the same for your discipline in all of the designated regional areas (SC491 visa), where would you chose to live and why? Thanks
  4. thanks RD and how long did it take from your initial EOI submission to the state to visa grant? I know this is variable and hard to predict but I'm trying to get a sense of total timeline.
  5. Hi all, From the date of being awarded a 491 Visa, how long does one have before they have to arrive on Australia? What kind of a window is provided to move before the Visa is cancelled. Thanks
  6. Hi all, I'm an offshore engineer and I score 90 points for a SC189, 95 for a SC190 and 105 for a SC491. What are my chances of getting an invite for a 189? what about the others? An agent told me today that Australia has permanently terminated issuing skilled visas to offshore applicants and that my chances are slim. Is there any truth to this? Also for my own benefit, which of the three visas types is the best? Thanks
  7. I'm wanting to put in an EOI for 190/491 offshore - civil eng 85 points - open to all states. Does anyone know how I can be notified of when the state program will open? Can the agents provide some insight on how they make sure they get in when the states open for their clients? Do they add the states on social media and turn on notifications or do they just check each state every morning? I understand that sometimes states open for a couple hours only to accept EOI so how do agents make sure they don't miss that window of opportunity for their clients. I want to make sure I'm notified of that so I don't miss an opportunity. Thanks
  8. Hi all, I'm wanting to ask my future employer to apply for a 482 for me. Is this visa suspended at the moment due to COVID? Does anyone know when it will be active again? Thanks
  9. Who are the regular agents posting to the forum? I'm new here and still figuring things out. Thanks
  10. hi Yall, Does anyone know what the effects of being refused a 189 visa are? Would I be able to re-apply for a 190, 482 or even the 189 again? The reason for refusal would be overclaiming EOI points and failure to provide supporting documents to prove points. Thanks
  11. Hi guys, Can anyone recommend a skilled migration agent to deal with my 189 visa application. I have an issue and I need expert on point advice... I just got an invite to lodge my visa for my 189 EOI (90 points) in Civil Engineering. However, I just realized that I may have overclaimed 5 points related to Australian work experience. Here's the issue: I worked for an Australian-based company in Canada for many years and in 2012 I did a year long secondment with them in their Queensland office. I was physically present in Australia for 11 months and after the 11 month mark, I moved back to Canada to work with my home office. In filling out my EOI I thought I could claim one year of Australian work experience because even though I only spent 11 months in Australia, I spent the 1 month back I was back in Canada still working on Australian projects as part of the project handover phase. Now I realize that to claim the 5 points for Aus experience, you need to be physically present in the country. I need to consult with an agent to figure out the likelihood of rejection and if I do get refused a visa, how it will affect any future applications like the 190 or temporary 482. I don't if the location of the agent matters but I'm based in Canada and I can't find too many people here online.
  12. Hi Folks, I just got an invite to lodge my visa for my 189 EOI (90 points) in Civil Engineering. Now I realize that to claim the 5 points for Aus experience, you need to be physically present in the country. Should I proceed with my application? An agent that I consulted with told me to take the risk, as the chances of invites ever being issued post covid are quite small. I feel like the likelihood of rejection is very high in my case and I don't want being refused a visa to go on my records and affect my future applications (for example for an 190 or temporary work 482). Many Thanks
