This is not correct. It's been open for around 1 month now. Actually, I had my test in the Sydney CBD office last week. They seem to interview 3-5 people every 15 minutes, as I can see.
Well that is great news! How do you know about the 3-5 minutes stat? From watching the queue when you were there?

Hey guys, I called up (on govt citizenship phone line 131 880) about the slowness of processing in the Sydney office this morning. The gentleman on the phone said that despite the Website informing us that the office has been open for a while, in actual fact it only opened for citizenship tests this past Friday. I’m not sure if he was completely in the know, but I thought I’d pass this info on to you...

Please can you tell us what they say?

Huh, I wondered if you guys have seen this?!
Incredibly high drop in the amount of people being granted citizenship. Obviously Covid has a part to play in this but do you think they will make up the numbers?

Hi guys,
I have a question - recent a few days ago I tapped on and got on a train. But did not observe the low balance on the tap on card in a hurry to get on the train. It was checked and got 200 fine for. Does this need to be added or notified on citizen ship app ?
Thanks guys
i would pay the fine and forget about it.

Hi folks,
I was under the impression that as of August 11th I would be able to apply for citizenship. However when going through the initial application page I get a message saying "Based on information held on Departmental systems the applicant does not meet the general residence requirements."
I arrived in March 2015 on a Holiday Visa, got a Bridging Visa for a 457 in November 2015 and was granted the 457 in January of 2016. I was granted Permanent residency on August 12 2019. My belief was that as of August 11 I would have met the criteria of 12 months as a PR and had 4 years in the country.
The only reason I can think of where I do not meet the general residence requirements is that when swapping from a 457 to a partner visa, my 457 was cancelled, and I had to reapply for a bridging visa E to stay in the country in Sept 2017. Looking at this info, is anyone able to give advice as to when I would meet the general residence requirements?
If you phone the department they can give you the exact date that you will be able to apply. You need to give them your passport number etc. I had to do this as I had so many different trips outside of oz that i couldn't calculate a date.

Hey guys,
Does anyone know of good resources to revise for the citizenship exam? Is there an up-to-date app from the government or anything?

Can you not rescan and add it after submitting? When I go to my application it looks as if there is the option to attach documents.
Yes! Amazing thank you so much pearplumpie! Hoping for a quick processing time for me but I'm guessing there's going to be a huge backlog of people waiting after Covid has delayed everything

My understanding is they count time in the country. They will count the time before PR towards Citizenship in the last four years but will not count anytime that you are physically out of the country. If that's what you mean...
