  1. To complete…

Esta approved and valid until Oct 2024

application and process quite straightforward even for a tech phobic like me.. aside from ID details it’s mainly a series of yes/no questions to answer, pay your money and then wait…

  2. Thank you so much, I eventually found the Qantas site which is much clearer than the British one. As UK (and Aus) are included in the visa waive scheme an ESTA is needed, costs $21us and has to be applied at least 72 hours before departure 🤗

  3. Hi,

have valid visitor visa for entry in to AUS. Usually travel via East/ Singapore/Dubai etc.

This time flights are via USA. No intention or plans to leave the airport..

Do I need a visa ? ESTA?? Neither???

    many thanks

  4. Thanks Tulip 1, that’s reassuring. My NHS digital one arrived early this evening, and I have printed copies so that should suffice🤓

  5. Hi, good news re the pre-departure testing now no longer required 🤗

I’ve encountered a bit of grit with my DPD, be grateful for some advice/thoughts.

I need to upload/attach my vaccinations certificate, I have the travel version from the NHS, the problem is I have a two page paper copy and it won’t let me upload more than 1 page. I’ve tried scanning and zip them but the site won’t accept this.. 🤔 Am I missing some obvious fix??

I’ve applied back to the NHS for a digital version but not sure if this will be with me in time, my other thought if I can only attach 1 page will be to attach the one with details re vaccine 2 of 3 and 3 of 3 on the basis it’s implicit I’ve had the first 😳

and will have the original paper cert with me… TIA

  6. I’m flying via Singapore so I believe at the moment I’ll need proof of vaccination but not  vaccinated travel pass as I’ll be in the Singapore Vaccinated Travel Lane. I will re check nearer the time (fly on 25th April 🙌).

  7. Hi, sorting out documents for my trip later this month and wanting to check I’m not missing anything.

I have a valid passport and e651 visa.
I need to do my Digital Passenger Declaration (DPD) 7 days before departure.

    Need Vaccination Certificate (already requested)

PCR within three days of departure (or supervised Rapid Antigen within 24 hours)..

HOWEVER on the website it states:

“pre departure testing requirements will be removed for all passengers arriving/transiting Australia from 18 April 2022.

    If this happens I’m assuming I won’t need PCR/RA??

    thanks 😊

I am so frustrated and confused as to the process and reasons for delays. They say they are prioritising those with exemptions but this is clearly load of rubbish as I have my exemption and I am still waiting on my eVisa which I applied for on 20 January so ahead of this person who doesn't even have an exemption. I did it in the right order; eVisa first so I could include my TRN on the exemption and also included my Visa Grant Number from a previous visa this apparently helps. Exemption came through a few days after I applied and have gone in and updated the eVisa with a copy of the exemption but still nothing.

Obviously it is great that you have the eVisa but how can they say they are following a process when they clearly aren't. I have never had an issue getting an eVisa before and my daughters ones were granted in minutes. We fly in 2 weeks but I might have to cancel if we don't get anything soon.

Have emailed the address someone earlier recommended but not holding out much hope to hear anything back which is also frustrating as when you know people are getting theirs granted quicker and without an exemption in place it makes you wonder if there is an issue but as no one has requested anything and no one will talk to you, we are left in limbo.

    Sooooo annoyed and stressed

That sounds really tough, hope you get good news soon..

My understanding from what people have shared on PIO was visa first, then put visa number in application for exemption, I don’t know if that is a key difference?

Believe you could potentially  buy a house but you would have to pay a large sum to get permission to buy as a non -  resident And you have to pay a bigger percentage of stamp duty as well. Google FIRB - foreign investment review board for more info.  Not sure but also think it depends on whether it’s new build or not. You also have to have private health insurance and would not eligible for Medicare and need to show proof  you are able to be fully self supporting. The processing  time Before all this happened was around 4 months and your sponsor needs an income of around $84000. As has already been said you have to leave Australia for 3 months in order to apply for renewal . Have you already applied for 143 and when? . If you haven’t  already applied new applications are likely to take  8-9 years

Thankyou, so much, i’ll have a look at the FIRB website.. can you advise me where the 84k figure comes from?? 🤓

Just keep in mind that you need to leave the country for 3 months before applying for the next 870 visa and depending how long the processing is at the time, or whether they have reached the yearly limit, it will mean that you will need to have somewhere else to live outside Australia every time you renew. OK if you do, but just something to think.

Thankyou, I wasn’t aware of that... definitely something to consider...

  11. Hi, I appreciate all is up in the air at the moment, appreciate some thoughts/advice. I will be looking at applying for this visa next year, supported by daughter (has PR). Confident I meet (currently 🤓) the health and character requirements etc.
Is there a wait time for this visa??

Can I buy a house (cash) on this visa?

Also looking at 5k for 3 years or 10k for 5 years (maximum of 10 years) it seems the 3year (x3) is the most cost effective, or are there other factor I need to evaluate?? Many thanks

  12. Hi,

I am in Queensland (Townsville) and trying to get home to the UK. Singapore Airline (who I flew out with) have announced a “rescue” flight leaving from Sydney. I’m trying to confirm whether I can fly from QLD and transit through Sydney airport, or will I have to quarantine for 14 days??! Obvs if that’s the case I’ll pass on the SIA flight and travel via Brisbane. Thanks

  13. Hi, I’m the opposite but identical scenario in that I’m  the old fella over from UK staying with daughter and family on 651 visa, so good for three months, been here for 3 weeks. Flight home is today with and via Singapore, which is shut for all including transit... SIA are clearly swamped with calls so can’t get any news as to when/if..

my plan is to sit tight and see what occurs, rather be here with family than stuck in transit. I do advise they “register” with

    Canberra.ConsularOffice@fco.gov.uk

full passport name; passport number; DOB and Aus state currently for official updates. (It’s my first post, please be kind 🤓)
