    Hi Kris9,

Congratulations, that's awesome news! A relatively short wait in the end 🙂

When did you receive the invitation to the online ceremony? And was it in an email? As you may remember, I applied (and did the cit. test) only shortly after you, so you have got my hopes up!

    All the best,

    Greg (Brisbane City Council)

    Hi Greg,

I received the invitation on 2nd Nov for the Ceremony on 6th Nov. Yes, it was through an email. I also know of about 4 or 5 other guys who had their VC on 6th all from the Brisbane council. Hope you receive it too. All the very best.

    Kris

  2. Our citizenship journey finally came to a sweet end. Just finished my online virtual ceremony (with my son). So, happy to get the opportunity to attend the virtual ceremony and become the citizens. It was a long journey. I wish the best for all of you. Just hang in there and you'll reach the destination.

Can we just apply all together on the 22nd? We're not really rushing given the back log in VIC, we know it's going to be a long wait.

And for cases like this does my husband's application need to be separate or we can lodge as a family?

    Thanks!

In my experience, it's always for the best to wait for few days after the exact date of eligibility, to apply for the citizenship. I've seen numerous cases where people have just rushed in, applied on the day or the next when they were eligible and got cancelled after paying the money, because the calculation was either wrong or due to some other issues. I personally waited for 3 weeks before I can apply, but suggest, atleast a week, to be in the safe side.

Your husband can apply for all of you in his Immi Account. You and your husband will have two different applications and either of you can include your 2 yo in your application.

    Hi,

Anyone went for the test without having original birth certificate in our own language?

Now-a-days due to covid, they aren't asking for or checking any original documents except the ID card (Passport/drivers license) at the test/interview. Atleast this is what has been the case for me and for many others I've known.

Am married and my wife just got PR after 2 years. Am a single applicant for citizenship as my wife still not eligible. I have all other original documents with me except marriage certificate from India. Unfortunately,  it's in India. Is it a mandatory document as I have not changed my names since birth.

If its just you who's applying, then you don't have to worry about the Marriage Certificate, since you haven't changed any names.

We received our letters of Invitation to Interview and Test on Friday, I was quite surprised how quickly this came through as we only applied in May this year!

Is it normal for my wife and I have interviews on 2 different days, she's on the Thursday and I'm on the Friday? We applied at the same time through her IMMI account and I just assumed that we would go to the interview at the same time.

    Citizenship App: 02-May-2020
    Test Invitation: 09-Oct-2020
    Test Date: 13-Nov-2020
    Approval: TBA
    Approval Letter Rcvd: TBA
    Ceremony: TBA
    Council: Gold Coast, QLD

Perfectly normal to have interviews at different times

Hey all, and Kris in particular. I recently received the test invitation, too 🙂 Congrats on your test.

    Citizenship App: 12-Feb-2020
    Test Invitation: 25-Sep-2020
    Test Date: 16-Oct-2020

    Rescheduled Test Date: 2-Oct-2020
    Approval:
    Ceremony:

    Council: Brisbane, QLD

Thank you and all the very best for your Test/Interview. I was there today, and it was really pleasant experience for me. Read lot of negative reviews about DoHA in Brisbane, but my experience was entirely opposite. Very friendly and helpful staff.

  9. Just finished my Test/Interview in the morning and when I came back home and checked, the status says "Approved".

Now, the waiting starts for the Ceremony.

Do you know if we can contact the dept for the Virtual Ceremony now that its approved or just wait for them to update us?
