You will receive an email/letter from your local council about a month before your ceremony with details of where and when. This may take up to six months or longer, so now you need to just wait. If in the future, your ceremony gets cancelled due to covid, DOH  may send you a virtual ceremony invite.

Hi everyone,

I have a question about requesting an urgent ceremony if someone has experience with this. I am wondering if it is possible to request an urgent ceremony (virtual) based on wanting to apply for a government job that requires applicant to be an Australian citizen. I read somewhere that if you have a job offer conditional upon you being a citizen, then the department may consider that, however, in this case, the job description says the applicant must be a citizen to be able to apply.

Thought I would share my timeline after my application was approved today.

Citizenship applied - 08 June 2021

Test Invite received - 07 July 2021 for 05 August 2021. Rescheduled Test to 12 July 2021

Test Passed and Application approved in immi account straight after - 12 July 2021

Current location - Brisbane

Nationality - New Zealand

Now awaiting formal approval letter and ceremony.

Medical results and additional documents submitted : 7 Nov 2019

Visa Granted - 10 Dec 2019 (Application status - Finalised)

My visa nomination was submitted end of Sept and approved on 1st Oct then I applied for the visa. 

My s56 for extra documents (medical and police checks) were requested on 8th Oct.

I had medicals and 1 police check uploaded on 14th Oct and was waiting for my partners AFP check which I uploaded on 8th Nov.

So about 3 weeks as well and I haven’t heard anything further from immigration.
