How about south Brisbane such like Greenbank area? My concern is low crime rate, good schools, and jobs. Thanks

Thank you so much. But Brisbane is not included in regional so unable to choose that.

Try Ashmore Palms or Gold Coast holiday village. You used to be able to hire a cabin for 3 or 4 weeks at a discount price at Ashmore and the staff were great in giving you a point in the right direction. I know quite a few familys who used that place as a starting point over the years.

It is very hard to decide where to live based on internet research.   I would suggest perhaps taking a holiday rental for a few weeks when you first arrive, and go around and look at all the areas you think you would like.   We did this when we arrived in WA, and the area we now live was never on our radar as a possible place to live.  We stumbled upon the suburb on one of our drives and walks around different areas we had shortlisted, and 30 years later, still live here.

My son is now living on the Gold Coast and I visit frequently, and I think you might find that Southport is not an area that would appeal to you.   Do some research about suburbs on the other side of the M1 towards the Hinterland, or further south like Burleigh, Varsity Lakes, Robina, as I think you might find they would suit you better.

Thank you so much. I think I should possibly follow Yr idea of holiday accommodation n seee from there.

    Hi guys

Queensland is massive ,there are wayyy to many areas that would suit your criteria to list here without narrowing down the search a bit.

Take a look on realestate.com at property and rental costs and see if you can pin point a few areas you think you would like.. Have a think if you want to be near a beach, a city, or hinterland on acerage etc but more than anything look into were you will work and go from there. If you secured work at say Caloundra hospital you wouldnt want to be living miles away as commuting on the highway can be very tedious.

Qld weather is beautiful all year round, just avoid buying in areas notorious for flooding. You can view flood maps on the internet.

    Hope this helps a bit

    Thank you

My priority is good state, private or gifted and talented schools as well as but less crowd, descent place, lower crime rate, bit cheaper house/rent, hospital for my job.

    Is Southport flood risk?

    Thanks

Do you have to be in a regional area for the visa you have in progress? That would narrow the search a little?

Yes, except Brisbane anywhere. I've received today the invitation for visa application, thinking of southport, Gold Coast

    Hi,

May I ask if you have done the process yourself and did you hire an migration to do it?  I am new nursing graduate currently working my way to get the 491

    Hi,

I'm also in the process of 491as a registered nurse but didn't hire any agent, managed to get an invitation . It was quick. I applied on tuesday and invitation was on next Monday, 4 working days. I guess with the MA, could be easier but I'm able to manage myself.

  8. Hi there,

We are in the process of migration to Queensland from UK. I'm waiting for my state nomination, already received the invitation. I have three kids (11, 8 & 3) and I'm a registered nurse. I would like to know which regions/ suberb will be the best place to stay in terms of weather, kids state/ public schools/ good school and my job in hospital. I also prefer   not very crowded area. I'm keep searching and getting lost in here. if anyone has any ideas , could you please share and give suggestions ?

    Many thanks

  9. Hi guys,

it's so lovely to see all the queries, answers and positive vibes too.

I do have some queries too, if anyone can help me out.

I'm a registered nurse in UK for the last 14 years. I've also done the AHPRA registration recently, last year.

I've submitted EOI with 75 points including state nomination points for Regional Queensland, 491 visa on 23 February 2020. Does anyone have any idea which visa or which place is the best or appropriate for getting early invitation. I'm so much confused here.

    Thank you

  10. Hi there,

I,m a registered nurse in UK for the last 14 years.

I also have AHPRA. I've applied for EOI on 23 January 2020 with 75 points including state nomination and waiting for state invitation for 491 visa.

I would like to know if anyone has any idea about applying for nurse visa/ immigration. I mean which visa category is the best / suitable one. As in the latest rounds, I can only see other occupations invited and there is no-one invited from nursing.

    Many thanks

Thank you. I think I've to withdraw WA EOI n do another application for queensland. Am I right that we've to withdraw or suspend previously made EOI to do new application.

Thank you sorry forgot to mention that I've been working in UK a perioperative nurse since last 12 yrs.

WA: most jobs are on the graduate list only, meaning if your not a graduate with a WA University your out.

A lot of other states require job offer first. This is usually for people either on temp visas or graduates. It’s very hard to get a job from overseas as if they do offer you one, EOI can take weeks and the application can take months! No employer will really wait that long

QLD: don’t need job offer but they have very very limited quota. Have a go though!

It’s becoming tougher and tougher to be in Oz. When you do get there, it’s becoming more and more expensive to live.

    Where you from?

Thank you. I think I've to withdraw WA EOI n do another application for queensland. Am I right that we've to withdraw or suspend previously made EOI to do new application.

    Thank you

You are correct that WA are only nominating nursing positions in ‘genuinely’ regional areas ... in other words the State has decided to narrow the definition of regional and is aiming to enforce this through the job offer requirement. Details are on the WA website.

QLD isn’t asking for a job offer, but generally is looking for 5 years post qualification experience for all nursing roles. Again, details on the BSMQ website.

Thank you, I  think, need to try Queensland. In this case do I need to withdraw my EOI for WA.

  14. Hi there,

Does anyone have any idea about 491 visa for short occupationp/nursing. I applied for EOI for Perth. But recently I've come to know that each state has different subcriteria on top of common visa requirements. So it says need to have 12 months job contract for state nomination requirements. I'm very much confused and stressed. No idea, how do I find a job without visa as most of the employer asking for right to work in Australia for job position.

Also seems Queensland doesn't seem to need job contract. Can someone share any thoughts pls.

    Many thanks

  15. Hi,

Thank you. I've already registered with AHPRA recently in November. Now I've applied for EOI and waiting for invitation. Then I will apply for visa. I'm particularly looking for job as perioperative registered nurse, not sure how much the scope will be for this kind of job.

    Many thanks.

  16. Hi there,

I'm currently living and working in the UK as a registered nurse. Now, I'm in the process of migrating in Perth (will be working as Registered Nurse) , awaiting EOI response /invitation letter. So I would like to know if someone can help me with ideas/suggestions for looking for online jobs.

    Many thanks
