  1. Hey all, I had a consultation with a migration expert last week to go over my information just to double check i'm eligable for a skilled worker visa. Established that my occupation (599612 - Insurance Loss Adjuster) qualifies for the 190/491 and i have the experience to do so, the downside is i'm lacking qualifications to get a positive skills assessment. VETASSESS shows my occupation as Group D and has 4 different options to get a positive skills assessment; https://www.vetassess.com.au/Portals/0/Downloads/qualification_assessment/202111 Information Sheet - Insurance Loss Adjuster.pdf?ver=2021-12-01-150143-653 Right now, i'm trying to piece together a 3/4 year plan to make myself eligable to get a positive skills assessment but i'm just struggling understanding the equivilents (Aus - UK) I think the best route is option 2. Minimum AQF Certificate IV + 2 years experience (which i believe only count AFTER i get the required qualifications) From my understanding, the AQF Certificate IV in UK terms is an NVQ level 3? If not, i'm hoping someone corrects me. A little background info, i joined my company in 2014 as a trainee and became qualified in 2017 to which they only last 3 years but kept getting extended due to Covid but to be honest, you don't need any formal qualifications beforehand just a general knowledge of motor vehicles, i just had to sit a 4 day exam to become qualified. I don't believe this 'qualification' amounts to anything to get a positive skills assessment. I have a IMI (Insistute of Motor Industry) Level 1 in Motor Vehicle and thats as far as it went so obviously i need to go back and get more qualifications before submitting a skills assessment. If the minimum requirement is a AQF Certificate IV which may be a NVQ level 3, if i went back and got a Level 2 and Level 3 in Motor Vehicle through the IMI would that equate to the AQF Certificate IV and then from there i can i get further experience as 'qualified' to get a positive skills assessment. Luckily i can get these via online as i'm currently employed so i can't commit to full time education through the week. Failing that, on VETASSESS information sheet it shows highly relevant field of study including general insurance, loss adjusting, security, risk management and buisness. I've found a few 'diplomas' in loss adjusting and risk management that i could do online but again, i'm not sure if these qualifications would equate to the same amount of the AQF Certificate IV. I noticed that VETASSESS offer a document checking service/consutation service over a 30 minute phone call but i'm not sure if they would be able to tell me what courses i have to attend to get the required qualifications. If anyone has any knowledge on VETASSESS/AQF's then any help is much appreciated.
  2. So i finally had a consultation this morning to clear everything up - i should be okay, my warning & conviction aren’t against another human being so got given the thumbs up. Got told they’re clamping down on crimes including violence (which mine isn’t) It does make sense to me that the WHV agenda is maybe a bit more relaxed as theres a 99.9% chance they have to leave after 2/3 years as Ausvisitor mentioned but i got told to apply for a WHV just to confirm i pass the character test. I did get some conflicting info between the agent & Vetassess’ website on my occupation requirement so now i have to try figure that out…
  3. Looking at filing for a 190 or 491(get more points through 491) and i feel like i can meet the agenda to get a 191 after the 3 years. Only part that has me in a grey area from applying is i unfortunately have a UK record, (1 caution, 1 conviction) according the homeaffairs website, i don’t meet any of the red flags (no jail time, no specific crimes that they list) only thing is the ‘meeting good character’ I’m now onto my third migration company as nobody ever gets back to me to see if i will have any issues so i thought i’d post here just on the off chance someones been in a similar position before. I was thinking of applying for a WHV beforehand as i have to meet the guidelines for that so surely if i get accepted for a WHV for good character then i should for a 190/491?
  4. Hi all, I'm after a little bit of help and guidance please. So, i'm currently in the UK and my job is a 'vehicle damage assessor' - i guess in Australian terms that would be an insurance loss adjuster (Anzsco 599612) ? I went to college in 2009 and passed my level 1 in Vehicle Service and Repair. (i then had quite a few years of valeting cars so nothing important) I then found the job that i am in currently where i passed my Vehicle Damage Assessor qualification through the IMI (same as my college pass) (Institute of the Motor Industry) i started working for the company in 2014 but only became qualified in 2017 so i'm unsure whether i have 2 years experience in my 'skilled' work or 5 years? Both of my qualifications i guess are only a certificate in a trade? Anzsco 599612 is eligible for the 190 visa which means i would need a state sponsorship. After searching online there only appears to be 4 - ACT (states my occupation is not on their list but i MAY be eligible), NT (states my occupation is not on their list but i MAY be eligible) SA (States my occupation is on the supplementary list (when i search more into it, it states the occupation is not available to apply?)) and then Tasmania (states my occupation is not on their list but i MAY be eligible) According to Anzsco my occupation is a skill level 3. Everything i'm finding online is contradicting - could anybody confirm whether my qualifications are satisfactory for the skill level 3? Or is that what VETASSESS will have to confirm? Lets say that my qualifications/experience are okay enough for my occupation and i get passed by VETASSESS, when it comes to state sponsorship - i guess the chances of them sponsoring is minimum as my occupation is technically not on their list? I'm just concerned that if i get through VETASSESS and i get an invitation then i fall down at the state sponsorship. I'm hoping that someone could possibly clarify my situation for me as like i said, everything i find online just contradicts one another. Thanks, Tom
