Aren’t they usually update the Proccessing times at each months around the 20th’s?

    There hasn’t been any changes.

Yes, it's usually released by now. Sometimes it's delayed and occasionally they don't update it at all (but that hasn't happened since 2018).

Has anybody had a good experiance trying to call immigration in regards to status of application, if so how did it go?

    In a word, no.

In my experience, there is no way to call the Department directly. BUT if you are BOTH (a) over 2 x the 90% waiting time for your stream, and (b) also haven't been contacted at all recently by the department, then calling the helpline *might* result in them informing the department that you are over 2 x the waiting time.

If you don't satisfy BOTH of the above criteria then it is a waste of time calling - the number is not even for the department, just external phone answering service and they can see the basic status for your visa, but can't do anything. You can talk to them 'til you're blue in the face and the Department will never know you even called.

It's pretty much the same deal with all phone numbers, including employer hotline. Most call-answerers will not even take your name/reference numbers, even if you ask them to.

    Hi there,
My employer will sponsor me in sc186 (working in NSW for this company for 2+ years now) Do you have any experience with processing time since Covid19? The website suggests 61-82 days, but the visa agent told me it could be more than a year. I hope she is just overly conservative on this, but some clarity would be nice. Thank you in advance 🙂

Unfortunately clarity is not possible when it comes to visa applications. I'd guess it's most likely to happen within about 6 months, given the current processing times are quite low and a lot of folks on here seem to be within that sort of time frame.

But the truth is, it could take 1 day, or it could take years - or anything in between. There is no way of knowing.

Didn't you receive any S56 additional document request in between Aug 19 to till date?

Finally got S56 last week and already sent them the requested doc. But at this stage most of our other docs (police certs etc) are expiring in a few weeks, so I'm worried we are just going to keep getting S56 after S56 now, same as you 😫 have you tried calling on 13 18 81? We're over 4 x the longest published processing time now, so if it's been a while since your last S56 they might actually inform the department of your long wait.

Hi everyone, I hope everyone is doing ok and that your visa apps continue during these Difficult  times.
I was looking for advice on 186 visa. Boyfriend’s previous employer In Melbourne has said he is willing to sponsor him on 186 but he’s never done it before. He’s a small construction business. Do you know how complicated it is for the sponsor and if we will need a migration agent , and if you used one do you have any recommendations?

thank you and good luck everyone

If your partner or the HR person in the business has the time/inclination to do so, the actual application is not so difficult (providing no special circumstances). It's just a case of working out what documents they want, it's mainly straightforward. Having an agent is helpful but it can be done without, if you want to.

However, if/when the department come back to you with questions, requests etc., that's when you'll really feel better having an agent, especially an experienced one - it makes such a difference at that stage, in my opinion.

  7. Yes, multiple complaints, had to escalate since most avenues they actually refused to allow us to complain. There is no way to complain to the department, only to third party agencies manning the phones, so only option is to escalate to a different department altogether - also unhelpful.

Yes there's a CO, they refuse to engage with us, the employer or the agent.

If you have a look at the other thread, most people get a decision in a very short time and it's unlikely yours will go on for as long as mine has - you're still within the normal timeframes, so try not to worry just yet!

I’m not in similar situation. But i recommend you contact your agent or immigration department directly. I’ve contacted the department many times for different problems. They were easy to get in touch and very helpful.

What method have you used to contact the department which is easy and fruitful?

    @Swoop

Silence broken, received the record 4th S56 docu request at afternoon today.

Very interestingly Probably I could find the cause of the delay.  From the email received today I find, she is the 4th CO for my case. As a result, each time a CO took over my case and forwarded a S56 documents requests. So, its the 4th S56 request. What a (un) lucky guy I am!!!

    Any one lucky like me???

Wow @M A Z, that's so frustrating. I feel for you. What have they requested?

The only positive, like you say, is at least it's something, rather than just complete silence! I suppose it's nice to know you haven't been totally forgotten about.

Do you know how long it was between your lawyer speaking to them and the new S56 being issued?

@ Swoop, Thanks mate, you reminded me that I applied and now with you to celebrate 10-Month celebration. 😱😱😱

By the by, that day my lawyer informed me that he contacted about delay and the dept confirmed my case is under process. 😡😡😡

Hope the grant meets us all soon.

Do you know if the department actually checked your file when your lawyer contacted them?

Mine spoke to the department and just got a standard "10% of cases take longer than the published processing times" bla bla bla etc. They were not interested in actually checking what is causing the delay.

Congratulations... It looks like if nomination & visa is applied together, they both get approved together. Fingers crossed & waiting for mine, even though its only been a month 😛

Hi Sheb, unfortunately applying for both together does not mean they will be processed together. But hopefully they will!

@restaurant.manager I'll honestly be surprised if there are any movements here at the moment. Citizenship's look to have been suspended and I suspect this will roll over to visa's as well.

Hope I'm wrong but there is no official word on this yet.

Isn't the reason for suspending citizenships just due to the physical ceremonies posing a public health risk?

    https://www.sbs.com.au/language/english/australian-citizenship-ceremonies-cancelled-because-of-coronavirus-risk

Surely this does not imply visas will be suspended. There is no need to gather in a large group to be granted a visa.

Do you guys think that corona virus outbreak has any effect on 186 applications? We haven't heard even a single grant since last week. I am trying to make myself believe it doesn't have anything to do with visa processing. At least not any effect on the permanent residency applications.

I am hoping that the only effect is that staff at the DIBP will be more likely to take sick leave and/or work from home, or be isolated after an overseas trip - so presumably that would slow things down slightly.

Hopefully there is no wider effect, eg. staff taken from that particular department to work on assisting with emergency immigration measures as a result of COVID-19. I suppose that kind of thing is possible though.

New wait times for the February month will be out soon, so that should give us some indication. So nervous! 🤞
