Yes, I did my interview at the beginning of a 3 week stay so I was still in Australia for the approval, letter arrived before I left. Approval in the system was processed the day after my interview.

that's so lucky of you to still be in AUS while you got the approval, or did they promise you that you will receive your approval within that time frame?

We were in the same situation, the change from the normal 7-8 weeks processing time stopped our son getting loan for Uni, as 2.5 yr processing time then. Been  back in UK 14 months now. Left June 18. Applied for citizenship before we left, invited to sit test for March 19, both husband and myself returned to Aus, sat test, passed. Not approved within our 2 week timescale. Returned to UK. Received e mail in July 19 asking us our return date and links to Aus. Explained we wanted to return in a few years as strong urge to get back, committed to Aus, middle daughter wants to attend Uni.  I can get job. Need Citizenship for Gov’t jobs.

Unclear as to what is next, We cannot  afford continuous returns there to Aus as there   are no transparent and accountable processing times and no confidence in dept will approve us.

we do love Aus, the people, values.

Frustrated that we have possibly been failed by Australia and   the social contract to become Aus Citizenship. It was the migration pathway as set out to us at the start of our journey.  The changes Have not provided parity for our teenage children in their Education pathway/ HECS loans and would have disadvantaged them to stay with 2.4 years to drift whilst classmates went forward.

I hope  Dep’t: Citizenship could honour its agreement as we for-filled the criteria set out to us at time of application.

perhaps we should share our journey here, understand if we can do anything to promote, achieve our objective.

Thanks for sharing, it's been very helpful to me as I now know they will reach out and ask your return date and links to Aus.

They can’t approve if you are overseas.  Try calling and explaining.....you never know.  Even if they do approve you still need to attend a ceremony though.

I assume you have an RRV in place?

My travel facility has not yet expired but anyway I'll be eligible for a RRV since I have already spent 2 full years in Australia in the last past 5 years. Attending a ceremony will be easy if I understand it correctly since I just need to come back to Australia on a scheduled date. If calling and explaining would work, when should I make the call and what should I say to them?

  4. Hi All,

My application for citizenship by conferral in Australia was submitted around Jun 2018, and I passed the citizenship test and interview on 31st May 2019. The status of the application now is "received" at this point of time, which means I'm waiting for decision.

My situation is I will be leaving Australia later this month (around 20th Sept 2019) to fulfil an overseas employment which will last at least 2 years.

Could anyone advise how department of immigration is going to deal with my case and what I should do to get an approval even if I am overseas?

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Hi all,

Has anyone managed to find any solutions to this? I got my invite for interview in Melbourne for April, but in the time it took to get the application processed I got offered an opportunity to move to the US to work for a couple of years. I moved about a month ago and therefore no longer have a residential address in Australia. I have no issues flying back to do the test and interview, but I am worried it'll be a wasted trip if my move out of the country is going to prevent me getting approved.

Would be great to hear of how anyone else has got round this!

Hi mate, how did your citizenship application go after you moved back to UK? I'm kind of in the same situation now (taken the test, waiting for approval, need to go overseas). Could you please shed some light on it?

    Hi,

No mine IS is still requested.

In case notes it mentioned pending a predecessor verification  My biometrics also is on Amber at the moment.

    Risk check is Clear

    MAL clear

Your IS being cleared it good news I think. So your approval could be soonish (assuming of cause)

    Hi Tanwi,

What's your latest event tracking on the FOI screen shot? mine one is Integrity Screen Outcome Exempt (21/06/2019).

My application risk is still undetermined.

Any idea how to get the application risk cleared?

    Thanks

I think we might contact a lawyer for advice.

it's good to (finally) find some one in the same situation. I have tried to contact a lawyer about this but they need $200 to start the conversation (I'm not even sure if they have the answer to the problem). But given you have done your test in April, your decision should be on the way soon ( a friend of mine did the test end of April and her decision came last week). Please let me know if you find any answer to the posted question or your decision comes.

My situation is I'll be leaving Australia in about 2 months from now and start a overseas employment. I have contacted home affairs about my change of circumstances and was told that the decision could not be made if I'm overseas. Instead, I'll be receiving a email letter saying something like "decision is ready to be made, you need to come back to Australia for the decision to be actually made".

My question is has anyone ever received this "decision ready to be made" email before? Once you received the email and return back to Australia, will the application then be made right away or did you have to stay in Australia for some time to wait for the decision? if so, what would the waiting time be like?

Your help will be much much appreciated.

Anyone has an idea of this?
