Hi everyone, I have a slight dilemma. I’m currently applying for a 489 visa as the main applicant and have added my partner. He has still not fully decided if he will be joining me in Australia (after 5 years of discussions). If I get granted the visa, does he have to come with? If he doesn’t come out, will I still be able to apply for an 887 once I’ve met the conditions do the 489 even if he hasn’t? Hopefully all goes well and he joins me, but I’m trying to prepare for the worst just in case!

Hi everyone, Im applying for a 489 visa and will be moving out before my partner. My question is, will this affect his ability to apply for an 887 visa with me once I’ve lived in Australia for 2 years? If so, what are our options? The 489 visa expires after 4 years and there’s quite a long processing time for the 887 so I would like to apply as soon as I’m eligible.
