  1. Thanks everyone for the information we will have a look at some of the places mentioned when we arrive
  2. Hello all We have been looking and looking and getting very confused! Can anyone give advice on which area is better? As we don't have jobs I have budgeting 750 max rent but once we both have jobs that can go up! Kellyville, beaumount hills, castle hill in the hills or engagine, kirrawee, cornulla in the shires. We have looked at Newcastle but would prefer Sydney! The main thing is to be able to have a back garden for the kids and good schools etc and work of course. Thanks in advance
  3. Hi All We are currently in the process of coming over to NSW (not sure where yet -thanks to those who have suggested places its a great help). When looking at properties I have noticed that a mix of schools come up between state and/or religious, independent. Does it just depend on your area whether you should send your children to state school? My daughter is in a brilliant state school here and we have had no problems and I haven't even needed to consider private. Why does Australia have so many private schools? I guess my question is should we be sending our kids there and budgeting for it? Reading all the forums on the cost of living is making me feel a bit worried about this new warmer life haha Any help is appreciated :)
  4. Thanks so much I will have a look there as well we don't have to be by the beach (at those prices haha) but would be nice to go at the weekends and 25 mins isn't to bad
  5. Hello once again thank you so much for replying its great to have help! 11 years ago we might have been use to the humidity but not now haha. We don't want to be isolated especially when we don't know anyone so maybe not that far up west. I don't want to keep pestering you so I will ask about 1 more place - Oatley (more expensive but my budget is based on my husband working only once I get a job we will be able to afford more but also I don't like wasting on rent as we want to buy ASAP) looks pretty close to CBD and parmatta both places that seem to have work for us and close to beaches could be a winner! Thanks again and have a great weekend
  6. Thanks for your help, we only recently changed Visa and NSW was the easiest! but like you said Sydney is so expensive and has made us a bit worried but we really want warmer weather! (originally from South Africa). I have also been looking at the West (Sydney) - any advice on Beaumount Hills, Kellyville, Rousehill? A bit of commute but looks like there is a new train coming, we don't actually know if we will be in the CBD for work as I have seen lots in Parmatta and Castle Hills. Thanks again for your help - we definitely want to make it work
  7. Thanks so much for you help and such a quick response! I am going to look at those places! Its great to have a place to ask questions! I think our plan is to look for a job for my husband before we leave (if possible) but if it takes to long we will just go there (wherever looks good in the end for the kiddies) and hope for the best Stupid question - but you edited a post later on? eg I'd like to change the Sydney spelling haha (I can see the edit part just after a comment but cant find it when I go back
  8. Thanks Mariaswright! I'm glad you knew it was Sydney haha made a spelling mistake! Its a 190 visa. We haven't looked at Newcastle as we just assumed Sydney would be best for jobs. Can you suggest any good places in Newcastle please or places to avoid even no disrespect to any residence but with young kids we would like a nice friendly place? my main concern is to not move from place to place as our child will be in school and it's already a big change moving from the UK and that there is engineering work. Thanks again for your advice.
  9. Hi All I'm new here. We were supposed to be going to WA and be near family but changed visas and will be going it alone in Sydney, which is loads more than perth for housing! Can anyone recommend a good area but not overly expensive maybe $600-800 a week for at least 3 bedrooms, we would love to be by the beaches but that budget is to low, so hoping for somewhere around 20-30mins away possibly, also good schools as well would be great! Don't have jobs yet but might do that when we get there so will need to be by engineering and admin work as well. I have looked at loads of places and read loads of reviews so far and feel very confused! Thanks again
  10. Hi All, I'm new here. My husband and I and 2 kids(7 and 2) are currently doing the 189 visa. He is a Mechanical engineer and has a Metal machinist trade as well, I am an HR Advisor. We are/were planing to go to Perth (as my husband has some family there but not close). However the more we look into WA we get more nervous about the job situation there, so the question is are there jobs for the above jobs or is another state a better option? We have friends going to Brisbane so this could be an option? Thanks for any advice and apologies for the long winded story! We both have really great jobs here but miss the sun (we are originally from South Africa)
  11. Thanks all for your comments they are a great help, we are looking at going to WA and hopefully if she is dyslexic we will get help, her teacher doesn't think it's severe as she is only slightly behind in reading and writing but excels at all other subjects and socially etc. I was just worried that it would come up in the medicals and we would not get the visa. Thanks again all
  12. Hi All I'm new here and hoping to find some much needed help! We are in the process of doing a 189 visa. Our daughter is 7 and her teacher thinks she might have dyslexia and will be sending her for testing, so my question is if she have it does that count as an intellectual impairment? The top reason for denying visa's due to medical reasons! Any help is appreciated before we pay for all our visa's etc for nothing
