  1. Morning guys. Thank you for updating my timeline on that helpful magic spreadsheet. I just had a look, someone must put 30/05/0209 instead of 2019 by mistake, and it says that I waited minus 660820 days. 🤣

Can anyone update it please? I don't want to mess up the statistical data.

hey guys, I received the email this morning from MA and I have been ask for further information on both nomination and personal visa parts.

I'm not too concerned with the Nomination part, however,  the Immi asked the AFP and  my original country's criminal record at the same time  which I have provided a clearance. They mentioned: 'I note that you have provided a clearance, however please provide an updated clearance to include all name variations and aliases.' And they listed three full names...

I will use 'Waston' as family name and 'Emily' as  given name to explain what they actually need.

AFP:  WASTON, emily / WASTON, Kelly / EMILY WASTON

Original country's police check:  WASTON, emily / WASTON, Kelly / EMILY WASTON.

I guess that, the reason they asked about name 'WASTON Kelly' is due to the photo I have attached, but how am I able to prove it if it is just a nickname????? I'm soooo lost and confused..

I hope my question is not too long to bother everyone, but if anyone has any ideas about this weird request, please let me know as soon as possible.

    thank you.

Hi Kelly. Are you from China? None of those names you mentioned seems to be Chinese name, and I don’t think you can get police certificates for those names from China.

  3. Hey guys! Good news from our side.

Finally we got our visa finalized. Just checked immi account, I saw it's shown as Granted.

I am not so excited as I thought I would be when I saw the status finally being changed to Finalized. It was a long way. I migrated to NZ and lived there for 2 years to fulfill the requirement to a NZ permanent resident visa before moving to Canada, where I lived for 11 months. Then I continued with moving to Australia when I secured a job and got a 457 visa. However, Australian immigration policy changed immediately after I moved here, so I decided to apply for 186 visa under DE stream.

I think I have to eventually give up my Canadian permanent residency as I won't be able to fulfill the requirement of Australian and Canadian residency at the same time. But the good side is that I do like living in Australia.

    My full timeline is:

ENS 186 Visa and Nomination applied: 3 Sep 2018

Nomination approved: 3rd April, same day requested for NZ and Canadian police certificates and proof of relationship the same day, status changed to initial assessment.

Documents uploaded: 16 April, status immediately changed to further assessment.

    Visa approved: 30 May 2019

    Hello folks,

New here but did some reading of this site when I prepared our application. We had what felt like a long wait for nomination but then after we submitted application, it was very fast, which was not what I expected at all and we were delighted. Our case was straight forward apart from having an adult daughter at university. Therefore we completed the application ourselves with one trip to see a registered migration lawyer who helped me understand the breadth of evidence needed to ensure my daughter would be likely considered dependent. He also helped us interpret "de facto" as she has a uni boyfriend. We had asked for NSW Health to use the Labour Agreement Scheme for our nomination but they refused on the basis that as Kiwis we "had no need for permanent residence". This was a blow as we knew DE would be longer. That cost us six months. As Kiwis we can live and work here but we cannot vote or access uni fee loans and are excluded from certain civil service jobs, as well as other things.  There is also always the risk that later changes could undermine our right to be here and we felt a parental responsibility to try and secure PR (and ultimately citizenship) for the children we had brought here. We waited two years when we arrived because currently Kiwis in Oz count their time on the special category visa toward citizenship (this may change) and also after two years with same employer we avoid skills assessment including English assessment. The feeling when we got the emails was a fantastic mix of delight and relief - good luck to everyone else waiting. Our wait was only 14 months from immi in the end, but an extra 6 months getting the nomination submitted by employer.

Rough timeline (I didn't keep track exactly)

    • Occupation: Registered nurse
    • State: NSW
    • Birth Country: UK
    • Stream: 186 DE
    • Number of applicants: 4
    • Nomination applied:  February 2018 (initially requested employer to sponsor under Labour Agreement in July 2017)
    • Nomination approved: Early December 2018
    • Visa applied: Early February 2018
    • Asked to attend medicals: Early May
    • Visa granted: 24 hours after medicals cleared.
    • IMMI Status: Finalized

    Hi Toto

Thank you for sharing so much information.

May I ask if you were requested for new NZ police certificates? They are only valid for 6 months, so I suppose that yours were expired during the processing.

Do you still remember when was the last time that you updated your NZ police certificates on your application?

    Processing times

    • 75% of applications: 13 months
    • 90% of applications: 14 months

just check the website, they updated it

It’s bad. It has become even longer.

I’ve been waiting for 50 days now after my nomination approval. This waiting is killing me.

Hi all, just checked the Home Affairs website and the processing times seem to have been updated - https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-processing-times/global-visa-processing-times

1st column is for 75% of cases and 2nd column is for 90% of cases.

    image.png.65eac36236692afff770fd1e8f348db5.png

Just checked. It’s still showing the old processing time on my immi account.

I thought it would be updated on immi account first, usually a couple of days prior to being updated on the website.

    Hi all,

I got this email from my MA -

''We have received a request from the Department of Home Affairs to provide payslips, Pay summaries & statements from Company Name about your employment. I have all of the above and will supply again to the Department tomorrow.

Some information is requested from Company Name and i will liaise with your General Manager for this. I do not forsee any issues and i will update you in the next 24 - 48 hours. ''

I have already supplied this information in October last year to try and preempt a request for this. Application still the same status and the last updated date is still the same, I'm thinking that this was a request from the Nomination side of things as all is the same on my Application

Good morning. Was your application in further assessment status since November last year, and only AFP was requested at that time?

Do you know if and when your nomination was approved?

@Fung did you get your visa or still waiting . The NZ MOJ consent takes 3 months according to my friend . He waited 97 days after submitting the consent form . How long have you been waiting ?

I’m still waiting, about 50 days now. When and from which state did your friend apply?

I see your signature. So you have been requested for only NZ police certificate with MOJ form, nothing else, and you have provided them in March. But you are still waiting, aren’t you?

97 days waiting would be too terrible...

yes, my nomination approved on 6th february then my status changed to further assessment. They didn't ask for any thing. I'm just waiting for my visa.

OK. I thought they would always ask for something before changing to further assessment, otherwise it would be from received directly to finalised.

Great, you got your decision only in four months.

    Much congratulation.

Hi Kashif. I just noticed your signature. How did your application go to further assessment with no document requested? Was it just all of a sudden changed from received to further assessment?

All of a sudden, today i got email from MA with Notification of Grant  for 186 visa. Checked immi Account around 12:30 pm today this afternoon was nothing but just received.

Finally got it and so much happy and excited. Thanks to this blog and everyone who give hope to others.

Please update in spreadsheet and look my signature.

    Grant date: 20 may 2019

    No further document requested.

Congratulations! Was your nomination approved today as well just before the grant of visa?

And which state did you apply from?

Yes they requested skills assessment, experience evidence, PTE results and birth certificates for my children on 26 March submitted all on 27 March. Apart from birth certificates all the other documents were provided with the original application but requested again for a second time. To be noticed that the visa was finalised not by the same CO that requested the documents on the 26. Hope this helps.

    Thank you for the information.

Yes, it helps. I was assuming that the application goes into a queue after the request for new documents, and it will be picked up again after some time. So you case that a different CO finalised your application supports my assumption.

I know that applications normally get finalised after 30-40 days after the request, with some exceptions that were finalised either within 1-2 days or more than couple of months, according to the forum posts. Hopefully they are still on track with the increased amount of pending visa applications due to the recent trend of fast nomination approvals.

The time that I received the email as I applied by myself. The application was processed in NSW.

Ah, I see. Thanks for sharing.

I see your nomination was approved on 13th March and your visa was approved 9 weeks after that on 14th May.

Were there any documents requested for your visa application after nomination approval?

  14. Hi everyone. I’m thinking what time the department normally updates the applications (eg. approve or request additional information). I saw many people said they got their applications approved around 10am.

I know some people check their immi account 10 times a day, but we can save our time and energy if we know what time to check.

    Interesting!
Actually, I have found that there are two options for New Zealand (with two different forms):

    1. Request for Criminal Conviction History - Third Party -> guess the one you used.
    2. Request you own Criminal Conviction History -> the one I have uploaded with my application.

I am not sure if it makes a difference, as I have applied for visa by myself. I also could not find a requirement that specifically asks to use any of the above.

The page https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/help-text/evidence/Pages/et-h0290.aspx says "All visa applicants (and Family Sponsors) are required to provide a penal clearance certificate or police check from each country visited in the last 10 years" indicating that both should fit the bill.

Nope, I applied my NZ police certificates myself, which I had to. You must apply for a full record, which you have to apply yourself. You can only get a clean state certificate if you request through third party.

Regarding the MOJ consent form, you can read the below link on DoHA website:

    https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/help-support/contact-us/offices-and-locations/list?locationid=842#infoSummaryHtml

I quote the following for you:

"If you receive only one letter from the NZ Ministry of Justice, indicating 'no convictions' you will need to supply this letter and your consent for the Department to seek confirmation from the NZ Ministry of Justice in relation to the number of letters issued.

Your consent must include the following information: You Full Name; Date of Birth; Gender; Address; email; contact number; your MOJ reference number and the following declaration:

I hereby consent to the disclosure, by the Ministry of Justice New Zealand information to the Australian Department of Home Affairs that is restricted to whether I was issued more than one letter in response to my application for a Criminal Records Check. I understand that the response from the Ministry of Justice will be a Yes/No response only.

The disclosure of this information to the Australian Department of Home Affairs is to be used for visa and citizenship purposes only.

The declaration must be signed and dated."

No, I just uploaded my NZ AFP National Police Check report I got by email directly with my application. I am not sure what consent you are talking about.

Did you apply via MA or by yourself?

I applied via MA. What about you?

I think you’re likely to be asked for the MOJ consent form by CO if you haven’t supplied one. Unless they changed the procedure recently.

Hi @Fung, I have been waiting for 35 days since my Nomination approval. I hold a NZ PR (not citizenship).

What do you mean by "how long it takes DoHA to verify NZ police certificates with MOJ"?

Me too. I hold NZ PR as well. You have submitted a MOJ consent form with your NZ police certificate, right? That’s to give consent to DoHA to verify your NZ police certificate with MOJ.
