Hey LAG. Just out of interest, when did your test email arrive and when did you end up having your test appointment? Interesting that my initial date was earlier than yours but you've already managed to get it ticked off! the waiting times must fluctuate a lot depending on the office i suppose.
Ya you need to keep checking the same.

This is what comes in the email
"
What we request you bring
Along with this letter, we request that you bring the original version of the following documents to your appointment. The Document Checklist will assist you to identify acceptable documents. Photocopies or certified copies of documents are not acceptable. We request that you bring:- at least three documents that, all together, show your birth name, date of birth, gender, photograph, signature and current residential address
- official evidence of change of name showing links between all names used
- any other identity documents issued by another government that you consider will assist in verifying your identity
- evidence of when you first arrived in Australia and your present country of citizenship
- the documents that were submitted with your application
- documents for any children under 16 years of age included in your application
- official translation to accompany any documents which are not in English (see Translating your documents)
- any other documents that we have requested you to provide."
It doesn't specifically ask for a birth certificate unless you have uploaded it as evidence in your application.
Ya that's true, if you have already used it in the first place itself, you can be in problem. If that is the case, as far as I know, it can be your tenth class certificate (if you are from India) or it can be any other government issued certificate mentioning your age.

PTE is not an ‘easier’ test than the IELTS it is however a much more professional atmosphere when you’re undertaking the test and more fairly marked (computer based as opposed to a person). I undertook the IELTS three times and each time received 8 or above (usually 9) in reading, listening and speaking but 7.5 each time in writing. Yesterday I undertook the PTE and scored 90 (equivalent of 9 in IELTS). Clearly the IELTS’ subjective marking approach is failing test takers unfairly. What’s also unfair is that IELTS do not give specific feedback as to why your score was below par.
Overall I would recommend PTE, not because it’s easier or because I received the desired score but because it’s a fairer system.
Yes I would agree with you on the same. It's the perception of the person taking the test. Both the PTE and IELTS are equivalent in nature.

There are twenty questions in that. Is that enough?
Those are just the examples. Get in grove with the actual questions.

The processing time depends majorly on upon variegated factors and i think yes it differs from subclass to subclass.

I heard that they're routing the new applications through the new system which is quicker whereas the ones in 2017 and early 2018 are still being processed by the old system which is slower. The process remains the same, only the processing time has reduced. This is what I read at a few places.
By time it has got quicker, don't know about the 2017 and 2018 applications whether they'll be considered in the faster process or not.

My parents applied July 2018, sat their test May 2019. My mum got approved May 2019 and my dad July 2019. My brother applied at the same time and sat his test on the same day but he is still on 'received', so not sure they were under the new system.
That's ok it happens.

You could but it may be no use to them. I was told they are only valid for 40 daysOk. Then that also won't be beneficial to go ahead.

It appears that most applications take a while to be processed. Could anybody advise if I could lodge my application a couple of months before I meet the 1 year PR requirement, given that I've been living in Australia for over 6 years?
I think you can't do so.

I'VE BEEN APPROVED!!!
So bloody happy and relieved. I last checked my account about 5pm on Friday evening and it was still 'received'. Presumed there wouldn't be anything happening over the weekend, but just decided to check today on the off-chance (Sunday) and my status had changed to approved. Here's my updated timeline:
- Date applied: 11 March 2018
- City/Council area: Rockingham, WA
- Online / Paper: Online
- Date received the acknowledgement email: 11 March 2018
- Date of the Citizenship Test: 11 March 2019
- Date of Approval: 11 August 2019
- Date of ceremony: TBA
- Type of ceremony (Urgent/Normal): Urgent, if possible.
Now just to get onto the council to get me a ceremony in time for me to access HECS this semester...
Congrats for the same. All the best for the future en-devours.

How long do we have to wait to lodge FOI? Is there any time frame for that after we lodged the applications or it is your own call when you wanna do it?
Don't have any actual time frame for the same. You have to be patient enough to wait for the same.
