  1. Hello all,

we have a bit of a history in Australia - 4 years living in Sydney, 2 years living in Melbourne. We are currently in the stage when we are looking to buy a property and settle down. We cannot afford Sydney, were looking into GC but that's out of our range as well. Don't have a desire to stay in Melbourne. So, here we are thinking about Perth, more so Rockinham area. We are outdoorsy people, loving the beach and camping. I've never been to Perth but have been hearing positive things lately and I'm also seeing properties being quite affordable there when compared with the rest of Australia. Has anyone done the move recently? What do you like and don't like? Would you do anything differently?

Very interested to hear your opinions, also related to current politics...don't have an intention to move and be locked for years.

I don't worry about job market, already have an offer.

    Thank you so much!

  2. Hello all,

I have been granted 190 visa and moved to VIC in December 2019. So, I have another 5 months to fulfill my commitment to the state. I've come to decision that I want to move to QLD and I am wondering if any of you asked the VIC state recently to wave off a couple of months of your comittment? Were you succesfull? How long did it take for you to get a response from the goverment? Would it make it easier to find a job in QLD first and then write a letter to the government?

My only worry is that I am a Registered Nurse and it might be a bit tricky for the goverment to let go off a skilled health care worker in the covid era.

My reasons to leave the state is mostly my unhappiness with the local goverment, safety and higher salaries for nurses in QLD.

Thank you for your answers xx

    Hi everyone,

I'm new in this forum, i would like to ask my wife is planning to start nursing studies.

I don't know this about nursing.

Can you please guide me, what are the courses durations and fees, and which will be best course for her, she did master in business administration earlier but wants to change her career here.

And later on, we're planning to apply 190, we're on 457 visa but haven't got my residency yet.

So what are the best options for us.

    We live in NSW.

    Thanks in advance.

    Heya,

Nursing studies... Probably bachelor of nursing? It's a usual 3 year study at any uni, expensive. After graduating she'd need to have a grad year and after can work as a RN. So it'd require a lot of time, money and work. Hope you don't want to count on this for your 190?

    Hi

Submitted Visa 190 application and read online that the current Visa190 processing time is 5-6 months.

Does anyone know or recall that how long have you waited until case officer open your case? (i.e. from visa application “received” to case officer assigned)

    thanks in advance.

I've waited 6 months for a first contact and it was a direct grant. But that was last year when the processing time was 10-11 months.

    Hello,

I am a final year nursing student from the UK. My future goal is to get a 190 visa for Victoria.

I was wondering if I get 12 months experience here in the UK after I qualify and then I go to Australia on a working holiday visa and do a minimum of 12 months there as a nurse. Would I meet the 2 year minimum experience needed which is required for VIC state nomination?

I would have 85 points for the 190 visa as I have an IELTS score of 8 and I am aware you can only work for 6 months for one employer which is why I was thinking about doing the farm work requirements and applying for the second working holiday visa.

I am trying to plan in advance, and figure out the best way to get to Australia, hence why I am asking now.

    Thank you,

    Emma

    Hi Emma,

it's not very easy to find a nursing job in Victoria at the moment. All jobs I see are for nurses who have full working rights, preferably PR. I don't think WH visas are preffered. Keep in mind that even if you do work for agency, you still have to work a specific amnount of hours to have this experience counted. As far as I remember, you have to be employed at least as a part time employee, definitely not casual.

Also, you'd need to be registered with AHPRA to be able to work here as a nurse...I would stay in the UK and gained experience there, it's the easiest option out of the two and UK nurses are always welcome.

    Good luck

    Hi everyone,

May I know after receiving VIC 190 pre-invite, how long usually do I need to wait for the approved State invitation?

    Thanks a lot!

You can find this information on their website, I think it's a matter of couple of weeks and very individual.

    Hi Martina

Thanks for your response. Yes I am aware that for overseas exp we need 3 yrs experience to claim 5 points but here my question is about Australian experience as a Registered Nurse. Do you need any specific number of working hours in Australia to claim 5 points for exp?

    Thanks

I'd say it would be the same, full time - that's 38 hours a week.

i wish this would have been this much easy.. fyi all centres are closed for new registrations. Only entertaining via phone service and lines are extremely busy.

My partner registered online and then received a call from them about the situation and process. It was pretty easy. On what visas are you?

    Hello everyone

I am going to apply to ANMAC for overseas B.Sc Nursing degree assessment. I want to know how many minimum hours are required to claim 5 points for Australian RN experience. I am in doubt whether one year full time equaliant hours are required or minimum 20 hours per week? Need genuine advise from those who have gone through this process. Thanks in advance.

As far as I'm concerned in order to claim 5 points for experience you'd have to prove 3 years of full time work as an RN.

Hello, I need a help for professional references for anmac as a Registered Nurse.

    Hi Tiger92,

Your NUM or DON should be able to write it for you however, if you're not satisfied, write it yourself and let them check it and sign if they're happy with it. A few tips:

    - it must be on official letterhead paper

    - write your ANZSCO next to your position

    - write every single thing you are doing at your workplace

You can find examples online and also try to browse this forum.

Also I strongly suggest to other members not to share your files with anyone, there have been cases in the past where ANMAC recognized similarities and there were major issues for applicants.

    Good luck

    Hello Bella,

Yeah, I received the pre-invite in almost 10 days from my updated D.O.E with 85+5 points. When did you file your 190 EOI with 90 points? I guess, you will be receiving it

    Hey Guys!

Happy to inform you all that I received my final invite from VIC today and I can't be more happy than this. Now just one and last step left for Aussie dream to become a reality.

Hang in there guys, Your invite will be around the corner. Be patient. I started my process for Aus in March, 2017 (IELTS-->Applied in AHPRA-->Did my overseas bridging program-->gain Aus license as a RN-->skills assessment-->PTE-->EOI) and now here I'm. 3 years went by.

Things do look doubtful at times but keep going for your dream.

Yes!!! Congratulations! Hit me up when you're in Melbourne. Good luck with everything, you're a fighter 👍👍👍

That's what I thought. Total fee comes around $5000 AUD which is wayyy cheaper than what we paid. But i believe there might be increase failures among overseas nurses if they did not prepare for it carefully. Giving NCLEX-RN is no child's play and then you won't get any training for OSCE and will have to directly appear for it which will prove to be quite difficult for nurses who have not followed the same standards back home.
Anyway, this is what it is now. All the best to the new overseas applicants for NMBA-AHPRA. 🙂

Right! I've heard nclex-rn is VERY difficult so we'll see how it works in practice.

I’ll just ask my agent what else we can do. I already have a superior english score. So, I’m not sure what’s next. Thanks for all the replies guys. I just hope I get positive news soon.

By the way, how invites are there before the “actual” invite to lodge the PR?

I imagine you could still do NAATI which would add another 5 points to your score but it's a pretty expensive course.

    Hey @Martina

    Thanks for your reply!!
I was not aware that you can even approach them after their decision on your nomination. Because everywhere I read that they don't actually site any reason of rejection and give a very generic template kinda mail.
Also, Do we have to submit the VIC commitment letter at the time of submitting documents for nomination after receiving Pre-invite or at the time of receiving the final invite and filing for visa? Because I could not see that as mentioned in the nomination documents checklist on their website.

    Thanks a lot 🙂

You can't approach them and they generally won't talk to you once the decision is made. I was very persistent and felt it wasn't really fair given my situation and finally got a chance with the commitment letter. I wouldn't submit it unless they ask for it.

    Hello @Martina

I heard that VIC rejects a lot of Pre-Invite nomination applications. I received my Pre-invite on 16th Jan, 2020 and lodged my nomination application already. Everyone is saying that not to make big plans as VIC is very choosy and most of the pre-invites do not turn into final invites. So, I'm just worried about that. May I know how much did VIC take to give you the final invite after you receive the pre-invite?
    Thanks!

    Hi Hun,

Yes it's true they turn a huge number of people down in the pre-invitation process. I got rejected too because I previously lived in NSW and they didn't like that. Had to fight my way through and ended up writing a 10 page commitment letter to the Victorian government that finally got me the official invite.

If I remember this correctly, they rejected me in two weeks and then reopened my case in one week and I got through in another two weeks.

    Good luck xx

    Hi all,

I filled out my application and submitted already but worried I did a part wrong.

Give details of employment undertaken during the 10 year period before the invitation to lodge this application.

Is the applicant claiming points for this employment?

    No

Is this employment related to the nominated position?

    Yes

Has the applicant been employed overseas in their nominated occupation or a closely related occupation at a skilled level, immediately before invitation to lodge this application?

    Yes

Duration of overseas Less than 3 years in the past 10 years

I put Yes as it was linked to my nominated position but not claiming points and it wasn't assessed by AITSL. Do I have to gather evidence now due to me putting yes?

    Thanks

I did the same and provided the evidence. I wasn't claiming any points but Victoria as my sponsoring state required at least 2 years of experience so that's why I uploaded all evidence. I don't think it would be a big deal for you, the worst that can happen is they'll contact you for the documents.

Yes, I have submitted EOI for 189 as well and 190 NSW and EOI for 190 VIC is a separate one. Do you think I should withdraw my 190 NSW EOI because anyway I don't stand any chance of invitation from the state as they need one year onshore exp.

Also, I don't want to spend more money by coming on student visa since I have already spent a lot on the bridging program and you already know bridging program costs you a fortune.

Yes I know how expensive it is 😫 is it true NSW has such a condition for nurses? That must be new I've never heard of it need to do some googling.

    Hello @Martina
I'm shocked too. Recently my points increased for 190 because of completion of 5 years for my overseas work exp and now I'm at 85+5 ss points for 190 VIC with D.O.E as 05/01/2020. I think the reason being I'm offshore but as you said it doesn't really matter.
I have been trying so hard to secure a job on TSS visa but have been facing rejections from all over the places as nobody is willing to sponsor an overseas nurse. And being offshore I don't even have much options. I feel so much frustrated. 😣

Does anybody here knows if any age care facility/hospital is giving sponsorship in any of the states? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you so much!

Have you submitted your EOI for 189 too? Or NSW 190 as well? As far as I know, what you're saying is true - no one will sponsor an offshore nurse. Maybe consider arriving on student visa and try to find sponsorship on the spot?

I’m also wondering if offshore affects a lot on the progress of invitation....

Applying offshore won't affect your invitation or visa processing time.

I think that for some states you need a job offer to apply from offshore.

Please don't be mistaken. The states usually want you to have a job offer only when you're moving interstate, so onshore.

    Hello!

No one can predict your State Invite. I have submitted EOI for 190 VIC with 80+5ss points (9/08/2019) but I'm still waiting for an invite. May I know your job code? Mine is 254415 (Critical Care & Emergency).

    Thanks!

I'm actually shocked to see that you're still waiting with your points Pooja! I'm really sorry to hear that, it seems like they limited invitations and grants massively. Hoping that you'll hear from them soon 🤞

Hi there, I’ve just submitted vic190 with 5.8 yrs experience recognized by ANMAC , total mark 75 + 5ss, how many chance of getting pre-invitation in 2months time or how long I may need to wait for ?? Still thinking of up my English to superior but probably gonna take some time tho.

That's a great score, you will definitely be invited soon but no one can guarantee it will be within two months. If you really need the invitation asap, do the English test as that would put you up on the ladder. Good luck!
