Hi All,
This has probably been answered previously, but does anyone have an idea of how long the wait time usually is between having citizenship test + interview to receiving follow up communication, be it approval, or invitation to ceremony?

Hi, I applied for Citizenship using the GRO Birth Certificate copy, as I only had the original of the 'short' version of my Birth Cert. The original 'full' Birth Cert was lost a long time ago when I was a child! Anyway, I took both the 'short' and GRO copy Birth Cert to my citizenship interview/test but wasn't asked to show them. And I'm a citizen now, so clearly the GRO Birth Cert copy version is fine!
Just take all the documents that you used when you applied (ie, follow the instructions in the invite letter). I was only asked to show my passport and my NSW driver licence as ID.
Thank you Vicky, and for your response to my other question. I feel a lot more re-assured now.

Do not answer anything wrong from AUSTRALIAN Values PART 4 in common bond. Rest all you can miss 1/2 answers - from other sections.
https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/citizenship-subsite/files/our-common-bond-testable.pdf
=> 15/20 questions [ 75% or more, so missing 1,2 questions is okay ]
Part 1: Australia and its people
Part 2: Australia’s democratic beliefs, rights and liberties
Part 3: Government and the law in Australia
=> 5/20 questions [must answer correctly -> The computer test will not show you pass if you answer wrong and this section is pretty easy]
Part 4: Australian values
Thank you, I have already gone through the booklet and answered those questions with ease. But I would imagine the test can throw out a number of different questions.
Just wondering if there is a best practice question bank anywhere?

Because of covid, they may not ask for many documents. I think you should be fine. You cant help urself in one day.
So better assume, they will not ask birth certificate and ask for passport or DL. Concentrate on your test.
Get all other docs in original.
Thank you for your re-assurance. I really hope that turns out to be the case.
I have been using https://www.easydrivingtest.com.au/citizenship-test to practice some of the test questions is there a better page or more updated list of questions for 2021?

Hi guys,
New to this thread but hopefully someone may know the answer or had a similar experience.
I am due to have my citizenship interview + test tomorrow, and just had a last minute review of all required documents to be certain I am prepared. I noticed that the Immigration website says they do not accept certified documents. However I ordered a copy of my birth certificate from General Registration Office in the UK and the copy they sent me says "Certified Copy" despite it looking official.
Has anyone else had to re-order there birth certificate? and had any issues with it?
I appreciate all the help and feedback.
Thanks

Yes this is what it currently is.
They tried to change it to 4 years PR last year but it was never passed.
Pauline Hanson is trying to get it to 8 years PR and according to this article: https://www.sbs.com.au/yourlanguage/punjabi/en/article/2018/02/09/pauline-hanson-wants-migrants-wait-8-years-become-citizens a private member's Bill has been brought before the Federal Parliament that seeks to increase the waiting period for permanent residents to eight years before they can apply to be Australian citizens.
10 minutes ago, Cbyrne11 said:I believe that's the case.
Two years ago they froze citizenship applications while Dutton tried to force that change through, adding an English language test and some other requirements.
They couldn't get it passed but created a huge backlog by not accepting applications for a six month period and scaring anyone who was elligible for citizenship to appy all at once.
I'm worried now that they have a better majority that it will come back and they could pass it now, which would be a kick in the teeth considering I've been here 5 1/2 years and only just got PR.
Might not happen though, best case Dutton doesn't get the home affairs portfolio but imagine whoever they put in that role will have similar views to his.
8 years is ridiculous. Hopefully for all our sakes they don't change that rule.

The only other thing is who will be home minister and if they will bring up the changes to citizenship again (remember the 4 years of PR, instead of four years in Australia with one year pr), or deal with the terrible back log in citizenship applications (over two years at the moment).
These will only affect us after we receive our grant though. Labor didn't support these policies.
I did actually have this at the back of my mind. So currently is it 4 years in Australia (with 1 on PR)?

Hi Ryan,
Scott Morrision will cap permanent migration at 160,000 for the next four years. To be honest, this will not have too much of an affect as 160,000 was consistent with the intake over the past 12 months. Australia accepted 162,417 permanent migrants in the past year.
Thank you

Hey guys,
Curiosity is getting the better of me today....
Does anyone have any idea how the results of the election may impact our chances of getting our PR visas?
Was there a party which was more favourable to us?

I assume in his IMMI account.
Website will be updated soon.
Yes thats right in the Immi account - usually this gets updated first.

It looks like the department have updated the processing times for 186 DE visa strangely 13 months - 13 months. Can only assume they are suggesting further delays having changed from 12 months.

Your Company should let you know
Does this generally happen soon after you apply - or is it closer to the time your application is about to be reviewed?
-
Hi guys,
May be a silly question - but how do you know if your nomination is approved?

Hi RyanReid. Same situation for me. Is there any update on your nomination or application? Have you got any explanation from your MA?Hi @fung unfortunately no updated. My MA thinks the last updated date may be because they logged into the account, not necessarily making changes. Hopeing they are wrong.

@RyanReid Yes, I've always been of the opinion to be proactive and keep an updated PCC on your account.
It is possible that the CO might not request a new one, as some people have had PCC's accepted that are up to 3 months old / expired. However, there are more cases (in my opinion) of people getting asked for renewals.
So it's your choice, if you are willing to risk it and get asked for a renewal from the CO (which would increase your wait time) then wait, alternatively keep a latest one.
- Knowing they are reasonably quick and easy to get, I think it's a no-brainer, however, all up to personal choice.Health exams (medicals) are valid for 1 year. They are stricker with these and if it's expired, you'll likely need to redo it.
Thanks @Hex your comments are always very helpful and reassuring. My MA told me to wait but if I was worried to apply for a renewed AU Police check which I have done.
I also double checked my application and for the 2nd time in 10 days the updated date has changed ( yet no change in status and neither myself or my MA has touched it) very strange....

No, they don't and can ask you for a renewal of PCC at anytime after 12 months of receiving the PCC.
The validity (as I was corrected the other day) is for 12 months from date issued (based off Immi rules). They accept if for 12 months.
Thanks @hex thats very frustrating. Would you advise to be proactive and apply for renewals? Assuming that would come the same costs again?
Also I cannot see anywhere on the immi rules that health exam has an expiry, should that still be ok?

Do the department not accept responsibility the police checks are out of date because they didn't meat the estimated processing time originally quoted?
How do you find out the length of validity, as I do not see any valid / expiry date on any of my checks.

Hi Guys,
I just logged on to my account and noticed the last updated date says 08 Mar 2019. I have gone through the messages tabs and also status and can see no changes. Any idea what this means?

anyone any idea on wait from here on in..?
thanks
Did you submit police checks with your application at the start?
I applied at the end of Feb and submitted police checks with application - wondering if I will be asked to submit new ones as the date has now passed 12 months?

Hopefully they will shorten the processing time
Unsure whether this is good news or not but the processing time for a 186 DE has changed from 11-16 months to 12-15 months.
Coming up to 12 months myself...
