    Hi everyone,

Just wondering after passing the test, do we get an early certificate or something to confirm about the citizenship? Or have to wait until the ceremony to become Australian?
    Thanks

You only receive a certificate once you become a citizen (at the ceremony)

Hey Guys, just to share you all an update to my application 😊

I applied mid March 2020 and got text sms invite from DOHA on Tues 8 Sep to do the test next week! It looks like the dept is moving fast to process the backlog due to covid.

I am based in Adelaide and now preparing for the exam 😅

I'm studying the material Australian Citizenship: Our Common Bond and doing the practice test from https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/citizenship/test-and-interview/prepare-for-test/practice-test

Can you guys suggest any other practice test that are worth doing so I can nail this? 😁

    Much appreciated!

Good news - that was quick! Me and my husband took the test on Friday in Perth and it was very easy. Sorry I can't recommend any other practice tests but everything you need really is in the common bond booklet/video. I watched the video and read the booklet the day before and then read the booklet on the morning of the test so it was fresh in my mind - we both managed to get 100%. Our tests had different questions so it was random. If you memorise the booklet as best you can you should be fine. Good luck!

Update on our applications as above. No news for hubby and me (we are in Melbourne so no interviews or tests happening yet) and could be waiting a while looking at current processing times. However, having successfully unlinked our 17 year old son's application and asked for an online ceremony (he doesn't need the interview or test) he now has his online citizenship ceremony confirmed for next Tuesday 25 August. So pleased as it will make a huge difference for him going to university next year.

That's great news! Congrats to your son

  5. Hi Everyone,

An update as today we received an invitation for our interview and test! Very surprised - we were not expecting the invite so soon. We thought there would be a big back log due to Covid. It is scheduled for 11th Sep. We're located in Perth and our application was submitted on 11/02/2020.

Our daughter became a citizen on 05/08/2020 as she didn't need to have an interview or test.

    Good luck to everyone here!

Done - I actually phoned them before to try and do this and didn't get very far, but the guy I just spoke to was brilliant. Did you then also apply for an early ceremony or did it just happen? Thanks so much for your help.

I didn't ask for an early ceremony but they did say in their email confirmation that if she didn't get a ceremony within 6 months of the approval date then I could contact them. I think in that case they would expedite it. However, it came through pretty quick so we're over the moon. Only thing is she has to go on her own which is a little sad but a small price to pay! Good luck with your son's ceremony - I'm sure they'll sort it out 🙂

I was the same not realising my son wouldn't need an interview or test - we applied in mid-April and he was approved in 30 days. Like you we want him to have access to the student loans before he goes to uni next year. Do you know what number you called? Thanks

I went through the home affairs immi website - the help and support section. It's a busy number so had to wait a while to get through.

Hi Jlucy - can I ask, did you say on your applications that you wanted to have your citizenship ceremonies together?  I did, my 17 year old son approved and we want him to have his ceremony asap so that he is a citizen for university. Can you also tell me whereabouts in Australia you are? We are Melbourne and no idea if they are any faster! great if you can let me know. Thanks

Hi pearplumpie, actually we had requested to have our ceremonies together. I didn't know when we applied that she could get approved so quickly without an interview or test. As she is going to uni next year we want her to be eligible for a student loan. I rang them up to explain this and they un-linked her application from mine and my husbands. We are in Perth, Western Australia

  10. Hello all,

My husband received our ens trt visa approval today (actually the 18th) 2 x emails nomination and visa approved on same day.

He applied on 8th Feb 2018 (sales and marketing manager, low risk country, 5 applicants)

I have been a silent reader but wanted to put this on here. This has been the most stressful year of our lives but we finally have the good news. I did not expect to pass the medical due to illness but somehow I did so sometimes all is not lost. Stay positive.

Wishing you all the very best of luck with your applications!
