If you want to contact an agent, Raul who has replied above is very highly regarded and his contact details are in his signature.

You mother being in Oz is of limited help (same process but can result in extra points providing she also meets certain criteria such as living in a regional area. It is also a provisional visa rather than PR.

Provisional would do now tbh having had our hearts set on it for the last 18 months... 😔

I understand that you were teaching the curriculum, but who was paying for it? If it was a UK LEA (or equivalent) you have a strong case (in my unqualified opinion) that you were still acting in the role of secondary school teacher - just not in a formal school situation. If it was the parent's who paid for it then you are a private tutor, and as you probably know in the UK (even if you teach the curriculum) there is no required qualification to be a private subject tutor - anyone can set themselves up as a tutor. As such the two can't be considered similar occupations for points experience

Thanks for your reply. Whilst I understand anyone can set up being a tutor I was a tutor thru a website where I had to declare to them my qualifications and teacher number etc etc

Anyway time to find an agent to see if they can rescue us...

Anyone know if theres a route out there as my mother lives there? 🤔

  3. Yes I realise that and wondered if I'd maybe named it incorrectly, as it was still teaching kids the curriculum etc just out of a school setting due to behaviour/disability issues etc both one-2-one and in groups. Just wished they'd contacted me for info if unsure as I only had a few lines to try and explain the role in my application. Cant believe they just refused without any dialogue.

  4. It was the immigration dept. My qualifications were Ok'd by the skills assessment people.

Basically I tutored children for 6 years who for one or another reason weren't in a school setting or needed extra help etc but they were still following the same curriculum etc

    Very frustrating 😔

Can anyone recommend a migration agent please?

  5. Not the email I wanted to wake up to 😭

189 (2ndry school teacher)  refused due to them disregarding 6 years on my 10 as a private tutor and therefore knocking my points from 20 to 5 for employment. Absolutely gutted!

Does anyone know if you can appeal?

    Thanks in advance

I put my EOI in November and received and invitation in Feb. Put my application in straight away and my medical and police check was requested last week.

Not sure on the timescales after this tho!

I put EOI in late Oct 2018, invited Nov and submitted Dec. Had medicals late Jan 2019 and still sitting tight waiting, according to immitracker theres 266 applications in front of me still (it seems to be dropping 7 a day on average!) 🙄

On the plus side I'm holidaying in Aus now and the weathers lush 😁😎

Hi everyone, I submitted my EOI, 70/75 (189/190NSW) but haven't received any invitation yet. I was just wondering if teachers are actually being invited.

    Regards

    Hi

I submitted my EOI in October 2018 and was invited to apply in November 2018 so yes there are some invites (or at least were) going out... the waits painful isn't it? 😩

    Hi all

I have just lodged (last week) my 190  (teachers) with 70 points (including state 5 points) for NSW.  Reading all the comments in this forum I really doubt my chances and I will be losing the 5 points in Oct for the age.  I have tried IELTS more than 10 times to increase points but every time I have 3x8 and 1x7 in one of the components.

Can someone advice if we still hold a chance to be invited for 190 at 70 points and also,  I have seen some of you claiming 20 points for English, may I ask which test you have done and where at?

Hi, fellow teacher here awaiting 189 Visa... I did IELTS and got 20 points (1st time miraculously!)

    Hi lovely people,

I was wondering if anyone has come across this issue before. I had a job in Sydney for an international event company but I obtained it through a recruitment company and everything therefore had their name on - payslips, contract - not the international event company.

I had to complete an Australian criminal consent form as part of the process.

My question is - I have asked the event company to write me a letter of statement of employment for me to submit to VETASSESS as part of my skills qualification but do I also need to get the recruitment company to confirm I worked there as well?  It was a 6 month role so I want to include it...

    Thanks all for any help!

    Kitty

Hi there, I've had a similar scenario where I worked for a teaching agency and had a 4 month placement at a particular school. In my Visa app I mentioned the agency as they were the ones I had the contract with and the ones paying me - I haven't had any contact from CO yet so cant comment whether this is right or wrong but to me it seemed the correct decision 💁‍♂️

    Good luck 🤞

Hi all. Quick question I have been reading and if you are a UK citizen you don't need to take an English test however i read somewhere that to gain more points it is advisable to do so. Is this true and also which English test is better to take. Thank you

I took the ielts test as needed the 20 points. Not sure if it's compulsory but I'd have got nowhere near the 70 points without it!

Also my undergraduate university have said they no longer have my degree transcripts as it was over 10 years ago. What can I do?

I was told this too by my uni as it had been 20 years. The immigration team told me a copy of the course booklet would suffice along with a letter from the uni stating that the transcript is no longer available but that the course covered...

    Hope that helps, good luck

    Hi Burnsie,

what visa did you apply for as a teacher? 189 or 190?

Where you looking to settle once / if granted?

Hi, both but got invite for 189 so ran with that one. Fingers crossed NSW - how about you, what's your story bluebird?

  14. Hi all

As a teacher I uploaded my DBS (CRB) as police check document. Is this all that is required? Ive just had my medical last week and so all documents are now submitted but just thought if the DBS is not the correct police check document I could be getting on with obtaining the correct one whilst waiting...

    Thanks for any advice...
