Congrats!  I've got my interview/test date now for Sydney CBD, but of course in the meantime I sent my passport back to UK for renewal (it was a gamble that (i) it expires and I can't travel if the border reopens or (ii) or I don't have it back in time for the test).  So I will probably end up rescheduling the test date, as UK passport processing is much slowed down because COVID.

you didn't have to do that. Expired passport is also OK

    Hi folks,

I was under the impression that as of August 11th I would be able to apply for citizenship. However when going through the initial application page I get a message saying "Based on information held on Departmental systems the applicant does not meet the general residence requirements."

I arrived in March 2015 on a Holiday Visa, got a Bridging Visa for a 457 in November 2015 and was granted the 457 in January of 2016. I was granted Permanent residency on August 12 2019. My belief was that as of August 11 I would have met the criteria of 12 months as a PR and had 4 years in the country.

The only reason I can think of where I do not meet the general residence requirements is that when swapping from a 457 to a partner visa, my 457 was cancelled, and I had to reapply for a bridging visa E to stay in the country in Sept 2017. Looking at this info, is anyone able to give advice as to when I would meet the general residence requirements?

they probably count it from the dependant visa as your previous one was canceled

  3. Hi everyone! Does anyone know when the tests will be resumed? Do they have online option for test? I just applied for citizenship in Feb, 2020 and shortly after coronavirus hit , so my next step would be test invitation though I have ni idea how long will that take until we can participate in test.

Yes, the newborn would be Aus Citizen by birth. But in case you need Passport for the baby, you got to first apply for the Proof of Citizenship and once you get the Citizenship document, you can apply Passport for the baby. This is what we did in our case.

Australia DOESN'T give citizenships by birth, you can only be Australian when one of your parents is Australian...or by applying for citizenship.

80-100 people gaining citizenship from what I've read, but not sure how reliable is the source (another forum). It also said the backlog was currently about 400 people (but I suspect it has gotten worse with all the new approvals in the last couple of months, so hard to say).

What I know is there has been 3 ceremonies since my approval (including the September one which I'm sure I'm not on the list), and no news from Council. Soon my waiting time from approval to ceremony is going to be longer than from lodgement to approval 🙂

Did you not find a sooner date for your test date?

back log is nearly 200.000 !!!

Should I apply 187 visa now or wait until november and I can apply independently. Which way is better? I feel with 187 visa its very long proccess with employer. But still not sure what to do. Any ideas for that?

It's not possible for them to refuse without a reason. Even if it's a bullshit reason they have to give a reason. By the way if the nomination is refused you can't appeal you need to withdraw or wait for the visa to be refused before going to AAT.

Going for an appeal at the AAT you need to prove why they have refused you and how is it wrong. If you say they haven't given your friend a reason then your friend will surely win the AAT without a problem. (Maybe your friend hasn't read the refusal properly or doesn't want to tell you the reason)

My partners last visa was refused because they found the IELTS was expired, we went through AAT and was able to prove that when the application was submitted it was valid and was given time resit for another IELTS...took a while but won the case, got the decision overturned and got 50% of the AAT fee refunded.

you serious? i submitted my ielts literally a month before expiring, got visa 18mths later so it was clearly expired by the time CO opened the case, no issues. i asked my MA about it and he said it need to be valid at the time of application

Cooks/ Chefs and Marketing occupation are waiting the longest time for their 187

Although cooks/chefs from QLD are getting it within 13-17 months

Child care workers are getting it quick too 12-14 months.

there is absolutely no rule to that.  i'm in childcare and it took me 18 months, my friend 17, and other 2 friends 22 and 19 months, also childcare

    Congratulations to you !!

i just want to know is childcare worker is eligible to apply rsms visa. What are the minimum qualifications?

you have to have diploma in childcare and be on room leader or director position and have 3 years fulltime relevant experience. check what else with some agent as rules has changed March 2018 and now is bit more difficult than before

Many thanks! I sent more documents to my MA and keep on asking them what else do they need. I also noticed that on the attachment my MA have not pressed the "I confirm that attachment..."

As soon as my MA pressed the button on the Attachment folder my status now is Further Assessment. At this stage, my MA will not be able to attach any documents unless CO will ask for it.

Are you on the same boat Aug2017Act and you are a lead educator as well right? In my service I think 2 of them got pr already.

Exactly, MAs know what they're doing. My MA didn't attach asked docs until i provided all needed (3 of them)

I was sending docs one by one as soon as I obtained them,  to my MA. then when he received them all, he attached them at once, I got visa next day.

yup same, team leader in childcare.

    Hi Guys,

Just a quick question. I tried importing my account as well and my file will still be with my agent right? and I can see on my end that my MA are the uploading my documents.

I imported my account Because I just want

    to see my status.

I do not have to anything with that right and will not harm my application  right?

I applied from ACT as well. After sending AFP and medicals still on INITIAL ASSESSMENT.

yes it will be with your agent, It will not 'harm' your application as long as you just observe it. Do not do anything else, don't attach documents yourself as if you start playing with it you can actually jeopardize your application.

When my MA uploaded my documents it changed to further assessment.

Go to attach documents, see if everything that needs to be attached is there and then on the bottom of that page there is button that says something like: “inform CO that documents have been attached” I can remember exactly what it says but you should see it there.

i would not suggest playing with your application. importing and observing OK but anything else than that leave it to your MA

Hi , can you please tell me , whether or not immi ask for a new job contract when the file is picked up . I have already submitted 2 years full time contract which will expire in July 2019.but employer doesn’t like to give full time job contract afterwards but a part time position.

    childcare group leader

they may ask for evidence of current occupation and in that letter the owner/manager/director needs to specify the following: that the position is available for next 2 years, your duties, position etc.

Even thou I submitted the full time contract without ending date, the OC still requested that letter.

    Hi everyone,
So nice to see so many people getting their PR 🙂
I have a stupid question: our 187 application was done through an agent and the company. I was wondering if I can check the progress online. The agent usually takes sometime to contact us, and it would be nice if I could follow up by myself. How do you guys check the status of your application? Do you think its fine to check even though the application went through a MA.

    Thanks

of course! import your application into your account
