Only just saw this post! Are you excited about the move?! So much to think about isn’t there!! We hope to be out there early next year after Xmas!
I am terrified of spiders I am not going to lie , I am dreading it! We have started to look more towards the hills now as more value for money on houses, looking at mount barker and flagstaff hill!
Hi,
We've just accepted an offer on our house so only now are we starting to get excited...fingers crossed it'll all go through in 6-8 weeks as no upward/downward chain!
Hoping to be in Adelaide by the end of October.....still unable to hand our notices in at work so it's going to be an intense couple of months!
We've gone round in circles so many times now on areas that I'm not sure what we're thinking anymore....interesting to have a look back at the map with homely ratings, some of the widely talked about hot suburbs score lower than we were expecting but so hard to know how accurate they are given your own specific circumstances.
There's certainly some lovely properties with a bot of space up in the hills. eh?

Despite some very positive viewings we are still trying to sell the house. We are now enjoying the summer and resigned to not moving for a while yet.
Hi there - I remember you being very helpful on the "pre-visa grant" thread - and I recognise a few others from the same time on this thread....which we've only just spotted!(OK, looked for)
I do hope that your house sells soon - we accepted an offer this week but it's been a rollercoaster and we've yet to navigate through surveys etc.
So, we're thinking we may be in Adelaide 10 weeks from now and the whole shipping challenge is therefore upon us - looks like I'll be selling strimmers/mowers/leafblowers/Karcher washer etc, cant really justify $200 a pop if customs wish to re-clean them.
Will be organising quotes so will update with quotes and anything else that could be helpful info to you all.

Hi all,
We're another family from the Midlands making the move to Adelaide - We're near Stafford.....just accepted an offer on our house so hoping to be in Oz by the end of October
I've been putting off the whole shipping thing but it's about time we started getting serious I guess.
We are a family of four (although kids are only 2 & 3 so not too much that we'll need to take for them)
Trying to get a rough idea - I looked at some online calculators who said c£5K for a 3 bedroomed house? To be honest, we'll be taking less than that as leaving sofa's/mattresses, wardrobes.
The movecubes looked to be around £2K but a bit unclear what the add-ons mounted up to.
Interested to keep an eye on the thread and will share anything we find out too.

This is great, thank you for sharing! We are hoping to be in Adelaide early next year! I can’t wait. We are a family of 4 with 2 young children. I have been looking around Henley beach area..Fulham Gardens seems like a nice suburb?! X
Hi,
we too are a family of 4 with 2 young children (2&3) heading over to Adelaide in the autumn (my wife & kids all have citizenship, I’ve just got my 309/100 PR visa)
we’re going in circles around suburbs, I guess that’s because quite a few seem nice. Initially we thought city (wife’s mom is in Prospect) then loved the views and space in Belair and surrounding (maybe not the snakes and spiders) then the beach suburbs of Henley/ Glenelg, after all, surely that’s the dream? Then the eastern suburbs like Toorak gardens.
Now completely confused. We need to think about the schools too!

YOU GUYS!!!! After hearing literally nothing from immi throughout this whole process we got our grant today!!! Which makes me think I should have just hurried up and done my medical ages ago....
Congrats! Is that all of the October’s now done?

Also did anyone’s application status change at any time if they were granted the visa without any RFIs?
No change for us, last night I logged on to Immi and it just stated “received”.
We literally had zero communication from paying our fee to getting the grant.
Fingers crossed for everyone still waiting

@samie97 this might not be 100% accurate but I have been tracking the RFI and Grants. This might help with a length of time idea
That’s great. Thanks for sharing. We are hoping g to hear something (anything.....) this week.

Good luck to everyone else still waiting!
Congrats to you, that's great news.
It's been a quiet couple of weeks it seems so let's hope there's a few more about to be granted.

Hi guys.
My wife and I are hoping to be granted a 489 in the coming months and will be moving to Adelaide. In order to help figure out where we want to live, I've been making some maps of the Adelaide inner suburbs based on things like their Homely rating, distance to shopping malls, cinemas, supermarkets, etc, so I'd like to share them here in case anyone else can find a benefit. They are designed as 'heat maps', so they don't go into detail about each location but are designed to give a good overview, so you can tell the distance to certain amenities from the suburbs you are considering.
The maps are high resolution so you can zoom in and see street names and things and I've done quite a large number of suburbs, although I obviously had to stop somewhere, so apologies if the place you're looking at isn't covered.
In this thread, I'm posting the 4 I've made so far but will add any more if I make them.
1 - Homely Ratings - Taken from Homely.com.au based on their suburb ratings out of 10
2 - Supermarkets - I've gone for Coles and Woolworths, as they're usually the biggest. I haven't included Foodland, IGA and other brands as sometimes they're a lot smaller and I wasn't able to fully research their sizes.
3 - Shopping malls/streets - Any decently sized shopping centre and a selection of streets that have a load of shops too.
4 - Cinemas/Theatres - I think I have them all covered that appeared in a few google map searches but some smaller or independent ones might have been missed
Click on each image below to load of the high-res version - If you have any suggestions or comments at all, I'd love to hear them
Hi there
This is amazing, thanks for sharing all your hard work! We are hoping to hear back on my Partner Visa soon with a . move out later this year - we have a 2yr old and a 3yr old so trying to settle on suburbs is like playing pin the tail on the donkey! We are currently interested in the easter, south eastern city suburbs, the eastern coastal suburbs and possibly just into the south eastern hills.....I think this is just the thing we need to start narrowing down a bit.
Nice to know we're not the only ones heading to Adelaide too.
Cheers

Just got my grant letter!!!
Beyond relieved and excited. Entry by 8th November. Good luck to everyone else still waiting we all know how stressful it is.
Thanks for all the help. You all have helped calm my stress levels ever so slightly. I’ll still check in and see how everyone is getting on.
That’s great news for you, congratulations!! What a great start following the Bank Holiday.
our DOL was 26th Nov so any RFI’s may come very soon..or better still, straight to Grant.

Hi CattyB and Bruce down under (how do you reference people in the thread like I see everyone else doing )
Same timescale for us and no acknowledgement other than a receipt so far.
I don’t think anyone is told when they have a case worker assigned, I guess a RFI or Grant is when you find out (could be wrong, not sure what others have to say?)
There’s been some activity for Nov applicants, RFI’s in the last week so hopefully we’ll hear soon.
is anyone involved in any other threads on the forum? Any particularly useful to read?
cheers

48 minutes ago, CattyB said:Hi All! I applied for a 309 mid October 2018 based on a de facto relationship (my partner and I had been living together for 16 months and together for about 2 years at the time we submitted the application) but have yet to hear anything. I’ve used a migration agent and they haven’t yet received confirmation that my application has even been sent to a caseworker.
Wondered whether anyone else was in the same boat? We’ve booked one way tickets for end of November so have heaps of time, but the waiting is awful!

Long time lurker - thought it would be best to actually get involved in the conversation!
We applied on 18th November 2018, and received our RFI today 16th April for marriage certificate (already uploaded) and my name change documents (I haven't changed my name as of yet).
Any other November applicants having any luck this week?
Hi there,
Great news, sounds pretty straightforward for you. We are 1 week behind you and haven’t heard a word from them since the day we paid.
Fingers crossed it’ll be next week.
-
Good luck to all the November applicants this week (& everyone else).
lets hope it’s a week of grants with no RFI’s
I'm sure they’ll want to clear a load off before the Bank Holidays!

Hey Everyone,
I was a quiet follower here in the last 8-9 month and even if I wasn’t too active, this forum helped us a lot. I spent 4 months to prepare everything neat before lodgement. I’m Hungarian living in Scotland and my wife is Australian by birth. We had a very strong evidence, been together for 3,5 years and got marriage 2 years ago. No kids.
Here’s our timeline;
Applied on 6th Jan 2019
Medical completed after 3-4 weeks.
All of the Hungarian (original and translated) and UK Police checks for me (applicant) and Australian & UK for my wife (sponsor) all front loaded.
All evidence front loaded in 2 days. (65/100)
No RFI - we just went from lodgement to grant and received the golden email on the 1stof April.
Still can’t believe it wasn’t even 3 months.
Good luck to everyone else waiting.Wow!
That’s amazing, I think generally they’re taking 5 or 6 months if they’re relatively straightforward looking at the spreadsheet from CEP.

Thanks! No nothing! Just the email saying the 309 has been approved. If I hadn’t found this lovely forum we would have been completely unawares!
I know, it’s the only thing that keeps you sane! Great to be amongst others that have shared experiences.
Everyone’s circumstances are different but for us, having to keep it a complete secret is exhausting....and exciting!
Now you can really start making decisions and march forwards.

We just got the email. Husband’s 309 has been approved - date of entry is August 2 - which has knocked us both over as we were not anticipating having to enter the country so quickly! Still processing but wanted to share for all other November applicants x
Fantastic news and congratulations, we are 20 days behind you based on submission dates.
No RFI for you then?
Cheers

I went straight to grant having pre-loaded everything, so it does happen!
Great, thanks for letting me know.
Congratulations on getting it through!

I've completed both the 80 and 1221 forms. Although they appear contain duplicated questions, there are are slight differences , which I've presumed is used to cross reference the accuracy of the information given. Having spent a lot of time gathering details and pulling together evidence, I decided not to leave anything to change and extending the approval process
there are online tools which you can used to convert the 80 and 1221 into editable word docs. that should speed up filling it out too.
We did the same, both forms even though very similar. What’s another couple of hours
-
We received my wife's Aussie police check today so I'm hoping that it was the final document to pre-load..and double hoping that doing it means no RFI and straight to grant? It looks like some in the past have gone straight to green on the spreadsheet, although I guess that could be just because CEP didn't have any further info from them regarding RFI's.
Damn...I've just talked myself out of it again!
-
Not sure about the police checks in your new name....maybe someone on here can advise?
we should do the monthly roundup, as we haven’t really uploaded and further evidence of our ongoing relationship since November (together 17yrs, married 6, 2 kids) I’ll get on to that.

I've just realised I said that I submitted in the future!
We applied 6 November 2018!! and the medical was submitted 26 November, 2018 xHi fellow November applicant!
we are also waiting for a response, the only document that I think we are outstanding is my wife’s Australian police check which in the post on the way to us... I’m kind of hoping that we get that uploaded before it has to be requested (so fingers crossed straight to Grant)
Have you submitted your police checks?

Great news, hopefully another flurry coming.

Hi all, Can I get included in this stream and inserted into the sheet. I applied 14th October 2018, I am Irish, Hubby Australian citizen we have been married for 21 years. Have loaded everything ,(through agent) except Medicals as Agent suggested I should wait for RFI indicating medical details (code). Hubby (sponsor), also loaded Australia and UK police checks. No RFI as yet, so I await contact from Department requesting me to undertake Medical, excited with all the activity and hope its not too long for all on the group. Heading for Perth.
Hi Meath Lass,
Looking at the spreadsheet and the typical pattern, I'd expect your RFI to be imminent but I guess you know that already.
Cheers

Yeah, I think that's sound advice. love Hahndorf, I'm sat staring at a painting that we bought from "Decor Dreams" right now (which we'll now need to pay to ship back!)
