Yes, that is what I did.

I can see on the Victoria list of skilled occupations for nomination, it says you need registration or reg in principle, which means AHPRA first.

South Australia currently has special conditions, but when they reset in June/July this last time, those conditions went away for a few months at

I'm currently working in the Caribbean so making that extra journey that just wouldn't been a valid logistical or financial option for me. I'll give it a few more months then may be draw a line under it. Maybe it's just not meant to be! Thanks again for your help

A few people have created a second EOI and have been successful. You will just have to prove your loyalty to the state that chooses to sponsor you.  I started out with NSW and didn't get anywhere, so I decided to change completely and go for South Australia. Someone else on here went with Victoria and was successful. We were both RN's with 65+5.

Thanks Jenki75. Am I right in saying you must apply to AHPRA prior to lodging a EOI for Victoria? That would mean travelling to Australia within 3 months to finalise the registration process before startinb the visa process? I see thatd what you've done?

South Australia was our first option but then my occupation was moved to special conditions and we had to start again with NSW

  3. I am a registered nurse nec. I lodged an EOI for visa 190 to NSW with 65+5 points but heard nothing for months. If you lodge more than one EOI for state sponsorship, does it decrease your chance of an invite? I was told states wont send you an invite if you don't apply solely and directly to work in their state alone. Is this true? I have no way of increasing my pointsso Im desperately trying to find a way around it before I lose all hope! Help!

  4. I am sending additional references for review to ANMAC in a bid to get an extra 5 points for years of experience. Does anyone know how long the reassessment takes? The original skills assessment was about 12 weeks but I've been told reveiwing new evidence should be much quicker?

Hey, did you guys look into getting your husbands skill assessment done? I worked in the U>k for 6 years and didn't have any qualification in cooking. you can apply through vetassess pathway 1, where they look into your work experience(need minimum of 4 years),  and then invite for an interview. If successful you get skill assessment as well as Cert 4 in cookery, which will give him 10 points for education. I got invited by NSW couple of weeks back with just 60+5 points, received my invitation  in just 20 days. I was in sort of similar situation as you are , finished my degree here in Australia, but for my occupation needed 80 points, so my lawyer suggested me to go through this route.

Thanks Garry. My husband is 48 so we were told the whole process needs to be done based on my points and that a skills assessment isn't possible for him?

What other states have you looked into? That occupation is open in all states except QLD, SA and WA for the permanent 190.

QLD,  S.A. and now NSW. My husband is an executive chef so we need to be somewhere that will offer both of us job options. I looked at job sites in Perth and no job adverts came up for my job which put me off applying there

I think NSW looks at occupation first, then points, then English score, then experience and then earliest EOI submission date.   Its a shame you missed out with SA. They took the special conditions off for the 2018/2019 new year but it quickly filled up and conditions went back on about 7 weeks after I submitted in September.

You mentioned that you are a oncology nurse, would you be able to qualify as a 254421 medical practice nurse? This could give you more options. SA still has availability under this Anzsco code, with no special conditions for a 190 visa. If you apply before conditions get put on and you meet the 5 yrs work experience you might get sponsorship.

I looked at that code but it looks more of a community/GP setting which isn't what I do. I don't want to change code and risk submitting an EOI with a code that isn't really right. Soooooo tough!

@Gwatson Unfortunately with 65 points, it will be a long wait for NSW. They invite people with the highest points first. If there is a way for you to increase your points I would recommend going that route. If your not locked into NSW maybe look at another state that doesn't invite by points first for example South Australia (South Australia has special conditions now for Nec nurse as they filled most of their quota this year for that Anzsco code).

489 visa could be an option as you get 10 points when sponsored for that.

Ok, thank you. Is it right that NSW review EOIs based on occupation before points? Im praying they do but not feeling hopeful. Already sumitted EOI for SA, waited 14 weeks then got told about the special conditions so that was another 3 and a half months wasted. So disappointing.

We have 65 points by the way with state nomination. What occupation are you? From what I have gathered this plays a big party in the state sponsored visas

Hi Aimz. I am a registered nurse nec (role on the priority occupations list) with 65 points. I applied to NSW only last week. What occupation are you? Any idea what the EOI processing average is?

  10. We lodged EOI 190 for South Australia 13 weeks ago (end of august). Their website says processing time is 10 weeks. If it was a definite no, would we know by now?! And if the occupation is full, are there ever an extra invitations sent out? Please

Have applied directly to the state as well as submitting your expression of interest?

    Yes both but Still nothing
