  1. Hi Guys,

I have posted a few things on here as I look to find a way to migrate to Australia. Having taken points and advice on here I am now looking at upskilling. I am looking at a career change to a plumber. I have enquired about taking a level 2 and level 3 NVQ over the next couple of years to start in September. My question is does anyone know if the assessing authority TRA take into consideration just the qualification or will I also need work experience in the same field?

Cheers and hope everyone is safe?

  2. That is what I am looking to do. I wanted to look at moving a couple of years ago but I didn't realise at the time how difficult it is. Myself and my wife are retail managers and though we have both been in those positions for around 18 years this isn't what Australia are looking for. We understand that we will have to look at a employer willing to sponsor but that is also very tricky. we are quite easy where we move to but I would like to move around the Grafton area.

    Good luck!

  3. Many thanks for that. I will have a look into that now and hopefully when the virus has gone I can look to get started.

Are you in Australia at the minute or are you looking to go over?

    Cheers

    Alan

  4. Hi #excitedbutterrified

Thank you for your reply, definitely worth putting your 2p in.

There is nothing wrong with the scouse accent but I understand what you mean. I have worked in Liverpool for some time and as a Wigan man I also have trouble with people understanding what I am saying.

I have now had a few people say the PTE is better and to a point easier. Will doing a PTE be the same as an IELTS when it comes to applying for a Visa?

    Kind regards

If you aren't set on a specific test also have a look at PTE tests. Many people think these are easier to get over the superior threshold with.

I think ultimately they are both as hard/easy as each other - it's just a personal learning style thing

Perfect. Thanks for the advice. I only know about IELTS as that's what was on the points calculator for the visa.

Also be aware that it's going to be months before you can take it as all IELTS testing is on pause due to CV19

    Hi Ausvisitor

That's not an issue. I just want to make sure I have understand what's needed of me when everything is all up and running again. I will have a look to see if there is anywhere I can get some practise questions from to make sure I am up to speed.

    Cheers

Have a look online at some practice questions so at least you know what your dealing with.

Also in the speaking part make sure that you go over the top with your answers as if you dont day much they will mark you down.

    Thanks Lavers.

Do you know if there is anywhere I can get practise questions?

    Thanks

  8. Hi Guys

Hope everyone I snot letting the virus get you down?

I know I have posted quite a few things recently but another question please.

While I am getting all my docs ready can anyone recommend a visa agent to help with a skilled visa?

    Cheers

    Al

  9. Hi everyone.

A couple of questions on the skilled visa and skills assessment's if anyone can help please?

I am in the middle of getting all my documents together so I can start the application.  I know VETASSES are most likely going to contact my employer and  have spoken to my direct manager and he knows what my plans are but he has promised to keep it to himself until hopefully the visa is an option. On the start of my application I have put him as my reference as he is my direct manager but do they contact him or the company direct?

Can I also ask if anyone who has used VETASSES do you have any advice for me.

    Thanks in advance!

  10. Hi Thanks for the reply.

i used a company based in the uk over a year ago and they scammed me. They said they would send my CV out etc.. I took them to court and got my money back. I don’t want the same to happen again which is why I haven’t used them yet. I would love to know if there are any migration companies that someone can recommend?

  11. Hi thanks for the advice.

my occupation refers to a couple that are on the lists to be fair. Do you know how close they need to be? I know that’s quite a varied question! Thanks Alan

  12. Hi Everyone

In regards to the occupations list does your job title have to match exactly or can it be a close match. I have read a few times that it has to be a close match but unsure.

I have been looking now for nearly 2 years to move to Oz and looking at the 491 and 494 visa. I am a General Sales Manger in the Automotive industry.

    Thanks

Do you mean a certificate of enrolment (CoE)?

The success of the application will depend on your specific circumstances. The fact that you will be including your wife and children, on it's own, is not a reason to refuse the application.

When you say you have "an Agent", do you mean a Registered Migration Agent, registered by  the Office of the Migration Agents Registration Authority, or do you mean someone operating overseas with no registration who calls themselves an Agent or Education Adviser, who is not allowed to provide Immigration advice?

    Hi

Thank you for your reply. Yes it’s a certificate of enrolment. The company I am using are called Go Study and they have helped me with the course. They will help me with my student visa application also. There has been no charge from them as they gain some kind of commission/payment when I enrol.

  14. Hi

I have now been granted a certificate of education in Australia to start next feb. I have an agent that will help me apply for the student visa 4 months before. I am told as I am 37 and wish to take my wife and 2 children over for the 2 year course they may still decline it? Has anyone had any experience with this?

  15. Hi I am hoping that the degree helps me and I can look for a sponsor once there. I have an occupation on the new DAMA for the Northern Territory.

  16. Thank you for your reply. I am really wanting to move there. I have a migration company doing a recruitment drive looking for a Employer sponsor but my thoughts are if not then if I were to study and get a degree then it may help me in the future.

  17. Has anyone got/had a student visa?

I am about to apply to a TAFFE higher education centre in Coffs Harbour for a years study. As I am nearly 37 and want to take my wife and children with me i have been told it will be more difficult.

I have been told that I will have to prove funds either before I get there or at the airport. I will have paid for my education and my children’s education before I get there but will be relying on working the 20 hours a week I am allowed to while there as with my wife. I already have a position but would like to know the chances of being asked to prove funds?

    regards

    Al

  18. Thanks for the reply, the Certificate just says that I am wanting to work and live in oz and that I have the backing of global migrate etc etc.. they complete a recruitment drive to help me find an employer willing to sponsor me. Looking at the visa options with my skill set it seems as though I would need to look at sponsorship as I don’t meet the criteria to go  straight to PR. With the new DAMA that was signed in the NT I would be looking at moving there.

  19. Hi guys

i am using Global Migrate to help me with finding an employer willing to sponsor me in Australia. They explained that I would need a Certificate of employment before they can help me look for work. Has anyone had any dealings with this or does anyone know if this is correct?

    Thanks

    Al
