  1. Well, I got the golden email a few hours ago asking me when I was planning to leave the country so my visa could be granted. Funny how the world works sometimes....Thanks one and all for your kindness and support. Back on the plane tomorrow night so I can see my Dad but great news that when I return I'll have that precious visa allocated to me;) Keep positive one and all. Good news is just around the corner. Hi all, really hoping CEP, gemtrae and charbok you get your Visa grant this week.

Apart from my RFI I didn't add anything though I had uploaded alot of info at start.

Keep warm, this week to those still here and stay cool out in Oz!

Yes, good luck peeps! It's got sadly very quiet on the approval front but I'm hopeful that now Australia Bank Holiday weekend is over, everyone will get back to work! Probably wishful thinking but you never know.

Cannot believe that this thread has been viewed over 30,000. That's so impressive!

LOVE this Jon. Just coping with a 42C day here in Victoria. No approval yet.....

  5. Hi All, me again! We haven't had approval yet but are going to bite the bullet and fly out early January. Just a quick question, as I don't have my Partner Visa I'll apply for a Tourist / Family visa (can't remember the exact name). My question is, when I get to Border Control will they be OK if I only have a single ticket or do I need to show a return flight? Appreciate your wise advice. Thanks, Gems x

I’ve lived in Bendigo for 8 years now, my children are grown up - one of which attends local university. This is a great place to raise your kids, access to Melbourne in a couple of hours on the train but rarely go as everything I need is here. Property is reasonable, city is growing, hospital has recently been expanded and provides great paediatric service with access to helicopter straight to Melbourne. I believe this is important living regionally with children although many don’t agree and bring their children up quite remotely.

Of many families I know that  that have moved into bendigo, there is still a sense of community and it hasn’t taken them long to fit in and find their feet, having kids actually is a bonus to achieve this. Schools have sessions where parents go in and help out too which helped socialise.

Castlemaine, is a beautiful town with a strong sense of artisan and somewhat eclectic styles. A great place to go to do something different. It is only 20minutes form my property so that’s great.

It’s easynhere to live a simple, yet rewarding lifestyle but also can accomodate a cafe culture which is popular here too. Tourism is quite large especially around Easter but it’s not like the Motorway travel. Summer in the parks is something to look at, always some sort of activity at the weekend and i notice lots of dance classes, sports, choirs, swimming to name a few for kids to be part off.

Maybe im a little biased growing up in a small pit village and the city isn’t for me I don’t know lol.

Inregards to the weather, we have the 4 seasons but yes it can be hot and dry. But so much to do inside it’s all good and soon get used to it

all in all, I love this country and would recommend it here especially here to bring up your children.

    Alison

Thanks Alison for this. We are relocating to Castlemaine in the coming months and really looking forward to it. So reassuring to hear other people's happy experiences! Gems

  7. Got my IMMI s56 Request for More Information last Wednesday which is great news. I need to upload police checks and also my hubbie has to create his own account (like many others have commented already). I thought this was already superseded in my application as I hand completed the 40SP form and uploaded. Alas, I'll need to type it all up again....

Fingers and toes are crossed for those yet to still hear anything.....

The requirement to intend to stay in the uk doesn’t apply if you are married to a British citizen. You can I believe even apply in the uk, leave and do the citizenship ceremony abroad.  We may well find out if this is true next year!

AMAZING! Thank you so so much for the guidance. This thread has been 100x more helpful than any agent or helpline that I've called! Fingers crossed for everyone that good news arrives soon. Gems

  9. Hi All,

Great to hear such happy news and my fingers are crossed for all the others waiting (particularly those that applied in the Spring).

Just wanted to pick your clever brains. My husband has permanent leave to remain in the UK. However, I am wondering whether we need to sort him out with a different UK visa before we leave so if our Aussie dreams don't work out, we've got a plan B. Does anyone have any clever thoughts?

    Really appreciate any advice.

    Thanks, Gems x

  10. So happy to find this website and thread. Late evening mad searches for other people who are in the same family position as us.....

I'm British, husband is Aussie - together for 10 years, married for 7 and 2 kids (sounds like the usual format) and currently living in the UK. Applied in June and done the medical (wrongly got very excited that are application was being expedited as it was asked for immediately) and had zero communication since.

Happy to hear that I can still head over to Australia on a tourist visa with the family (my kids and hubbie all have Aussie visas) and I just won't be able to work as we want to enrol our daughter into school in February. I thought that I may get stuck here in the UK on my own!

Our best friends applied last July and got approved in September so frustrated like all of you that 2018 is the year for slooow progress.

Good luck to everyone else and hope to hear good news from you all soon!
