  1. Hi guys, could someone update a spreadsheet.

I can’t believe it, didn’t get an email from MA today, went to check my immi account and found out that my visa was granted!!!

they didn’t ask for any documents, it just went from received to finalise.

does anybody know what do I have to do once my baby is born, which should be any day now. Do I have to add him to my visa or he is actually becoming an Australian citizen, so I will need to get him a local passport. Would appreciate any response.

Just stay positive and believ that your visa will come very soon. I also lost hope after I didn’t get visa, before new year, as i thought that baby will come before I get visa, but what a great news come into my house today, got visa and my son will be a first member of our family with Aussie passport)))

I have the same question and similar situation like yours. I applied TRT on 27 Feb, just 1 day before you and have no update yet.

We are also expecting a baby due date 21 Dec. I had a big hope to get some news before the due date but looking to the current processing time, I m hopeless for Golden mail before Christmas. As per my research, if the baby is born before the visa grant, we don't get any benefits for the baby and baby will get the same visa like the parents.

I wish you good luck and let's keep on praying.

Yes, I am the same. Baby due date is 4 of January, and it would be such a great thing to get visa before, so he can become an Australian citizen. But I lost my hope already. Once he is born, will need to get a birth certificate and submit it to our application and pay for additional person of course (((

  3. I recently spoke with my MA, and he told me that now they can see that most applicants get result in 12 months. He also said that they have some sort of meeting in July with others MA and submitted a complaint to prime minister about processing time, as it is an absurd. And employers did the same, as they need skilled workers to fill up the position. So everyone is pretty pissed off of this situation. I just hope that it will start to move quicker than it is now. Most of my friends, who applied a 1.5 years ago, got their PR in 6 months. And we have to wait twice longer. That is totally unfair.

According to my knowledge, interim Medicare is an adequate health insurance, and you can stop your private insurance while still being on 457 visa, once you got Medicare. (I did this by myself.) And I confirmed this information in the medicare office.

Also from my experience,  immigration department gives sometimes different answers to the same questions, when you call them. So I would not trust to what they say.

Could be, but I decided to keep Bupa until I get PR, just don’t want to give a chance to migration to find anything what can cause complications during processing time)))

Where did you see a word "private" in that requirement? It says "adequate", not private.

Yes it says “adequate “, which means if you don’t have Medicare you should organise something else, in this case private health insurance such as Bupa. What I am saying, that you should maintain your “adequate” health insurance while your 457 visa is still valid, even if you already got your interim Medicare card. We have interim Medicare, got it once lodged 186 application and using it all the time, because wife is pregnant and it covers everything, didn’t pay a cent. So I thought I could cancel my Bupa, asked my MA and she told me that we have to keep Bupa. I didn’t trust her much, so I called immigration department and they told me that while my 457 still in effect I can’t get rid of Bupa, but once my 457 expires and bridge visa will come in effect then I will be able to do so.

Not sure if it's been asked before.

We are on 457, applied 186 in Feb.

As far as I understand we are eligible for Medicare (blue or something like this).

Question: if we will apply to Medicare and we will get it, do we still need to pay for 457 Health Insurance (Private fund)?

As far as I understand as we are still on 457 (expires 2020) we must have the appropriate level of cover.  Is Medicare cover good enough?

    How does it work?

    Thanks.

Yes, you still have to keep your private health insurance while your 457 visa is valid. Once you move to your bridge visa then you can cancel it. I am at the same situation, spoke to migration department and they told me so. If you will cancel your private health insurance then you brige 457 visa requirements which is “you have to have private health insurance “. That doesn’t make sense!but it is what it is

Guys, can u change location (from sydney to Melbourne) but stay with the same company in the same role, even when still awaiting 186 ENS grant? TRT186

I don’t know if you can change it during your wait time, but I got my 457 visa while I was working in TAS, and then company offers me permanent position in VIC, my MA said that this not a problem as I still working for same company on same position. I just had to apply for 186 visa instead of 187.
