That's really weird, they delivered ours to Canberra and would have had to have come right past Albury/Lavington on the way up.  I wonder if it is a covid thing though ours arrived during covid last April.  Are you speaking to the English help line? Might be a case of trying them again to see if you get someone who has some knowledge of the geography. They certainly unload at either Melbourne or Sydney - our ship called in at Sydney but our cube was offloaded in Melbourne.

I've asked several times but they just say no.  It does seem quite strange, as they'll be going by the door!   I'll try the UK helpline.  Thanks 👍

  2. Hi

Thanks for you help suggesting an international shipper for my stuff.

Seven Seas will only take my stuff to Melbourne or Sydney, they won't bring it to Lavington, I'm on the Vic/NSW border.  So I'm looking for recommendations for getting my stuff from either of the capitals to Lavington.

Has anyone used a reliable removalist to do this please?

Tbh I can't see why Seven Seas can't do it as they pass by my door, taking it from Melbourne to Sydney!!

Thanks in advance for any help

    Cheers

They only granted 3730 contributory parent visas ( 173,143, 884, 864) and 669 non contributory (103 ,804)  up to end of their financial year ending 30 June. A total of just 4399!

Think they were then possibly  waiting to see what the next years allowance was in the budget whilst still processing some.

The figure announced was just 4500 , but there is no breakdown down yet on how the split is broken down between contributory and non- contributory. There  was also some mention -I think-  of possible prioritising of onshore visas in certain regional areas.

It’s certainly not good news for parents especially as it was also announced in the budget that borders were likely to remain closed till late next year and then only increase admissions  slowly. Think the skilled young ones will get most of the available places as that’s what Australia needs to get its economy up and running again.  Partners, for one year only,  will be increased from 42k to 72k - again it gets the young ones in who will pay taxes etc and help their economy.

Thanks for the info, I can live in hope!

I think that if, as a healthy older person, you're taking all you're wealth to Australia, then the contribution to the economy is considerably more than a youngster!  This seems to be forgotten.

Hello, no update from me. You can see timelines in my signature. I know a couple of people on here with very similar timelines have just got their 2nd Vac So I’m patiently waiting 😞 fingers crossed!

Hi, I'm in the same position, AoS accepted just before lockdown.  I've seen that some on here have been asked, recently, for 2nd VAC and had their visa granted but am I correct in thinking these people were converting their 173 (175??) into a 143?  Or are they still processing straight 143 applications?  Anyone know?

    Hi All,

I am a permanent resident waitingfor my citizenship ceremony which should happen online.

I have decided to apply for my parents contributory visa 143 for mum and dad.

I would be extremely grateful if someone who has/is been through this process to help me with the following questions:

    1. Should we attach police checks with form 47P right now or wait ti be requested.

    2. What are the time frames of Aos and Vac 2 requests from time of application? Also what are these amounts sitting at as of this date.

    3. Does it matter if parents pay for VAC 2 themselves?

    4. What documents have you submitted to show your residence in Aus as the sponsor? Does house lease , bills and Visa grant suffice.

    5. Income threshold if I apply as sponsor with my husband . We have 1 child of 9 yrs.

    6. Once Vac 2 is paid is PR guaranteed

    7. Any other advice or info you would like to share with a stressed out person who has just gone through a million forms and fees.

    Hi @Anash6

I can't answer all of your questions, but wondered if you realise there is currently an approximate 5 year wait for CPV 143?

There's no point in sending documents they haven't asked for as they'll be out of date by the time your case is picked up.

I hope things change and you don't have to wait too long, I'm currently 49 months and waiting!

  6. Hi this post is for the uninitiated, like myself, so you don't get caught out like we have. Even though I have an agent that could have explained this!

    Assurance of Support (AoS)

If you're going to need sponsoring for your visa, your sponsor will need a Centrelink Customer Reference Number  (abbreviated to CRN)

They need a CRN to enable them to apply for the AoS on the Centrelink website.

Centrelink is the Australian benefits department.  If your sponsor has never needed to claim benefits, it's possible they don't have a CRN.  The only way to get a CRN is to queue up at the dole office (Centrelink), wait your turn, and get registered. This can't be done online.

Centrelink are open 08:30 to 16:30. Monday to Friday.

Therefore, if your sponsor is working, it means taking time off work. Mine happens to have no holiday due, so is proving to be a pain.

I would say mention this to your sponsor before you're asked for your AoS to be lodged, could be years before, as once they have a CRN it will be easier further down the line.

They can go into Centrelink in their own time, perhaps a booked day of leave etc. And are ready when ever your case is picked up

I hope this info is accurate, if it needs amending then let me know and I'll edit as necessary.

My son has been told he needs to go in person to Centerlink to get CRN -you need to get identity checked - this is causing his timeline to be tight as he is working offshore just now - at least we have moved on from just waiting unable to do anything  - now waiting for police checks to come back ,have booked medical s, working of Form 80 , we are thankful we have moved onto this stage

Yes me too, this Centrelink thing of having to register in person is a real saga.  My daughter has no holiday due, so I don't know how we're going to get it done.  You'd think that it would be possible to create a CRN online, we do our police checks  etc online which is an identity check🤔

  8. Hi

I need some help!  Registering the AoS is a saga!

My daughter hasn't claimed benefits in Australia, would she have a Centrelink CRN?

If not, what is the easiest way to get one.  All phone calls are ending with no help as they are information lines, which it tells you after 10 minutes on hold😱

Any suggestiobs would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

    Angela
