  1. Hey Guys,

    Another grant story! 🙌

I received my ENS 186 visa grant yesterday evening.

The waiting period wasn't that bad and was in line with the current processing time. The time it took to verify my Nz criminal record was a bit long, however, that eventually concluded and the application was finalized.

My details are in my signature.

Cheers and all the best to rest of you guys here!

@Friskycharmer @Black Serpant  You guys should see your application concluded in next few days, all the best!

Anyone managed to get the NZ police certificate sped up ? 20 working days for a police check seems stupid to me.

Heard from someone that he was able to speed it up by calling them and putting forward a logical reason why. They did ask for a valid reason though and it is up to them to decide I guess. So if you can convince then, sounds like you might be able to get it sooner.

Awesome spoke with my MA he wasn’t aware of this. He’s just thrown a letter together that I need to sign and send back as he believes there isn’t a template or form to use as such ?

I was provided with a pdf file. I will message that directly to you.

Getting a bit concerned about my check as well now 🤨

my police check was quite basic just says at the date it was sent there was no criminal convictions.

What is this consen form i need to supply ? Do immigration actually contact NZ ministry of justice ?

Hey mate, the police check you got is the right one.

Take a look at this screen grab from Immi website that gives you the detail of the Consent. And yes, immigration actually contacts Nz MOJ.

Starting to feel the anxiety now about the visa. We've submitted all requested docs..and this weekend it hits the 28 days the CO gave us to reply. Let's see what happens next. Will it change status...who knows.  Screenshot_2019-01-21-08-20-06-73.thumb.png.0da8a148e09dbf2f2bc6c42f1a95209b.png

    Status: initial assessment

    March 2018

I was in a similar situation. For me, it took around 35 days for the CO to get back to me from the time they had asked me for more information(they gave 28 days to upload the doc). I am sure that you will hear something soon.

Hi there, sadly its worse than you think >> below is a screen shot from immigration website clarifies things about the NZ police check.

Have a read it will help.

As per below - This will take a couple of months for verification with NZ ministry of Justice.

IMMI Status has changed to Further Assessment

Interesting! I know that you are referring to an archived link which might still be relevant but my consent letter suggested that they only wanted to find out if there were more than one letter issued. I called MOJ in Nz and asked them about this process, you won't believe it but they said they usually reply back within 2 business days(almost always on the same day) to Immigration Australia. Was your consent letter different to what is shown below? I guess, if it is not going to take longer we will find out soon as well 🙂

I wonder if someone from this forum has already gone through this process in recent times within the last few months or so.

    Din Ding Ding ...

I have just received an email from my MA.

Nomination has been approved and they requested new consent forms for my NZ police clearance certificate.

This will take a couple of months to check with NZ ministry of Justice but at least we are half way done.

    Occupation: Cardiac Tech
    State: QLD
    Birth Country: NZ
    Stream: ENS 186 DE
    Number of applicants: 4
Visa and Nomination applied:  27 Feb 2018
    IMMI Status: Initial Assessment

Hey @Black Serpant mate, I see that you were requested for the consent form as well. Did your MA suggest that it could take a couple of months? If you apply for COJ clearance by yourself, it takes around a month's time but I would have expected this to be faster, like a week or two, when being verified via Australian Depart of Home affairs directly. Could you please let me know when you get any kind of update as you should hear something before I do? Cheers!

The cases are no longer handled by only one CO.

For a while now the structure has changed to a "team environment", to cater for people leaving and going on vacation.

My case for example had 3 CO working on it - so although it's possible to be the same one, it's very unlikely.

You were right Hex. The processing center remains the same but the CO isn't. Just got an update and they have asked for me to sign a consent form for Nz Criminal check although I had provided a new Criminal Check from Nz. Looks like this is going to be another long wait for another 4 weeks before I get a final decision. I believe you were requested for further info twice as well and both times the turnaround time was around a month, is that right?

    Hi @nircha

    No, haven't heard anything yet.

The processing office taking care of my application is in Queensland, where is yours?

But I don't think it'll be like that, maybe you'll get the answer before me.

Bellabonkers had documents asked 2 days before me, I think, and got the answer before the 28days.

And I think her case officer was based in Queensland as well.

Looks like mine is in WA although I am based in NSW, based on the email I received for further information it says "Processing Office: WA PESE". As per HEX, he saw some communication back after like 35 days of info being asked, so makes sense for us to see something in and around that time range I guess.

Hey mate, I see that you were asked for further information on 9th Dec, have you heard back anything from dept of home affairs after providing those docs and after seeing the status change to further assessment? I was requested to provide docs on 10th, so I am expecting both of ours to be finalized or at least looked at again at around the same time.

Got confirmation from MA, it is overall score which matters in case of functional english proof.

I was recently asked by DOHA to provide a new proof of functional English for my wife. Reading along the lines it may mean overall but I would also suggest to be on the safe side and perhaps give a new test to try to achieve individual band scores.

Here is what their requirement was when I was requested for this information, this is a screengrab from the PDF they sent over:
