  1. That is very true. And that is something I love about Australia. However, there are some confusion in the specifics. As I mentioned earlier, even though we have the points we could not apply because we were confused with the choices. I know we have employer sponsor options, and with four years graduate work permit, there might be a good chance of managing that. But it is also worth exploring alternatives, as there are some. Both Economics, and statistics in general skill list and not in skilled independent list. Management consultant has been added in skill independent and there are chances of me being qualifies with some business analysis experience and with a quantitative analysis PhD, and a business bachelor and masters. Yet, in Tasmanian website it is mentioned that it’s own students can apply for state nomination with two years degree and just need to select one job from any list. Also I have passed vet assess assessment for uni lecturer and I believe that is also in general list. what I need is to get some suggestions here, based on available information on how to proceed. Agents can be employed, but I need to take informed decisions as well. Is it true that I can select any job from general list and wait to complete my PhD for Tasmanian state nomination? Should I apply for post docs and look for employee sponsor? Or should I proceed with management consultant directly in 190 when the degree is completed.
  2. Hi Rammy. That’s a goal indeed. A lot of competition as well. But there must be a way to residency. My wife also had a Australian phd in epidemiology and our points are 70, but I am confused withthe category.
  3. Hi. I need some suggestions. I will start with introducing myself. I am Raisul. I completed bachelor in business administration in 2007 and a Master of science in Finance and Banking in 2008. I worked as a university lecturer in business school for 4 years, teaching quantitative analysis to management etc. I received a scholarship from school of business and economics in university of Tasmania to commence my PhD. I arrived in Australia with IELTS 8.0 academic. I commenced my PhD in financial econometrics. Over the years the concentration started to focus more on equity and investment analysis, risk analysis and sectoral analysis. Recently I taught quantitative methods to economics students as a fixed term lecturer. Now I am about to complete PhD and want to prepare for residency. 1. I understand Tasmania is more flexible for its PhD students and PhD graduates do not require work experience in the chosen field. I hope that helps me. But I am in my third year. Should I immediately start application process? Do I need academic or general ielts this times. 2. I am not sure what category I should apply for. I passed vetassess for university lecturer in 2015. However I am not sure if university lecturer I should apply for. I understand both uni lecturer and economist is not in skilled independent. However management consultant is in skilled. Given my business degrees, my PhD in sectoral and structural analysis with econometric and quantitative methods, can I not apply for management consultant ? Can anyone suggest what listed job shoukd suit me. thnx Raisul
