Onshore parent visas are 804 and 864. Visas are taking many years to process at the moment. No one knows for sure if they will take 8 years from now. If you can apply on shore, then you will see the wait out near your family, but you will be on bridging visa A, which has  various restrictions.

    Thank you

I am sure you have to apply for 143 offshore. I don’t think I’d worry too much at this stage if you earn enough to sponsor her as it will be about 8 years before she will get the visa and so much can change in that time. Not sure re which one to go for but several people on here say they regret the 173 as it takes longer.

Thank you. Processing time based on web is not 8 years, is that a typo?

  3. Hi all

I have been in Australia since 2015 on 457 and April 2019 I had my PR granted. I am a single mum and have 2 kids under 18. My income is 55k plus super since 2015. I want to apply for my mum on sub 143. I have read on different sources but still confused. Please help me with the questions below:

    1. Am I qualified to sponsor my mum now since my PR is just granted in Apr 2019?

    2. To my research, my income is enough for AoS. Pls advise if it is correct.

    3. My mum is holding visitor sub 600 with no 8503 condition. This means I can apply onshore for her while she is here on visa 600?

    4. What is the best visa to apply? 143 or 173 and why?

My mum is 76 years old now.

Thank you very much for your help.

@Andy Truong Sorry to hear about the refusal, would you mind please expanding on the reason as to why it was refused?

Also, you say your son is withdrawing - personally, I think he would be crazy to give up a "free" 186 (based off you being the main applicant) - I'm sure there's a real good, valid reason he doesn't want PR.

@Andy Truong, to my knowledge, if he withdraws 186 visa application, then he is still valid on his 457 until it expires.

But as @Hex said, it is a free based 186 so why withdraw then. As he is a dependent so whatever visa you are on, his visa is the same. If he wants to stay longer in Australian, he can apply for another visa onshore while he is on 457. Bridging visa will be issued once he lodged his new visa application.

Doing this (the medicals when told to do so) just means that you're willing to wait an extended amount of time for the grant.

Typically, once a CO requests a new medical - there is a minimum of 28 days (to upload the new files), then additionally about another week (if you lucky) before the CO revisits the case (at soonest).

For me, the wait was not worth it, hence, I was going to redo them all on expiry. This is entirely a personal / circumstantial decision and differs from person to person, depending on if they can / are willing to wait.

Thanks @Hex. I understand that. However, my case is different and I do have a question and seek your guess/understanding. Please check your Inbox. Thanks

    Hey There

Just wondered if anyone had any advice on reapplying for police checks or medicals.

I got my police checks and medicals approved in September 2017 - how long do they take to expire? Should I apply for new ones now and upload or just wait to see if they need them?

    Any advice would be great!

The Police check valid for one year. I had mine expired and I re-applied as well as re-uploaded.

Medicals also valid for one year but I do not redo until I am told to do so.

No, because of transitional arrangements for 457 visa holders. Basically, if you had a 457 with pretty much any occupation (originally the CSOL), then you can could be nominated for 186 visa. The March 18 deadline, if I remember correctly, would only apply to 186 DE nominations, not TRT, so you should be alright.

Additionally, I don't think your MA would have filed for a visa you are not eligible for!

    I think @Sickofqueues is right.

I found this information which might be useful to read: https://migrationdownunder.com/457-visa-changes/

I would not call it random. They are processing Feb 2018 at the moment, which we clearly see on this forum. One of the reason some people have to wait for longer times is their profession has been removed from the list.

One person got her PR granted after only 10 months though her profession had been removed since July 2017. I called that the luckiest person

Her File being opened or not is irrelevant.
Her being the partner on the visa is also irrelevant.

If my Wife was an axe murderer they wouldn't look past it due to her not being the main applicant. Ok...that's an extreme example but you get my point.

Ger her husband to call their Migration Agent and discuss it with them.

I think all dependents are relevant to the main applicant, depends on how serious the issue is and whether CO thinks that person will be safe or costs the country if issued a PR. That's why dependents also have to submit necessary documents, together with the main applicant.

One of the examples is here, PR rejected due to the daughter's illness https://www.sbs.com.au/yourlanguage/punjabi/en/article/2017/06/14/indian-family-faces-deportation-due-daughters-illness

As FYI - all your medicare usage / spending is also tracked and logged online (on your MyGov account). I'm not sure if it is available to CO's or if it makes any difference.

I have 2 children who used it pretty often and I didnt have any queries.

Thanks Hex. I actually use it more often than my kids :)-

    Hi,

I know from personal experience it doesn't cover all.

I had to have a radiology scan back in August and i was not covered because of the colour of my card! - Total Racism! haha!

We laughed - but i still had to pay!

Bella, so far all my GP appoinments, scans, examinations are all covered. But I asked because I don't know what are hidden behind that they are not covered.
