Hi, can I ask what exactly does Short Term Skills Occupatinal List actually mean? Like whats the definition of it? The visa sites im looking on, none actually have a definition of what it means and Im trying to explain it to the Aussies in the family? Apologies if this is a stupid question!

There are lots of Paraplanner jobs in australia it seems, but the title isnt on the list.

So it would appear i can fall under a different section for my job on the skilled list. Thats half the problem with that list, the names of particular roles, or industry sectors doesn't always add up or describe the particular title you have. Just got to try and figure the wifes role out now. Her job is a Business Support Administrator & Trainee ParaPlanner in the finance industry and investments industry - any ideas?

Ok then ....... ha Guess that answers that then. Was thinking more of a working visa or something but if its permanent or nothing then we will look at that then. What does a sponsored visa entail? Do i basically get a job before I go and that qualifies me to be there? Has anybody gotten through on a sales job as such?

Hi, apologies if covered already, but we are considering looking at moving to Oz for a couple of years initially, make sure we settle, the kids settle etc and wondered of there is s specific visa for this? Like a short (ish) term or temporary visa to allow us to move thee, work and send the kids to school and basically live a normal life but not have to have gone through the full permanent application. I appreciate if we decide to stay we would need to do that down the line. Thanks Paul

Thanks for that. I dont intend to quit my job before i Know I have a Visa, but your head spins with all the different connotations of what to do. The family over there certainly helps settle and understanding what to do as we can get them to do a lot of running about for us to start.

Afternoon all, Or Morning depending on time zone! Just looking for some info and where to start with moving to Australia! Myself, Wife and two Boys are thinking of a fresh start on the Gold Coast, we have family living there anyway and have been out last year. Just wanted to know where do people start really? Visa? Jobs? House? Selling house here? Any initial Advice would be great or links to places I can go to just see whats what. Thanks in Advance.
