    Hi,

I spoke with a lady from Dogtainers today regarding taking our 2 dogs back to the UK. The lady asked for photographs as one of the dogs may be classed a snub nosed breed as she is a Maltese X Shih-tzu. If she is classed a snub nosed she will not be able to fly with Emirates to Manchester and will have to fly with Qantas to Heathrow. She said they will need to assess with photographs. They will also need weight and size of the dogs. I was told they will assess the best route for the dogs which could mean a 5 day journey if travelling through Emirates with a 2 day stopover in Dubai which I didn't expect.

We have the same concerns as yourself our Spoodle is a nervous dog. We plan to size the dogs for crates through Dogtainers in advance to get them used to it and to use in the car to go for drives and then a nice walk, and to use to sleep in. We want to make sure they know how to have a drink also with the door closed.

A friend of our recently used Dogtainers to take her Golden Retriever back to the UK. His trip took around 7 days in total with comfort stops. He was fine when he arrived and was ready for a long woodland walk, she was amazed!

    Hi,

thanks so much for the information! I definitely had not considered it would take more then a day as I assumed it was one flight through. Will definitely speak to dogtainers once we have made more of a decision on the move

  2. Hi we are thinking of moving back to the Uk from Australia and would like to take our 2yo dog with us. We are in Sydney and want to go to Manchester or London.

our dog is very nervous of people he doesn’t know so please if anyone ha recommendations for companies who are good at dealing with this and do you think less stops would be better for him? Ie if we flew out of Perth?

    Hi

We are moving from Sydney back to the UK as soon as possible.

Postponed due to Covid & now we are in a bit of a rush as hope to arrive before start of September so kids can start school on time.

Have only had a quote with Allied Pickfords - about $14,000 for 4 bed household move - would love suggestions of other companies to get alternative quotes.

My other checklist (what am I missing???)

Dog vaccinated and Pet Traveller crate - conditionally booked

    TOR form

Application to leave Oz via Dept of Immi

    One terms notice to schools

    Flights to book

    Cancellation of all direct debits

    THANK YOU 🙂

can I ask who you used for the pet transport that is currently operating?

  4. Hi we are supposed to be getting married back in the uk next year. We currently live in Sydney and will continue to do so after getting married. My partner  is Australian and eu dual citizen so can do so without an issue at the moment. Anyone know where we can get some free advice on the impact Brecht might have on this?

  5. Hi,

I am currently a UK resident but will be moving to Oz in March. We are planning a wedding in the UK for next year and I was wondering if anyone knew of wedding insurance that allowed you to be non resident. Alternatively if I take the insurance out now while I am a resident does this satisfy the condition or do we have to be resident the whole time?

Alternatively any good  Oz insurance companies that are not too expensive for destination weddings?

    Hey guys!

So I had my medicals in Knightsbridge last Saturday and it was actually not a bad experience at all. They were uploaded to Immi today and it says that no further action is required which I am assuming is good news!

    Timeline so far is:

15/11/2018 applied front loaded with evidence and police checks for applicant and sponsor.

    01/12/2018 medical in Knightsbridge completed.

06/12/2018 medical uploaded to Immi with no further action required.

Think its the long wait which many of you have been through for us now! I'm praying it's a speedy one as we would like to be in Australia for June next year!

Just a quick question, we would like to keep uploading further evidence to our application each month to prove it is continuing. What sort of things do you guys recommend uploading?

We uploaded any communication such as phone records/facebook chats, bank statements and any joint holidays/invitations etc to show the continuing relationship while we waited for the decision.

  7. Hi Jon,

We have just gone through all this as well!

we didn't have to pay a pet bond but do ask about strata approval, we made it a condition in our rental contract as they have the power to refuse the pet just like the landlord.

We dont have water included as the property is individually metered but some of the ones we looked at it was included. They all included the strata fees as I believe the landlord legally has to pay this and the council rates.

I have fallen in love with Lane Cove remotely I think.  Hopefully it is as nice when we get there!  It is perfectly between the job which hopefully will now materialize in Macquarie Park and the City.  As you say a very expensive area generally, but Lane Cove a little bit less nuts than Mosman area.

We will be close by this area in Marsfield :) will be great mix of leafy suburb but not too far to the city once the metro line is up and running hopefully

To Sydney or the Blue Mountains area. Depending on where we can both get jobs and where we can afford a house! My husband's family all live in that area so it will be nice to have a bunch of connections from the get-go (and people to stay with until we sort ourselves out!) 🙂 Anyone else heading that direction soon, I'd love to hear about it!

Good luck to you, fingers crossed!

We will be Sydney also! my partner already has a job, so hopefully I can find one as well.

    Hi there!

Long time lurker on this post. Just wanted to chip in to let you guys know that I just got my visa granted this morning! Both 309 and 100.

    Lodged: 1 June 2018

(Police and health documents uploaded within two weeks or so. Everything else front loaded.)

    Granted: 12 Nov 2018

So that's about 5 and half months in total. Heard absolutely zilch until this morning but woke up to a great surprise! I started getting excited when I saw a lot of grants appearing in the last couple of weeks. So don't give up hope, people, they're still filtering through obviously :)

I married my Aus-citizen husband at the end of August this year (engaged since Feb 2017) and we've been together for six years now. So I guess a pretty straightforward application compared to some. Booking our flights today and hoping to move at the start of April (originally hoped to move around February but my sister's getting married at the end of March so we'll go straight after that instead!)

Best of luck to everyone x

    Karla

Congratulations! really good to still see some coming through. I applied for my tourist visa on the 9th and after an anxious few days wait (all the others were instant grant) we got that through this morning so at least I know I can visit my partner over the holidays :)

Still no contact on the 309 visa front, I will now upload my flight and visit details to my immiaccount though so they are aware I will be onshore at those times in a  vain hope this would mean they would grant before I go :p

  11. I am hoping to travel over for a visit in December but only for a month so will apply for the evisitor visa. I will then travel back again end of march for a few months to visit once I have finished up my current job. My partner has already gone out as his new job has already started so I am looking forward to the holiday time to visit and see the new house that he has organised in my absence!

Technically yes, however, if you do this too often, you risk being questioned at the border and possibly have your visa cancelled for suspicion of not being a genuine visitor.

Raul sorry not my intention, I was thinking if I get a visa and visit for one month in Jan and then for just under three months from March would this be ok on this type of visa, or is it 90 days cumulative within a year?

  13. Hi,

I am looking at the evisitor visa 651. It says multiple entry for 12months upto 3 months each trip. Does anyone know how long you need to leave for in between each 3 month trip? So could you go for 3 months then go to New Zealand for a week and back to Aus for 3 more months?

  14. we are hopefully making the move from the UK to Sydney for my partners work. Family are asking if it is possible to send us gifts (such as clothes etc) and care packages of some of our favourite foods?

Does anyone know of good companies for this and if there is anything to avoid such as wrapping the gifts?

  15. Hi Everyone,

we are moving to Sydney form the UK and I am looking for some advice on the best way to find good deals on our household bills. I currently subscribe to money saving expert and have several websites I like to use like USwitch and energy club to find good rates.

Please could you let me know any good sites for getting the best broadband, phone sim, utilities, insurance deals? Also whether paid TV subscriptions are needed to watch Game of Thrones or if there is something similar to Now Tv that allows you to pay per month?

Thanks in advance for any help/recommendations

  16. Hi,

We are applying for a partner visa offshore. We currently have 5 stat decs, and waiting for one to get certified. Can we upload this additional one after we submit the application or do all documents have to be uploaded at the same time? We have been gathering all our evidence which is now in order and have almost completed the form online so was hoping to be able to submit this week.

  17. I am currently subscribed to money saving expert in the UK and use a cashback site regularly on all of our travel and online buys to help with our budget as much as possible. Please can anyone suggest a good Australian cashback site to sign up for and also if there are any newsletters/sites like Money saving expert in Aus I can subscribe too for tips on saving money on insurance/phones/ best buy bank accounts etc

  18. Hi,

We are looking at moving over to Sydney for a job near the Macquarie University train station. We would need to be able to commute by public transport from our new place hoping to be around 30mins each way.

We are ideally looking for somewhere with some nice green parks/areas to go walking in as we hope to get a dog and nearby shops or pubs with good food would be a bonus (10/15 min walk). We have a budget of upto $650 a week for a 2 bed for a couple.

Any ideas of areas to look in would be appreciated.
