    Hi All,

Great to hear such happy news and my fingers are crossed for all the others waiting (particularly those that applied in the Spring).

Just wanted to pick your clever brains. My husband has permanent leave to remain in the UK. However, I am wondering whether we need to sort him out with a different UK visa before we leave so if our Aussie dreams don't work out, we've got a plan B. Does anyone have any clever thoughts?

    Really appreciate any advice.

    Thanks, Gems x

My hubbie had permanent leave to remain as well but he then went for the citizenship - he got this a few years ago, not sure how long it took but it’s defo worth it.  He applied based on his mother being English rather than being married to a Brit.  Can your husband do this?

We got the email this morning. 309/100 granted overnight whilst we were asleep one half an hour after the other. We applied on May 9th via a migration agent with everything uploaded except the medical which was requested a few weeks later. We have heard nothing since then until now. I am british, my husband is an eligible NZ citizen - he lived in oz 1999-2001. We have both lived together in the UK pretty much since then. Married 13 years. 3 kids with dual NZ/UK citizenship also on the visa who were also granted permanent residency last night. Had booked flights this week regardless and I had a 3 month visitor visa. I am due to start work in february and my work there had starting looking into an additional temporary work sponsorship visa to ensure I could start. No need for that now. Slightly in shock but it’s an amazing feeling. Clearly they are suddenly processing their many piles of waiting visas.  Hopefully all of you waiting will get the news you want very soon. We didn’t believe it would happen then suddenly it does.

Congratulations ! They really are rolling through them this week. Good luck for your future plans 😊

I can believe they have been told that by someone, but I'm not sure it is such an exact science.  I shall cling to the fact that I submitted last processing year and hope I am not too far into the pile!

Yeah I agree, secretly I think it’ll come through this year but there are no facts to go on for anything. I very rarely login now to check because the whole process is slightly soul destroying.

Didn’t someone on another thread submit in April and got their visa granted last month? I’m sure that was mentioned earlier in this thread.

Just been looking at that Concept Australia website and their statement re processing times for 300/309 visas :

‘Although in the last programme year (July 2017 - June 2018) most applications processed at the Australian High Commission in London were decided within 6 months, we have been advised that applications lodged in the current programme year are expected to take between 10 - 14 months to be finalised. The new processing timetable is roughly in line with global processing times which is due to an increase in the number of applications being processed and the level of staff available at the Australian High Commission.’

Stupid question...does that mean that those applications lodged prior to July 2018 might be a little quicker (okay so I’m clutching at straws here!)?

I lodged my application in May 2018 and I had a skype call with Concept Australia in September and he informed us it was likely to be 10 months.  Obviously this could be wrong, as no one (not even the migration agents) have any idea on when the visas will be issued, but it’s the only information that we’ve been given so just going on this.

  5. I feel quite positive but then we also have a back up option of me going on an e600 visa as I’m on a career break anyway. Also we have a bit more time than some others on here as we are now waiting till April to go. But we are sold up and renting so ready to go,  currently just getting shipping and removal quotes which is blowing my mind!

Fingers crossed for you all  🙏🏻🤞🏼

    Hi all,

When we submitted our application May 2018 (spousal visa 309/100) processing times were 12 to 14 months. The most current which was updated 18 July 2018 is 21 to 26 months- almost doubling our original processing time. I was asked to do medical exam straight away which would make it invalid in 9 months time. Should we be going off the original processing time or this new processing time?

Also, we were under impression that form 80 does not need to be submitted unless requested by case officer. Is this true? We haven't been assigned a case officer yet.

    Thanks for any help!

We applied in May as well. Also loaded medicals straight away as the system asked us too. We did the form 80 - we just loaded everything possible so not to delay the process any further. Now it’s tge waitung game. I heard through another thread that someone who applied in March just got their visa granted. Fingers crossed.

I did apply and was granted a 12 month tourist visa tomwait in oz whilst application pending but

you can’t work so just be aware of that

Can I ask how you did this and who advised it? We phoned the immigration office on Tuesday and they told us they were unable to advise. Did you go through an agent or who did you speak to?. We’d like to go by December as my Aussie husbands parents are old and sick.  We applied for my visa in May. It’s saying now 21 months. I have no intention of working for a while when we get there so was thinking of going on a tourist visa but not sure of the next steps and if it’s possible. Appreciate anyone’s help here!

Yes it’s pretty frustrating I agree. Did you have a fully front loaded uploaded application? If so, you won’t hear from a case officer until a decision is made. In terms of the 12 month tourist visa, I’ve actually been wondering if there are any visas whereby my husband can work? Does anyone know if this is possible? Nadine1, you can go to Aus and then if your 309/100 is ready to be processed, apparently they will see you are in Aus and will ask you to leave for 3 business days (eg a short hop over to New Zealand) and then they’ll grant the visa whilst you’re away. You have to be offshore for it to be granted in other words. No need to reapply for an onshore visa. X

Yes we uploaded everything - full evidence of our relationship and marriage for 10 years from financial to social including all our daughters details who is dual citizen.  It’s interesting what you have said as I’m British and my husband Australian and I don’t need to be able to work anyway when we first go as I will be settling myself and my daughter so it sounds like I can go on a tourist visa so that I don’t hold up the whole move? I think I need to look into this option a bit more so we can consider going in December.  Thanks for the information xx

Hi everyone, I’m also in the same situation. I’m the Aussie, my husband is a Brit. We met in 2005, married 8 years ago, bought houses, shared banking and have a child who is 6. We applied on 18/4/18, and it was all fully uploaded (medical, acro etc). We have heard nothing which is ok, except that the processing time has since increased even further to 21 - 26 months. I’m freaking out. When we applied it was 6-9 months. How is anyone supposed to plan anything at all?! Has anyone been assigned a case officer at all?

For all of you who used an agent, has anyone been informed of the increased time frame and/or had any info about this from them? I’m irritated that mine hasn’t said anything especially as the agents are relatively well funded by us!

Good luck everyone! I have my fingers crossed for you all.

Hi - I’ve just checked out IMMI account too and ours has now also increased to 21-26 months.  TBH it’s really frustrating as I really was starting to feel quite positive about it all.  We applied 13 May, loaded police checks at same time and medicals 2 weeks later.  Have you been assigned a case officer yet? We’ve heard nothing other than the automated emails.

Is there anyone here who has also considered or applied for a 12 month tourist visa as I was thinking that maybe I can get a tourist visa for now so at least we can go and start setting up our new life and then wait for my resident visa or would that mean reapplying as we would be onshore application? Does anyone know anything about this?

You're right Jon, the notification document within the Immi system about the medical just shows automatically once the fee has been paid, and the acknowledgement is the same, it's an auto-generated document once the fee is paid. The medical notification in Immi is not the official email request from a CO. I actually think this confuses a lot of people.

Yes we got the notification in the Immi system to do a medical (not an email) so I arranged this immediately and after I passed the medicals the clinic loaded within 2 weeks of our application.  It just feels weird not to have a case officer yet but hopefully because it’s quite straight forwards then we’ll hear soon.   I’ll just keep the researching for schools and social activities going!

  11. Hi - can anyone give any advice on the timelines expected for a temporary (or permanent) spousal visa to be granted.  I’m from the UK and married to an Australian for 6 years, we have owned a house together for 8 years and we have a daughter aged 6 who is also dual citizen in UK and Australia with Ozzie passport etc.  We applied for my visa on 13 May and had acknowledgement the same day, my medicals were requested immediately and loaded 2 week later.  We’ve not heard anything since and not been assigned a case officer.  Is there anyone else who’s in a similar situation and has any advice on this.  Be interested to know other peoples experience and timelines so that it gives me something to work towards as at the moment we have no idea if it’ll be months or years! We’ve sold our house ready for the move and are renting until we hear.
