I got to know of the email address virtual.ceremony.nsw@homeaffairs.gov.au from forums including this one, and not from the case officer.
During my interview, I asked the case officer if there is a way I can attend the next available ceremony, reason being is I am applying for a government job requiring a baseline security clearance which only Australian citizens can apply for. The case officer mentioned that I would have to wait for the invite coming from my local council. She (case officer) kindly checked how many are in queue in my council, and said there's 'quite a large queue' without specifying the numbers (I didn't ask either how many to be exact). Got home and I saw from the forums that I can request a virtual ceremony so I thought to give it a shot.
Amazing. Thank you. Sounds like it worked out well for you. I'm in bayside council so not sure if it's same procedure but will give it a whirl when my time comes.

Hey everyone. Lodged my citizenship application on 2nd October 2020. Some of my friends have just got called for their test(they lodged in July/Aug) so approx 30 weeks since lodgement. Out of curiosity is anybody else timeline like that. In Sydney

Delighted to say it is finally my turn. PR granted this afternoon.
After 8 years, two WHVs, two 457 visas, 1 withdrawn 186 visa in 2016 (due to employer withdrawing nomination) and finally the lucky 6th visa, we are finally residents
Good luck to everybody waiting..

Hi Sj,
Our timelines are the same. We got S56 done on August 26th. Have you confirmed all documents submitted once you uploaded your S56? We did this and the status automatically changed to “Further Assessment.”
No- our MA doesnt want to press "submit" as she wrote a letter requesting why the s56 was requested as the document they requested is correct and in date on our application. Which is frustrating- hence why our status is still initial assessment. But it does say in the s56 request than once the documents have status received that Immi have them so fingers crossed it wont be too much longer. Our MA thinks it was just an oversight on the case office part and hoping once they look at it they will see their mistake. Sooooo just have to wait until they look at it. I am hopelessly optimistic and think that our case will be re-opened this week *immi account page will be on refresh overload. Congrats to you again- such great news considering you thought you were in for a longer wait.

Hi guys,
It’s funny. Just last night I was nervous about my visa and wrote on this forum. This morning, we got our visa granted!
Thanks for the help. I was persistently following the timelines and discussions to get a sense of where we stand.
All the the best for those waiting!
Wow that is early in the morning. Congrats

Hi Folks, just some questions- trying to wrap my head around what the next couple of stages look like.
Does your status automatically change from initial to further assessment once the 28 days after s56 request has passed?
After the 28days have passed are you no longer able to upload documents?
Thanks

Sounds like it would have been much easier to just follow S56...
I agree. The s56 is for something which is already uploaded and in date so unsure why it was requested. I think that she is been cautious but she re-uploaded them with the letter. When I questioned I was told she required a response so she can action what was required.

Hey guys
how long it takes to receive some feedback after you provided them the extra infos they asked for?
thanks
Im on 3 weeks. But still sitting on initial assessment as my MA doesn't want to press the "I Submit" button as she included a letter asking why s56 request for documents already uploaded. So wants a response before pressing submit. Very annoying. Im happy to submit and receive another s56 if required. Is there a limit on the amount of times documents can be requested. I assume not...

Hey, I'm in a similar situation. CO sent S56 requesting a new NZ police check which I sent the next day. It is already ~12th day since I've been contacted by CO and my case is still in the Further Assessment. As someone mentioned here, if the same CO will open your case then your PR will be granted straight away.
And your nomination hasn't been granted yet? I thought they only touch the application if the nomination is granted.Same.. I'm on day 7. Still sitting on initial assessment. Not holding out too much hope that it will be looked at anytime before 28 days is up.

Hey everybody. Got s56 request for new AFPs as previous certs were no longer valid. We got them in May 2019. Seems an odd request. Has this happened anybody else? Waiting for MA to advise on Monday. Just curious... TIA

Hi Guys
Keeping with the scope of "helping each other", I was wondering if anyone could help advise me here;
I'm coming up to apply for citizenship and honestly have no idea where to start. Not many MA's assist here as it's not profitable for them and hence, I'd need to do this myself.
There are a few people in my office that I could (and will) ask for assistance, but thought to start here.
- I know this is slightly off topic to the forums scope but still think it could be useful to those that have PR and need to know the next steps? Thanks in advance.
Hi Hex,
Just curious how you can apply after 1 year? I always thought it was a 2 year wait.
Thanks

Hi @sj88 we somehow have similar timelines and both applications are still on "received" status as well. It would really depends when CO will open up our files but let's just hope it would be sooner.
Happy Thursday!
Yes very similar. Yes the same, settling in for a long wait but also been foolishly optimistic that it also could be any day now ha

Hi everybody.
Just wondering what everyones time frame is after all your information, AFPs, medicals etc have been uploaded. How many weeks are we all sitting on waiting for news?
I am still waiting on nomination to be approved- lodged April and lodged application with AFP in June, and medicals approved on 27 June.
So 4 weeks for me. Just curious to see everyones current timeline.
Happy Thursday

Thanks so much guys.
Just imported my application and it's currently sitting as "Further Assessment" . Not sure when it had been changed to this status. I have read a few pages of posts from this forum and have seen some mixed comments about the process time.
Hopefully not long now, if I am one of the lucky ones who can get it after around 35 days.
I have also imported my application, but just want to double check that this doesn't affect the MA version? I still want them to have full access and control. I just want to be able log in and check status. Thanks
-
Thanks @Muppett waiting for it to be cleared. Have some medical issues which MA said shouldn't be an issue but you never know with immigration *any excuse I will relax once it has been cleared. So keeping an eye on the immi account

Off topic (slightly) but there is a petition doing the rounds to have the government recognise parents of permanent residents and citizens as immediate family so they can enter/visit Australia. Petition closes in a couple of days. If you haven't already please sign and share so we might be able see our family soon. 🥰
