FYI (and the information of others) the PVC is now issuing invoices for 2nd VACs for offshore parent visa applications that can be settled via BPay or PostBillPay (Australia Post's solution).

Until recently this was only possible for onshore parent applications.

    Best regards.

I take it this is Offshore only, so if you apply onshore you would still have to snail mail a cheque or pay the huge credit card fees?

We were told medical results go straight to immigration and if they are OK we would hear nothing.

    Thanks for your reply.

My parents had a couple of red flags, nothing major, but it would be good to know it's complete instead of waiting, waiting, waiting!  Oh well.

If you log into your medical immi account, you should be able to see its status. Before it’s done it will say incomplete, and then about a week later it should change to completed.

    Thank you for replying.

I logged into the eMedical Client and all the details are still there.  It doesn't say incomplete or complete?!

I guess just wait and see.

  4. Anyone have any idea how it takes from when you go to Bupa to getting the result?

Parents went to Bupa last Tuesday 28/9, got an email (assume automated) saying results with Immi in 5 days.

Do date nothing and nothing on our online account?!

New account from Transferwise.... might be of interest to some of you. I'm not recommending this and I haven't checked it out myself yet.

We have used Transferwise, very happy with them.  You can also set up daily emails to update you on the rate.  We found it provided the best rate.  You can also lock a rate for 24 hours.  Google it, hope it helps!

  6. We applied for 804 Feb 2016 (note heard a peep since other than acknowledgement a day or so after lodging) and got a request for Police, Health and Character Assessment (form 80) this morning – Great news!

Unfortunately at exactly the same moment we sent the 864 contributory forms and they are currently with a courier to Perth!

Agr – What are the chances??!!  Literally within an hour of courier arriving to collect forms I get the email for info!

It would be handy to get all the forms in so that when Immi eventually assess the 864 they have all the forms, but I guess I have to now wait on them asking for this info for the 864 visa???

     Thoughts?!

Sorry did not realise they are on the 804 visa,.Since the 18/6/2016 to 28/3/2018 they have reduced the 804 queue by by 350 but if they are already there with a bridging visa does it matter

No, but I'm trying to decide if worth spending $100K for 2 contributory visas.  What is the benefit?  Access to Medicare?

Pertenhall  you should get your daughter to complain to the complaints dept of centrelink again on the number I sent you. You should have had a response last time within their 10 day limit. She's best  to call her  the time I said .

I finally got my AOS accepted after nearly seven months, but our daughter had to be persistent with them and the complaints dept. I also had to get a co-assurer because our daughter put a tax return in for her mat year. This then had to be the one they count. They lost the co assurerrs ID, They were waiting for the bond proof , when they already had it. Absolute nightmare.

I believe there is about twenty weeks to interview after application, but you are justified to complain again to the complaints dept especially when they didnt reply to you within ten days last time you complained.

I called The Dept of Human Services and asked how it would work if I was the assurer and was on mat leave.  Mary, the lady I spoke to said it would be fine, there would not be a problem.  I was give a record number and noted her name, the date and time of the call.

I'm now concerned as it looks like your daughter was assessed on her mat income and you had to find co-assurer.

Would you be able to clarify, as I can't see info on how it works if your'e on mat leave as the assurer on the Dept of Human Services website and it I may have been given incorrect info over the phone!  ?

    Thanks in advance.

Your acknowledgment letter should show a date which you can look up to find your place in the queue. For info there are only 340 cases prior to 2010 which makes the waiting time for 103 less than 8 years for those currently being assessed

Thanks, but my parents are not even in the queue yet, they submitted and were receipted in Feb 16, the Dept are only just assessing for queue date March 16 applicants.

So, if they get in the queue this year (which looks likely) then their queue date would be 2018.  The Dept are currently finalising applications for a visa those with a queue date of 2010.  It's been that date for quite some time!  There are about 4000 infront of my parents (and they're not even in the queue yet).  Thanks though.

I see, makes sense now. If they are elderly, and it sounds like they may be from what you said then can they not do the aged visa onshore?

Yes, they are onshore and have applied on shore for the non contributory visa and would apply on shore for the contributory parent visa.

  11. Hi Tulip,

As a tax payer totally agree on the 10 year wait for pension.

What I was trying to say is that do you have to wait 10 years for the concession card, ie you don't get the concession card until you are eligible to pension.

My parents will be unlikely to be around for the pension and $100K is a lot of money so I'm trying to advise them whether to go for contributory or stick it out in the queue for non contributory visa (they will never get!).

  12. So to summarise if I have understood this correctly, there are 3 cards.  Cont Parent Visa holders at some point will be eligible to:

NSW Seniors card = Gold Opal and a few other minor discounts, ie not worth much, get this immediately.

Pensioners Concession Card = Only get this card when you get the aged pension, ie 10 years after being a PR:

    https://www.humanservices.gov.au/individuals/services/centrelink/pensioner-concession-card/eligibility/who-can-get-it

Commonwealth Seniors Health Care Card = Qualifies non-pensioners to discounted scripts, BUT this is the bill govt are trying to put through to have PR’s wait 4 years.  Subject to the passage of legislation****  If PR approved before 1st July you will get this card, after 1st July if the legislation is passed you will wait another 4 years (after you get PR).

  13. My understanding is if you apply for a contributory parent visa you need to be PR for 10 years before the aged pension.

If the bill goes ahead it would make the wait ANOTHER 4 years after PR for:

 Commonwealth Seniors Health Care Card  Low Income Health Care Card

I was trying to work out is if you need the above card( or cards) to get seniors rates on prescription medication and as Ramot asks would you get in home care straight away when you have PR or have to wait on the above cards?  Hopefully you don't have to wait 10 years until eligible to aged pension!?!

I agree. Exactly what I thought That 7175 was the figure ! And that they only issued about 6000 from that. Totally confused!

    Hi All,

Sorry if I’ve posted this in the wrong place, but I wanted it to land where parent visa applicants are currently reading.

It looks like government are trying to pass a bill (*subject to legislation) to have newly arrived migrants granted PR after Ist Jul 18 wait 4 years before they are eligible to the Commonwealth Seniors Health Care Card and a number of other things:

    https://www.dss.gov.au/sites/default/files/documents/05_2018/updated_original_factsheet_-_encouraging_self_sufficiency_for_newly_arrived_migrants_-_4_year_narwp_1_0.pdf

I think Allan Collet originally posted the above link.

My understanding is this card is access to Pharmaceutical Benefit Scheme prescription medicines and certain medicare services at concession rate.

If this is passed I’m wondering exactly what you get for your PR at in the region of $50K a visa?  Or am I missing something?

Should we start writing to the Greens, etc who supported the Assurance of Support changes?
