Thank You all for the reply..

i have spoken to several people who have taken the test and they all ways fall short by a fraction with both test, this seem to be a trend hmmm...

"jetblast" yes that is what a done a few days ago signed up to e2 language, i also had a consultation meeting to see which package was best for me, and they told me just the budget package as im so close with the exams, they also recommended me to stick with pte rather than changing between the two exams, i did tell them i find the content easyier with ielts as i only need to take ielts general, but they still advised me to take the PTE, so thats what i will stick with.

cheers kriss will stick at!!! fingers crossed for the next 1

hi aimz you said you lodged with 60points in feb also, if he gets superior english that will gain him 20points right??? or you mean hes already got 10points from english in the 60points granted? fingers crossed for you guys!

i just hope the next couple of rounds they will drop the points to 70 for invites, i really do not want to get state sponsor and work in a regional area and after 2 years have to move all again ?

    Hey Will,

I know how you feel, the tests are so frustrating and I’ve spoken to so many that have had to resit loads of times. I finally passed mine last week- I used the e2 language videos from YouTube and they showed me where I was going wrong. It does take a lot of practice but it can be done - my English is awful and even I passed!

There were 800 invites in the first round of invites this new financial year which is a really good sign - people with 70 points before March were invited. There is a round of invites expected this Wednesday so if they continue with 800 it won’t take long to get an invite with 70 points.

Just a point to remember- if you go state sponsorship you don’t have to be in the middle of nowhere - I have a 190 for NSW to work in Sydney because that’s my plan even if I get the 189. So either route you can get where you want to be.

Best of luck with your PTE test and hope you get an invite soon!

Is the 190 visa the same as 189 visa apart from the fact that you are tied to the territory for two years. is it still a permanent residency visa?

Yes they are both permanent residency visas with the190 having a  two year commitment to your nominating state. Depending on the state and job you apply for it can be quite quick or painfully slow for exampe -I’ve heard that Northern Territory never does a 190 while other states do big batches of invitations at random times in the year

    hope this helps

Yeh you are right, maybe I am just being pessimistic. Just find it difficult to believe a country that for political reasons needs to show to the public a tighter control on immigration would start making things any easier, 2017-18 average was 70 points, 2018-19 70 points again, can't see it.

From what I can see online - it looks like they are going to be offering about 15000 - 189 visas again this year. People did get invites last year on 70 points even when invite rounds dropped to 600 so I am hopeful that I will get an invite but I have also put in for the 190 just in case. It will largely depend if they do invites evenly spaced across the year or large batches. I have read quite a few people now moving to the 489 visa as well to try their luck with that one

It just seems odd that it doesnt matter what your job is.

If you top office jobs always being excepted because off the points, how do you fill the engineering jobs etc that can't match them points?

Its my understanding that the job is taken into account when you apply for a 190 visa so I have applied for both types.

  5. My understanding is that for the past few months there have only been 600 invites per month for the 189 visa which has meant only 75 points getting the invite recently. Most are estimating that the invites will go up to about 1000 or 1200 per month now that the new financial year has started. That should see people with less than 75 getting the invite but still a bit of a wait.

My migration agent had said that it doesn’t matter about your job for the 189 (except for pro rata jobs) - it all comes down to points and those with the higher points get called.

  6. I received an email today from AITSL to say that my assessment has ben processed and will be posted to me. It doesn't actually state if it was successful or not, has anybody any experience of this?

I kind of expected they would say it was successful or that I would get asked for more information if it wasn't to be successful.

    any help would be appreciated

I would look into doing it yourself a bit further unless an agent gives you a good price. Most of the stuff you produced to AITSL is what you would attach to your application. If you get a positive skills assessment then most except medical and criminal history should be in order. Just make sure you have the means to prove everything you claim points for. Immi-account is surprisingly quite user friendly.

Have to say I caved and hired a MAGA  today. I am sure that I would have been able to do it myself but i think it will be quicker and smoother with an experts help. Reading some peoples accounts on here - where they had to wait months to be told they were missing information has made me think that its worth hiring someone. She has already highlighted several things that have held other applications up that were similar to mine so i can preempt those issues.

I filled out the application for my wife and that took around 6 weeks. It was just before Christmas though so they may have had a slump in applications. I wouldn't worry as 9-10 weeks seems to be the norm.

May be a bit late, but its worth asking for the statement of skilled employment as it is no additional charge if requested at the same time. Makes it a little easier when you fill out the visa application.

Thanks for the info, i am probably just worrying for no reason, its very frustrating having to wait on one thing before you can do the next but i guess im in for a long road ahead so may just get use to it

  9. Hi all,

So the general advice seems to be -its best to fill in the form 80 and include at the beginning of the process to speed things up

just a bit stuck on the travel history for the past ten years - how specific do you have to be? I couldn't recall dates of holidays from almost a decade a go- I would be lucky enough to recall the month and year!

I also live in Northern Ireland so frequently travel throughout the UK and Ireland - does that count as international travel because technically I could do all of that travel by car and without a passport if i wanted to?

Really worried about filling it in wrong and then adding months on to the whole process- I am not getting any younger lol

  10. So I am claiming points for 9 years work experience

    - the last 7 years should be ok as I have references form the Principal and my contract

    - the first two years all I have so far is a reference from the school with the details of when I worked there

I have asked the HMRC for the P60 for the last 9 years

Does anybody know if this is sufficient evidence for the 189 or 190 visa application??

between this and the Form 80 I am thinking of hiring a migration agent to help - other than this i think i would be ok on my own because its  a pretty straight forward set of circumstrances

I got my skills assessment for Secondary School Teacher from AITSL in November.

The website says it takes 10 weeks to process the application. They emailed me after 9 weeks to say they’d posted the result and it arrived a few days later.

I was panicking with mine too but from what I found online, most of them take around 10 weeks :)

thank you so much for the reply - this whole process has me on edge

Can I ask if you've gone ahead and applied for a visa?

Hi @patrickc I have been using services from Best Migration Services https://bmsmigration.com/ and have found them to be good and professional, in fact they saved the day for me by submitting my EOI as soon as I received a positive outcome from VETASSESS as they anticipated my job code to would be dropped to the low demand bracket and true enough it was dropped to red (low demand) 2 days after my submission.

Please do let me know if you need their contact details and I would be happy to share them with you.

    Cheers!

if you could send me their information that would be fantastic- thank you!

  13. Hi everyone,

I applied to the AITSL for secondary school teacher a while ago, its been over six weeks since they have received the application. Its a bit crazy that there is no way to check progress on these applications considering how expensive they are. Does anybody know if this time frame is normal? if there was something wring would they have contacted me by now? just concerned since the appeals process is just apply again and pay the fee again

any help would be much appreciated

  14. Thanks Marisa,

I agree, the whole process seems crazy so best I have someone to help in case I get set back months. I cannot believe you have to pay so much for a visa and they won't help you with it and you can't even see how it is progressing. How are you supposed to plan the sale of your house and give in notice etc. but if i was 30 years old I could just hop on a plane and go there with no issues

  15. Hi everyone,

So I am a bit confused by the whole visa process, timelines etc and I am thinking of getting an agent to help me. Does anybody have any advice on if this is a good move or a recommend someone ?

I am just waiting in my skills assessment to come back before submitting my EOI and will have 60 points as it stands but should be able to get 20 points for language

any tips would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks

  16. Hi everyone,

First ever post here so sorry if this is in the wrong place! I am pretty much at the beginning of the whole process and getting confused

I have applied for my skills assessment with AITSL and have booked my IETSL test for the end of the month - so I am hoping that I will be able to submit my EOI for a 189 as a teacher with 80 points next month.

I had thought I would get an invite really quickly since they are so far away from the occupation ceiling but from reading forums I am hearing that people are waiting a long time to get called :( and then even longer to get the visa approved and that time seems to be getting longer. Can anybody tell me what direct grant means - hoping it is some time of fast lane ?

Is there any difference in timeline for a 189 visa or a 189 visa?

Would people generally recommend getting a migration agent and front load everything to get a visa quicker or should I do it on my own?

Thanks for any info people can provide
