  1. The advice I was given was that we would have to go onto the new TSS visa and then wouldnt be able to apply for PR from there? I will ask the lawyers about DE and see what they say! I have a meeting with them tomorrow and was asking here to get some ideas to float to them if anyone has been through similar. Thanks for the help guys. Dave
  2. Hi Sammy, Correct - she is a diploma qualified room leader - However has an ACECQA certificate saying she is qualified as an Early Childhood Teacher. She has done a 4 year degree course in childcare education - however I believe the degree was accelerated and completed in 3 years. Maybe that is why they are getting confused? Thanks for your help guys! Dave
  3. Hi, My partner recently applied for AITSL assessment but it has come back not suitable. We are slightly confused as to if we should appeal the decision or not. My partner has a dutch bachelors degree in childcare education. Living already in Australia on a 457 visa the first thing that happened was getting it recognised by ACECQA who assessed it as being the equivalent to an ECT as she wanted to work and we werent thinking about using it for migration back then. We were over the moon that we had done it and thought that applying for a 189 visa was one step closer. When we got to starting the application we realised we needed to get it recognised by AITSL so sent of the paperwork and also included the ACECQA certificate for good measure. When it returned as not suitable it was because she had not completed a 1 year teacher training following her 4 year degree. We thought that if your degree was in education and it had covered the correct units you did not need this as a separately (as ACECQA had assessed it). The salt in the wound for us is she is already working in a childcare centre in Australia and allowed to work as an ECT; but she is not allowed to immigrate for that role. It doesnt make any sense and we are so confused and what it right and what is wrong. If anyone can help us we would very much appreciate all the assistance we can get in trying to figure out what to do. We cant bare the thought of not being able to stay after my 457 visa ends. Thanks, Dave
  4. Hi, I have been on a 457 visa for nearly 4 years and am desperately trying to find a pathway to PR - I have started a family in Australia and feel sick now at the thought of having to go back to England. Unfortunately my issue has been that I changed employers part way through my 457 visa and now that I cant renew on a 457 visa and my job is on the new short term list I may not be able to get PR. I wish I did not change employers but I was being taken advantage of due to the visa restrictions and ended up suffering from serious mental health issues - I quit thinking that was it for me but found a great employer who takes great care of me. Is anyone else in a similar situation and has anyone got any ideas on ways to get around the 2 year same employer rule? Thanks, Dave
  5. Hi, I have the same question almost as Darren. My partner and I have been in Australia for the last 4 years on a 457 visa. Unfortunately I changed employer part way through and now the visa has changed cant apply for PR. My partner works in childcare and we have been trying to go down the ECT route. The issue we have had is that her qualification has been recognised by ACECQA as an ECT, she has been working in the job role for 2 years but her AITSL has come back as not suitable. Apparently it is because she needs a 4 year degree + 1 year of teacher training - however her degree is in childcare education and includes teacher education. (Her degree is from the Netherlands). Has anyone else had similar issues - ACECQA says YES and AITSL says NO? Thanks, Dave
