  1. Hi everyone, I logged an EOI in january on 60 points. I have recently obtained more points now giving me 70 points. I have updated my EOI this month through my agent. My question for anyone that can advise me is will I possibly be waiting a predicted 5 months from now or do they take my previous log in January at 60 points, resulting in me possibly being successful this month or next, thanks.

Hi thanks for the enquiry, I am a mechanic and have been employed from 16 years of age. Jo, my partner is the nurse, she has 3 years post qualification experience, sorry for the confusion.

Also be sure you cannot count your time as an apprentice towards points for experience

Yes I am fully qualified from 2004 so that is just over 13 years experience which gets me the points for 10 years+.

Hi Lothar, Im not entirely sure if it is a pro rata application, I will have to look into this. I got a 7 average on my Ielts after my 2nd attempt so that might not be a route I can go down. Hopefully my partners 5 points will help, she is also a nurse which may make a difference.  We would like to move to Queensland and my trade is on the QSOL. Perhaps a 190 visa might be better then, could we apply for a 190 along with the 189? As this including the spouse 5 points would take us to 70 which might make us more desirable. I'm 33 now and have 17 years experience so waiting would not change my status if I'm correct. Thanks for your help. Kriss.

Hi there, Just wanted to say whatever you do make sure you try to be as accurate as possible because if you can't evidence what you've put on a EOI you automatically get rejected and application fee isn't returned to you. You mention you are 33 with 17 years experience, that means you have been working as a nurse since you were 16! Is this correct?

Could you try for 190 visa. You will get an extra 5points. However you will be tied to certain state for 2 years.
I had 60points inc ss and got invite from NSW in 2 weeks back in Nov

Thanks, that's good to know NSW are taken people on with 60 points. Hopefully I can squeeze more points from Ielts, if not, this is definitely something we should consider.

You should look at improving your English score for more points and possible state sponsorship as well.

The last invitation round required a minimum of 70 and the one before that 75.

It is becoming very erratic and unpredictable, so the more points you can score the higher chance you have.

Not a good idea to make irreversible decisions such as selling your house, until a visa has been secured.

We just wasn't aware of this change, perhaps being slightly naive, however, we are fully committed and I am taking Ielts next month so fingers crossed for a good result.

In my opinion, getting those 10 points for English would sort you out. Worth looking into.

That's great thanks for the information I will definitely look into getting them points either from pearsons or Ielts. We was told that because I have more years experience that it would be better to go through me even though nurses are on the critical skills list. What we find frustrating is that our agent said 60 on a 189 should be ok with no problems, maybe we should have looked into it more and not put all of our trust in the agent. Thanks again.

    Hi,

Is 321211 is a non pro rata application? If so there is a chance to be invited on 60 points, although you will most likely wait 12+ months, and in this time, depending on factors, such as age and experience you may lose points for age or gain points for experience.

At the moment there is a backlog on invites so even 65 points are looking at around 6 months wait until after the year roll over in June 2018, probably why the agents are hesitant to take on people under 70 points.

The good news is that the EOI is valid for 2 years and yes you can update it with your partner to add 5 points. Just be sure you cover all bases here to be able to prove these extra 5 points. Also when you do this your date of effect will move to the date you added the update.

I have a friend who got an invite on 65 points last year so there is a chance, you are just unfortunate that there is such a back log at the moment.

While your EOI is in at the moment and there will probably not be an invite until June 2018, you can use this time to try get more points? ie) Add your Partner, or did you get the maximum points for English, or will you gain more experience during this wait?

This page gives you an unofficial estimate of your wait times: http://www.iscah.com/will-get-189-visa-invitation-iscahs-unofficial-estimates-12th-january-2018/

  8. Hi guys I'm hoping somebody can help. My migration agent has recently put an expression of Interest on my 60 points for a 189 visa for a motor mechanic General 321211. I was advised 60 points would be fine however my advisor is now off sick so their partner company in Sydney are dealing with it. Now they have emailed me saying I probably will be unsuccessful due to people on less than 70 points being rejected. Now I haven't added my partner for an extra 5 points. My question is can I add this after they have put the EOI through and who is giving me the correct information? We are very worried as have spent thousands, sold our house etc all on the promise that it will go through ok. We would be very grateful for some extra help, many thanks. Kriss and Jo.
