  1. Hi guys,

I applied for my citizenship at Paramatta(NSW) on 30/06 and just got an invite today, I have rescheduled the appointment for this week. I’m planning to fly to South Australia for work later this week.

Wondering whether it would be possible to have the ceremony at a different council ? Would that slow down the process? That is sit the exam/interview in NSW and request to have ceremony elsewhere.

    thanks in advance 🙂

  2. recently got my PR and my parents  are now considering to make the move to Aus as well. My dad runs a successful business back home.

I looked into the business visa criteria and they would need to invest 1.25-2.5 million, which is doable for them. They score ~ 110 on the points. But the main issue they are having is that they turn 58 this year. It states that you won’t be invited if you are aged > 55.

I was wondering whether anyone has any experience getting a state sponsorship? Any chance of that happening? And any agents on this site who deals with this sort of visa?

    Hi

I put an EOI for a 189 visa in July and yet to hear anything. I have 90 points with my partner on my application. We both previously worked in Australia for 4 years with full AHPRA registration between 2015 and 2019. We now live and work in the UK but plan to go back to Aus.

Having not heard anything I am increasingly concerned there is something wrong with our application. We currently have non-practicing AHPRA registration; is this sufficient to act as an appropriate Skills Assessment? Or do we need full registration?

    Any help much appreciated.

    Thanks

I would have expected an invite with 90 points. Did you guys apply for a 190 as well?

I wouldn't trust anything in that first link, frankly.  Judging by all the grammatical errors, they can't even speak English properly!  Very unprofessional.

@Areyousure, I thought you had to have nursing experience to be eligible for a 482?   Any experience gained before you qualified does NOT count for that visa.  Do check that carefully, because it would be a shame to let the employer apply, and then get rejected be because you don't meet the criteria.   On the face of it, the 485 is your next logical step.

Medicine is on the eligible list as wel since we do 3 years of clinical placements in hospitals as part of our course.

  6. I’m about to graduate from my medicine degree in the next couple of weeks and would be starting work at NSW hospital on a 2 year contract. I got the option of applying for the post graduate visa 485, or ask my hospital to sponsor me for the 482.
Any advantage of the 482 over the 485 visa?

  7. Do you think the number of people applying to Australia would decrease over the next few months? ( recession, job losses, delay in doing exams)

and the possibility of Australia increasing the intake to boost the economy, leading to a decrease in the points required to get an invite?

what are your thoughts on this guys?

Have you looked at ieltsliz.com or even udemy? The writing part needs to follow a set format in order to score high marks. Provided you have a good grasp of the marking criteria, you should be able to better yourself.

    HTH

That’s what I keep on telling myself, but end up there with less prep, is it possible to go from 7 to 8? Or should I just try and do pte?

  9. hi guys,

need some advise, I just feel more comfortable with ielts, so thought I'll have another go at it. I have done the Academic IELTS over 5 times over the years for university and so on, with my overall score always being 8.5. I always got above 8.5 for both reading and listening, with my speaking being between 7.5-8.5 and writing 7-7.5( think I got 8 once)

I did the academic IELTS in September and got L-9 R-8.5 S-8.5 W-7, so my question is should I prepare well and give it another go with academic IELTS since I'm so used to it? or do the general IELTS? is it easier? as in easier to score? The reason I prefer to stick to ielts is that i'm so used to it, I'm quite apprehensive to even switch to General Ielts lol. What would you guys suggest?

hello there  as a family we went to oz two and half years ago.....fell in love. I'm a nurse with 12 years experience, came home and topped up my diploma to a degree. now finished. really want to give it a go on the 189. do I need to take an English test?

Yes, you will need to do an English test to claim the 20 points. You can either do ielts or pte.

Don't get downhearted about it I applied in April for my nomination and got asked to apply in 48 hours with 70 points (65 before nomination),

What seems to be important (for NSW at least) seems to be the English points awarded they seem to prioritise those with 20 English points

    What was this for?

Hopefully it won’t be too long. Fingers crossed for you!

Yes, I already teach in Queensland on a temp visa. I’m hoping to get a 190 for QLD as I already live and work here. Are regional visas permanent? South Australia regional would be quite tough (school wise).

Any advice you need let me know

it leads to permanent visa once u live and work in that area for 3 years. With the recent changes, regional visas seems like that only possible option for a majority of people tbh. And best thing about south australia is that Adelaide is considered regional, with a population of 1.3 million.

    Hey.

Thanks. It took 12 weeks to come back, that was with no extra info. Waiting on yours?

Yep, waiting on mine, submitted 2 weeks ago. So are you currently working as a teacher in Queensland ? Best option right now is the new regional visa to south Australia. Seems like they would be sending a lot of invites so as to meet the quotas.

    Hi,

My skills assessment has just come back and I’m ready to submit EOI. I already work as a full time teacher on a temp visa in QLD and would love to stay in this region. I understand that 190’s are closed at the moment but it says it will open again.

Whenever researching the QSOL some have secondary teacher on there and some don’t? Does anyone have an idea on this?

I’m going to apply for Victoria too as I would just need a job offer first, whereas NSW seems impossible.

Thanks got any advice in advance

Congrats on the positive assessment. How long did AITSL take to process it?

New to this but can't find the right info anywhere. Applying for 189 as early childhood teacher

Just submitted EoI after successful skills assessment, points total of 75. Is there somewhere of having all points 'confirmed' before lodging Visa? Or is the points breakdown on EoI pretty solid in what it states?

Depends on you doing it properly. Did you do an English exam to claim the 20 points? And also work experience can be assessed by AITSL as wel.
