  1. My agent went to last week Melbourne MIA meeting. She said even the immigration officer had no idea about upcoming policy changes and some questions....In MIA meeting, they said there might be some changes about 186/187 occupational list in January 2018. Well, let's see.... They used 7 months to finalize the grandfathering provision for 457, no one knows how long and how they will decide the new policy for 186/187. It's so struggling for all the 186 and 187 applicants.

Thanks for that screenshot Alex, however as you can see this is a general document from DIBP and does not address whether the changes affect undecided applications. The "Who is affected?" simply designates the target audience of the circular. I don't think you can rely on one word (prospective) to make a presumptive claim. Technically anyone who currently has an application pending is "prospective".

As I have previously posted, their internal documents as of now state that if the nominated list (legislative instrument) changes, the application cannot be approved. We need to wait for updated information to see how they will proceed.

I'm not spreading false information, rather to the contrary. People need to be aware of all the issues so they can be prepared for any contingencies that arise.

I totally agree what you have said. To be honest, we can see some examples for 457 back in July. I have heard some applications have been refused, because the occupations were not on the list. I know someone who has been refused after July 2017 because he is above 45 years old at that time. This man has already got his nomination and medical examination. However, let's still be positive to see whether the policy will be the same for 457 and 187 in March 2018.

  5. I found an interesting thing on my nomination. I have submitted my nomination application in July 2016, but when I received my nomination in July 2017. It showed the lodgement date is in Feb 2017, so is that mean I have been waited for 7 months to be assessed...... Still waiting for my visa.....Really long!!!

Waiting for my visa from 16 months and 4 days.. nomination was approved on 16 may 2016??

How could it be so long? Have you contacted your MA or immigration officer? It seems like the processing time on the immigration website is only about visa application, not nomination plus visa time.

Mine was the same as Snowflake - heard nothing and nothing changed until the day before it was granted

That's good to know. Did you know when your CO has been allocated?

Not necessarily, a visa of mine went from "received" to "finalised" and nothing else in between (it was granted).

That's a relief. Btw did you know when your CO has been allocated?

  9. Hey everyone, my visa status in immi account shows 'Received', so just wondering whether the visa status would change to 'Assessment in progress' when CO has been allocated? Thanks!
