  1. Thanks that's great. only problem is I don't this I would get a positive skills assessment from ANMAC as it states you need professional reference for at least 3 mths full time equivalent work. I only work 16 hours per week. ?
  2. The English tests scare me. what scores do you need for NZ registration then? Laura x
  3. Thanks so much. I have proof of my secondary education do I still need to do the English test? laura
  4. Hi Does anyone know if part time work of 8 years counts or does it have to be full time?
  5. Hi I have an advanced diploma in nursing. I am wanting to go to oz on a 189 visa. would the appropriate steps be as follows: 1. Take English test 2 register with NZ 3 register with AHPRA through TTMR 4 put forward EOI 5 await invitation what evidence am I likely to need for registration with NZ?
  6. Thank you DukeNInja this is really useful
  7. Yes I can see that however many social workers with old DIPSW qualifications have had positive assessment results for migration purposes but not necessarily been accepted for AASW membership. You can still work as a social worker without membership however you cannot call yourself one and the role is called community worker instead.
  8. Thank you all for replies this is useful
  9. This is exactly what my community nursing degree course does, top up my diploma. thanks I will look for that thread.
  10. If you read your link about social workers. It confirms my point above. my public health degree upgrades my diploma to a degree.
  11. My husband has looked into it and he can have his skills assessed with a diploma. Social workers don't need degrees if they have enough experience. He's now on a social work forum and on there there's other people who don't have degrees who have been successful. His experience will give him 10 points. Social work is not a registered profession in Australia and therefore a degree is not essential as per AASW.
  12. Hi can anyone help? my husband is a social worker and is 39 in January. Currently would get 25 points for age. He needs to do an English test and a AASW skills assessment before applying for the 189 visa. If he turns 40 before he is invited to apply will his points change? Does he need to stay in that bracket throughout the whole process?
  13. My current qualification is an advanced diploma and my community nursing is a BSC in public health, therefore I will have a degree by then. we have decided that my husband is going to apply for the visa as his qualifications are recognised and his experience counts too.
