  1. Hi guys
Just thought I would start this thread for those who have been waiting for six months or there about (or even more).
Just a place to express thoughts, concerns, worries, explain or the joy of receiving your visa and  experience of waiting for an application to be approved.

For us,  we applied in may,  additional info sent in September, tipping us over the six month mark.

    +1 here.

    Nomination applied: ~8th May
More info requested: end of May
    Visa application: 9th June
More info sent back: ~20th June

    Not a word since...

I wonder what security checks they do? Mine is showing assessment in progress, how long does it take normally when it gets to assessment in progress stage?

No idea - they didn't give an ETA on when the checks would be wrapped up, or what the checks were.  Guess it's just a waiting game...!

My prospective employer has also successfully applied to have my nomination placed in the priority queue. It was approved 9 days ago. Really hoping it comes through any day now...! It's been such a long process up to this point. How long have others waited once in the priority queue?

I'm in the same boat - been on the priority queue for ~1week now.  I rang them up earlier as there had been no movement, and they said things were progressing with the application.  Apparently the case officer is waiting on security checks coming back.

My ImmiAccount only shows Application Received as the status, so it's interesting that there is actually stuff going on behind the scenes.

  4. Hey!
I dont know about everyone else but this wait is driving us crazy. Nomination and 457 submitted 8th May, employer was asked for more info on 30th May which was promptly submitted and we have heard nothing since. It's now been almost 3 months since the request!

Does anyone have a similar timescale?

    Hey Mhson,

Our timelines are pretty much the same. Nomination application ~9th May, more information requested end of May and submitted back 2 weeks after.

The 457 visa application has just stuck at “Received” since it was submitted.

Hope there isn’t too much more of a wait...!

  5. Hey Frukoz,

If you are from the UK, you are entitled to Medicare cover.

The crux here is that you can only register for Medicare once you are physically in the country. You can take out insurance from any of the private medical insurance companies. Once you arrive, you need to register with Medicare, and then are free to cancel the policy.

If you have worldwide travel insurance, this may also cover you for the initial few weeks until you can register with Medicare.
