  1. I took out ours within 7 months of PR being granted but only questioned the amount we were paying recently and then was told to get the letter from Medicare. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  2. Hello, Apologies if this isn't the place for this question, or if it's been asked previously - i did a search but didn't find anything, but then again, forums aren't my forte. Anyhoo ... I wanted to ensure that my partner and i avoided the LHCL by taking out insurance cover before the anniversary of our residency being granted. However, I have recently realised that we are still paying the full 40% loading - we're kinda ancient - and i was advised to get a letter from Medicare with the LHCL applicable date. The letter came through today with an applicable date of May 2016 but our residency only came through in September 2016 and our new medicare cards started in October 2016. I phoned Medicare and finally got to speak to someone after 20 minutes (longest wait yet). The lovely woman I spoke to stated that the applicable date was EITHER the date PR was granted OR the date of the application (she read out loud from a document she had and neither one of us could make head nor tails of it - something about reciprocal arrangements changing the applicable date ???) Can anyone shed any light on this? Does anyone truly know which date applies? And if Medicare themselves aren't so sure, who else can I turn to? Thanks in advance for any and all comments Cheers
