Great post, we have just turned the 5 year mark since arriving and we still love it as much as when we first arrived, we became Aus citizens last month and this country is very much home now. Prices have fallen for many things since we arrived, I think food prices have fallen as have clothing. I had to go and visit the UK last year and I thought prices were no cheaper there for many things, remember walking round Tesco and converting prices and being very surprised at how most things were priced the same as Aus.

    Congratulations on your citizenship.

That's why people called Australia the Lucky Country.

I'm blessed to live and enjoy the life here!

  2. Never turn up to a BBQ empty handed

If you are invited to a BBQ in Australia, whether at a house, park or beach, never turn up empty handed. Whether you make a salad dish, provide some meat for the BBQ, bring dessert, or bring some booze to go around (a bottle of wine or champers are excellent options), always turn up with a little something as a helping hand and thanks.

  3. Kareela is a lovely quiet and family friendly suburb located just off the Princes Hwy in the Sutherland Shire. It is bordered by Sylvania, Kirrawee and Oyster Bay and a lot of the homes have lovely water views or bush views. The shopping centre has been recently renovated and has everything you need, including cafe's and takeaway and a couple of restaurants. The local primary school is one of the best in the area. Many of the houses are currently undergoing renovations as the original owners have sold and downsized and new families have moved in. Most of the homes are very large, with some great architecture on display. With regular bus service to Jannali and Miranda, transport is easy and it's a very safe place for children. Approx 30-40 mins drive into the CBD and 10-15 mins to the beach.

  4. A great view and a great experience.. a tad tiring though.
While everyone encourages you to take the Bus out of Melbourne for a day drive on the Great Ocean Road, please take this advice with a pinch of salt.
The Great Ocean Road is a great drive and a great view with some very interesting hot spots slog the way.
    Just don't rush through it.
A bus drive will touch all the nice points along the way but that is all it achieves. A 10 hour seating experience is not the best way to explore this great yet simple feat of infrastructure that make this planet so much more interesting. Add leisure to it. Add some rest along the way. Add a night stay somewhere along the route and explore it refreshed all the time.
