  1. Hi guys, new to the forum as I was asking my good friend Google for help, s/he directed me here, which was nice. Anyway, I came over from the UK in September 2015 on a 457, occupation "marketing specialist" which, as we know, has recently been effectively scrapped as a pathway to PR. In January of this year I resigned with a view to travelling a bit, before taking up a new position within the company. I was unemployed for a month and started my new position in February. I was pretty happy to do so, knowing that PR wouldn't be an issue as I'd just apply after 2 years from that point. Ah the benefits of hindsight, if that had not happened, I would not be in this hole! So ok, I hold a global role which enables me to work anywhere we have an office (we have 4 here and roughly 100 globally) meaning that if I leave the country, my role will not be replaced with an Australian worker, my salary will leave with me and I'll simply be contributing to the GDP of another country, not a great situation for me or the ATO. So why have I not posted in the 457 forum? We;;, I know that 457 is not the option now. My company also know this and have offered to support my application for the Direct Entry Stream. Great right? Not entirely, no. I've been on the vetassess site and started my application, everything fine, criminal checks etc, until I get to the point where they ask for degree-level qualifications. Ah bugger! I've got 25 years experience that counts for zilch! I was under the impression that experience can be a pathway to this, but it seems the vetassess site completely disagrees. Anyone else been in this situation and found a way around it? I know it's still early days in the visa changes, but I'm hoping someone has found a way nontheless. Thanks guys!
