My Family and I have recently moved here from Essex UK & have set up home within, The Ponds area just outside Kellyville. My partner is NVQ level 3 qualified in early years and is seeking a part time/casual position with ongoing on the job training to advance & change over her U.K. qualification to the Australian NSW equivalent. She has almost 8 years experience within this sector and is very keen to get back to work!

Any recommendations or useful contacts will be highly appreciated.

Status is Assessment in progress from Dec 17

Moving over from the U.K, Currently been waiting almost 5 Months. Moving out in 3 weeks so my Tennant’s can move in [emoji51] I hope my case worker gets to it sooner rather than later!!!

Seeking advice about whom are best to bank with over in West Sydney & who to use for good transfer rates between U.K & Oz ??

(I’ve recently heard some horror stories about Transferwise and freezing transfers)

A fellow colleague received his visa today, His application was lodged 2 weeks ago! He was told 5-10 Months. There’s Hope yet People!

A friend of mine got his Family 457 Visa today From U.K moving to Sydney. Hi Company dealt with it all and lodged his application 2 weeks ago! There’s hope yet! He works on the Rail [emoji106]

Really.. That’s Crap!

I’m guessing it’s purely circumstantial for each application as some people get there’s a lot sooner than others which don’t make sense to me..

Is there a way of finding out what the processing times as of the 31/08/17 were for the related visa? I know now it states 5-10 Months but I’m sure it was 2-3 Months when our application was lodged. I’m hoping anytime now!

Hi all ! 
Updates for my 457 visa my partner and me !

Visa lodge 30 th of June 
Nomination lodge 30th of June 
Medical done few days after 
Visa granted today 11th of October 
So a total of 3 months and 11days ! 
Nany information requested between the logement and date of granted notification. only the statut change from “ received” to finalised! 
Occupation : roof plumber in Melbourne 
Got the visa for 4 years and we will be flying in a month.

Our visa application has finally been submitted today & Our agent has advised that this will take 2-3 Months to come through (if approved)

My question is, Does this sound reasonable & what are the usual waiting times for Visas to come through?

On another note, Looking forward to starting new job over in Sydney although very nerve racking leaving the UK!

My sponsor has just completed the nomination for my new position in Sydney, Moving over from Essex UK. My 457 Visa application should be submitted anytime now. Can anyone tell me if my family and I will need to appoint a specialist migration GP for Health checks for a temporary 2 year visa??

Hi Guys,

Call me stupid but I'm really struggling to understand the Health insurance requirements to support my 457 application (4 year) due to the reciprocal agreement between Uk & Oz and enrolling with Medicare.

1. What is the minimal term of insurance I can buy to support my 457?

2. How do I enrol with Medicare?

3. What is the best way to deal with the Health insurance requirements?

Are you currently on a 457? Which list is your profession on?

I have recently heard that you can claim back your taxes when you are working on a skilled temporary visa, Can anyone clarify if there's any truth in this statement??

Also due to the recent visa changes, Will I still be able to apply for PR after 4 years on a 457??

PR isn't an option for me at this stage plus I want to try it out there for a year or so and see if suits my family and I. Out of interest, What do you class as a good salary as a minimum?? I'm guessing that you would recommend putting up with the hardships for a few years until I can obtain PR..??
