  1. Are there any nurses on here that have applied to AHPRA. Can I do it before my visa comes through. As in the ID section it says if you don't have an Australian passport you can use an international passport with a current Australian visa. Does this mean I need to wait till I get the visa to apply to AHPRA? Thanks in advance.

I've taken both in academic I scored 9 in all sections apart from the writing 7.5 so submitted that for nursing skills assessment. So sat the general to try get the 20 visa points and got the same results in that all 3 times that I sat it ?. So in answer the listening and reading may be a tiny bit easier but it depends on where your weak areas are. I ended up sitting the PTE to get my 20 visa points.

  3. I've not done the Cambridge but I have done both the IELTS and PTE. I definitely prefer the PTE. I would recommend lots of practice for whichever one he decides to do next. Everyone underestimates how hard it is to score high in these exams, I payed for both the official persons practice with two marked practice exams and the e2language.com PTE practice. It was well worth the money. Good luck for next time.

  4. Thank you Richard for the advice! The ANMAC website kept crashing when I tried to look before, so if this keeps happening is there another way around this that you're aware of?
Hi chrisxl_123 what confirmation letter do we need? I haven't heard about this.
I'm aware that we need to get our transcript and confirmation of our degree from our universities, that will be my next step following the IELTS and ANMACI'm booking my IELTS for July so I'm at a bit of a stand still until that's completed now I guess!
When I was looking into the cost of the 189 visa I've found it's probably going to cost approx £3500 for myself and my partner. Is this realistic or shall I budget more/less? I'm hoping to save a good amount before emigration as I'm aware we may not get jobs straight away. How much money approx have people gone out there with? We'll be looking at renting initially and renting out our house in the UK before committing to selling our house here.
If anyone else has any advice it would be greatly appreciated,
    Thanks
    Zoe

You need to ask the NMC to send a copy of your statement of entry to ANMAC. You have to pay the NMC a fee for this, the request can be filled in on line. I had to phone the NMC 3 or 4 times before they sent mine as they are very slow, I would suggest that you do this sooner rather than later ANMAC will keep it to put with the rest of your application if they receive it before the application arrives so it doesn't hurt to get it sorted early. Good luck with the IELTS.

  5. some advice please. In the begining stages of collecting my info for anmac. So I need to send my IELTS result directly to anmac? How does this work in practice?
I presumed I just took the test then had somebody verify all my documents at the same time. Is this incorrect.
Can anyone point me in the direction of some comprehensive advice for nurses?
    thanks everyone

When you have taken your IELTS and got your results you phone the test center (can't remember off top of my head but I'm sure the number is on the certificate) and ask them to forward your results directly to ANMAC, they do it that oftern that they don't even need the address.
    Good luck with it all.

  6. I'm taking pte tomorrow ,has anybody done both ielts and pte if so which did you prefer ?

I have just sat my first PTE after failing the IELTS 3 times. I think I prefer the PTE but I did find it a little harder to manage my own time and ran out of time on one of the questions, fingers crossed it won't drop my score to much and I get the mark I need this time. I'm losing confidence.
