Test 10th Dec
Approved same day

I spoke to City of Sydney protocol unit today, I was told that the they have invited for approved candidates for ceremony who were approved in November 2020.
As I was approved in January 2021, maybe another 3 months wait...
-
Anybody been invited for ceremonies in Sydney lately?

Everyday waiting for ceremony... coming up a year now since application on 25th March 2020.

Mine was emailed only. No letter NOR any updates on IMMIAccount.
It was also emailed by a random Council worker whose name was highlighted in the email, which could easily be missed, deleted, or possibly go to junk mail.. At least by me..thanks, how long was the wait between approval and the ceremony email? If you don't mind? Which council

Congratulations on the approval.
Could you please tell us how many applicants roughly were there with you. Your overall observation / guess on how many people attending the office each day for test based on how many you saw there in your timeslot ?
Melbourne interview waiting time appears to be longer than other states, perhaps due to its longer lockdown period?
Waiting for council ceremony is another new waiting game.

Hello everyone
Please advise the BEST website to practice the test. I have tried different websites but would like to ask for your advices for the best one.
Is it necessary to purchase $29 to practice the test on AustralianCitizenshipSupport.com? Anyone tried this one yet?
As we are not allowed to fail any of the 5 questions about the common bond so I am a bit scared.
Thank you
Totally unnecessary!

The speed and experience for applicants from Sydney or NSW region is a joke - I encourage every affected to make some formal complaint.

You are so lucky mate. Def 'god speeds' for you. I don't understand what Sydney office is doing???!!! I am going to write to local MP to complain about the great disparity amount states - how can you call this a "fair go"??!!

Has anyone received a test interview call in the Sydney City office? It seems like the city office is sleeping.
I echo your comments mate

Huh, I wondered if you guys have seen this?!
Incredibly high drop in the amount of people being granted citizenship. Obviously Covid has a part to play in this but do you think they will make up the numbers?

I certainly hope so but I don't think so, there is so much each staff can do - what surprises me is that WA has started inviting people to attend tests whereas applications in Sydney seem deadly quiet. In my own case, I think waiting for 6 months without hearing a thing about the next step is disappointing..

Yes - it's much quicker for under 18s as no test or interview required. My son was approved in 4 weeks, and had ceremony about 8 weeks later after I unlinked his account to have citizenship ceremony with me and his Dad (our applications are not going anywhere at present!). It means he is eligible for HELP loans for university next year - so good. If your daughter needs her ceremony quickly then you can ask for it be expedited. Great news!
My son is 8 in my application, both of us still waiting. Seems like the quick ones are from separate applications for the children between 16 yr to 18 yrs.

Hi Guys,
I applied for my citizenship by conferral via immi account on the 7th of June 2020.
Could anyone please tell me how long will it take roughly to get the invitation for the test date?
Mate it really depends where you applied from and your own personal circumstances. Among the latest threads, we have seen people get invitations within 3 and 4 months after applying early this year. I applied March in Sydney, deadly quiet

Hey Guys, just to share you all an update to my application
I applied mid March 2020 and got text sms invite from DOHA on Tues 8 Sep to do the test next week! It looks like the dept is moving fast to process the backlog due to covid.
I am based in Adelaide and now preparing for the exam
I'm studying the material Australian Citizenship: Our Common Bond and doing the practice test from https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/citizenship/test-and-interview/prepare-for-test/practice-test
Can you guys suggest any other practice test that are worth doing so I can nail this?
Much appreciated!
congrats, which city council does your application belong?
