  1. Hello all,

I am currently filling out the Partner Visa (subclass 820/801) sponsor application. I am a bit confused with the question "Has this sponsor previously sponsored/nominated a spouse, de facto, prospective spouse or interdependent partner?".

I previously sponsored my husband's Prospective Marriage Visa (subclass 300), however, my interpretation is that the above question is asking about any other person I may have sponsored other than my husband who was my fiance at the time. I'm interested to know what other people, that are applied for the partner visa from the prospective marriage visa, chose as their answers.

    Kind regards.

Hi and congratulations on those who've been granted their Pmvs!!!

Im amazed to hear they came through so fast do you have any advice as I'm hoping to put mine in this month ( I have to children with my ex and we have permission from court to relocate) am absolutely terrified of submitting the forms!! Xx

    Hello,

Just make sure that you include everything that they ask for in the document checklist. You could even start scanning your documents onto your computer now, as it's a very long process, so that they are ready to be uploaded after you apply.

    All the best.

    Applied 9th of January

Request for more information on 7th March eg Police checks and Medicals for myself and police check for her

Visa granted Monday the 5th of June

So just under 5 months , ours took a little longer because our wedding date wasn't until feb next year so had to leave a little long before granting.

There arent many on here for PMV but recently they have all been fairly quite between 3 months and 6 months but its Case by case and its a lottery, I didn't expect mine until August so when my C/O rang on Monday past i was pleasantly surprised!

Congrats on getting your visa, that was a fast turnaround. For your partner's Australian Federal Police check, did they apply online or post their application via mail?  My fiance received an email requesting that I do a police check and it says 'your sponsor will need to send their completed application to the AFP at the address on the form'. I would like to do it online as there is an option to do so.

Lodged Application 12th March 2017 (London).

Request for medical and police checks 25th April 2017

Sent information by 29th May 2017

    PMV  granted 6th June 2017.

Didn't really expect it to be this quick!! :)

Thanks for sharing. When you applied in March, were the processing times still at 5 months or was it up at 11 months?

    Application lodged Feb 2017 (London)

Request for medical and PCC March 2017

    Documents sent April 2017

    PMV granted May 2017

(don't have the exact dates at hand sorry! But it took 3 months almost to the day)

Good luck to all :) the one thing I would say is that gathering evidence can take more time than you might think as there is a lot of various things you can provide to give evidence of a relationship (bills, tickets, emails, interactions on social media, photos etc), so you need to allocate time to fish them out, scan/screencap, and organise them properly to make your CO's life easier!

Thanks for sharing, that's a really fast turnaround time!

  6. Hello all,

My British fiance applied for his Prospective Marriage visa on 01/06/2017. I wanted to start a new thread specifically for the Prospective Marriage visa subclass 300, where others can share their timelines if they like. The current processing times are as follows:

    • 75% of applications processed in 11 months
    • 90% of applications processed in 16 months

Please feel free to share your timelines.

Its only for dependent family members.

Thank you for your response. I did end up ringing immigration twice yesterday and was told both times that it didn't matter if our boy was independent or not, we needed to provide it, which totally contradicts the document checklist in the partner booklet which states that it is only for dependent children.

Years ago they used to want proof of the sponsor's income, but that stopped a while back. Now if they want it, they'll ask for it as extra info.

Thanks for your reply. I remember looking at the sponsorship forms a few years ago and they did ask about income, employment, and the type of dwelling you lived in (number of bedrooms, etc.) so that's why I was confused.

  9. I'm in the process of attaching documents to my sponsorship application for my fiance's Prospective Marriage visa and it doesn't ask for any evidence pertaining to my source of income. I am currently a full-time student so I had planned to upload an income statement from Centrelink.

Other documents I have provided include my birth certificate, passport, passport photos, medicare card, personal statement, photo of applicant, and evidence of my address (phone bill).

Can anyone please tell me what documents they provided as a sponsor? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

  10. Thanks for your response. I did end up ringing immigration and was told we would need form 47a as it states that the form must be 'completed for each member of the family unit aged 18 years or over whether migrating or not'. But when uploading our documents to the application, there is no mention of form 47a in the menu and the only section that I see where it could be uploaded is under is 'evidence of dependency'. However, we're not trying to provide evidence of dependency as our boy is independent.

  11. Hoping someone here who has had experience with form 47a could help. My partner is applying for a prospective marriage visa and he has a son who is in his mid twenties and independent. Does he need to fill out form 47a? On the form it says 'Details of child or other dependent family member aged 18 years or over' and further down it reads 'This form must be completed for each member of the family unit aged 18 years or over whether migrating or not'.

The way I read it is that it's only if the child over 18 is dependent, but then I get confused because it says it must be completed by each family unit member over 18, whether they're migrating or not.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  12. I've just noticed that the Prospective Marriage visa page has been updated and under 'follow these steps', it gives you a list of required documents. It's different to the previous checklist as it now includes form 80. Does anyone know if we now have to provide form 80 for the PMV or is it only when they request it? I'm getting so confused as we thought we had everything we needed and now we find out about form 80.

    Hi,
We just mentioned what shared things we've bought while visiting each other like half on hotels, one paying both our travel, and buying for birthdays. It didn't seem like much written out so we mentioned that we plan on getting a joint bank account, and sharing bills eventually.

Thanks EllieJV, that's a great idea to mention future financial plans.

  14. Hi all,

My partner and I are in the process on applying for his Prospective Marriage visa and there are questions which ask about the financial aspects such as joint bank account, bills etc.

I was under the impression that the Prospective Marriage visa didn't require as much information as the partner visa as we're not married and expected to have joint finances.

Can anyone please advise me on what kind of information they provided? This section allows for 2000 characters but we don't have much to write in that section.
