  1. 186 is different and 187 is different

For 186 you need to be on 457 visa for 2 years then you will apply for 186. Which is called transition stream.

For 187 you apply straight forward which takes 8 to 10 months to grant. Which is direct stream.

  2. Hi just joined to give my timeline i been following this forum during the frustrating waiting period and it helped to hear positive results on the forum so to everyone out there also waiting stay positive the visa was a rms 187 skilled occupation motor mechanic area is WA regional and my visa took little over 6 months they requested more documents exactly 5 months after the visa application which was police clearances im from South Africa so its a high risk country i dont think it really made much difference.

My ma submitted the regional body application and nomination and visa aplication days apart from each other the visa application was decision ready we just were late with police clearances.

    visa application 06 07 2016

    documents requested 07 11 2016

  3. Understand.

Noted we can apply for citizenship after few years, yet just in case we do not apply, will our PR be invalid ... someday ...?

PR is valid for 5 years. You can reniew before expiring if you don't want to apply for citizenship. You can enter and leave Australia Anytime.

  5. Hi guys,

    Just one silly question,

For the 187 visa, once it is approved,

Will the PR be reviewed after some years or really literally permanent?

    Thanks all ......

No it will not be reviewed unless there is a issue between you and your employer and he/she complain to immi about it.

Max they will ask you clarification like recent payslips/job agreement.

Yes you are. If you have a recent police clearance( NPC by Australian federal police) . Provide them as soon as possible you will get your visa very soon after that.

  7. One step closer nomination has just been approved!! I'm soo happy as we've been told by immigration over the phone and 2 MA's to withdraw and resubmit because my boss sold 40% of the business since we applied creating a new ABN but as of this morning it's approved!

As for my visa they've just requested medicals.

    Nomination 27/4

    Visa 16/5

    Occupation pharmacy technician

    Team 4 Vic

    Congs mate ??

  8. Vic team 4. What about you? I think it will get refused though because the business changed ABN since we applied so immi asked my employer to clarify so we've submitted the reason along with supporting documents from their accountant etc so basically waiting to hear weather we need to resubmit under the new ABN or not :(

Mine is team 2 nsw.pse. Now you are on positive side coz they asked for clarification about ABN changed. It depends on supporting documents you provided. Hope your case officer will be satisfied. Your profession is on demand that's the positive point as well.

  9. Thanks for the heads up! Looks like it will after the new year now then. I think the wait is harder now I've actually had some contact from a case officer I was a lot more patient before they got in touch

There is a possibility before new year coz they are working next week as well. They are just close on public holidays as i spoke with operator. We can only hope. Which team is your ?

  10. Is there an average wait time once documents are submitted?

Info requested on 11/11 submitted on 29/11 the 8/12 was the 28th day since they requested so I know it's not even been a week yet but so impatient now and keep checking my immi account to check!

It was VIC team 4 that had my case

    Blackpool, UK to Geraldton, WA

    RSMS Pharmacy tech

    Nom 27/4/16 visa 23/5/16

Normally they takes 4-6 weeks after getting documents to decide.

  11. Just wondering if anyone is having the same situation. First of all, some info:

    Occupation: pharmacist

    Visa and nomination submitted: 11/11/16

    HR country

I'm currently on student visa till 2020 and I have a Bupa overseas student health cover for student visa purpose. Since I have a Medicare card now for submitting the PR application, I rang Bupa and wanted to withhold my insurance until Medicare runs out which is 11/11/17. However, a lady with very bad attitude told me I couldn't and I can only request a refund after I receive my PR and cancel the insurance. This doesn't make sense to me as I am having both Medicare and insurance. So if I needed to see a dr can I use either one?

    Advice will be much appreciated.

Hi your student visa is active at the moment so you need bupa insurance as well coz it's requirement for student visa holder. If you are going to visit doctor/any medical you can use Medicare to avoid extra payment.
