  1. Hi, I will be applying for the 191 visa soon, having held the 491 for 3 years now..and was wondering whether anyone could shed some light on timescale for processing and whether they needed to do another medical, having already done one for the 491?

Hi I am new to the forum, applied for a visa 143 just over 3 years ago but since applying have been recently diagnosed with Rhumatoid Arthritis, Osteoarthritis as well as having type 1 diabetes for 6 years.   Other than that I’m fit and healthy 59 year old with my diabetes well under control.   My question is how much will this affect my medical, recently had chest x-Ray and other tests, including TB and HIV and all clear.  Also anyone know what the cost of medication for these conditions is?   Very worried after all this waiting and so near to the final post that this may stop us!

Hi, it will depend on the cost of the drugs... are you on a biologic or something cheaper like methotrexate?

Not sure about the visa thing but have you done all the sums.

Also if his a level results are good he might still get a commonwealth place at uni here which is less than international fees.  Add the cost of travel, accommodation etc and it might not be so bad. It will depend on subject and uni here too. Also the system is more flexible so they can do less units per year or more and pay as they go.  My son did this so he could work and live independently whilst studying.

Thank you,  thats really helpful 😊

So you were in the UK? Granted a 491 visa, moved to Australia and now want to send your son back to the UK to study as you cannot get his education paid for in Australia?

Don't be aggressive, the education will still be paid for,  unfortunately we are not millionaires unlike you perhaps..must be nice...also its not like we've not paid into the UK system for years!

  5. I know we are are a away for it being available but do any agents know the requirements yet? ie will be a case of 3 years tax receipts,  new police check or will it be like applying for another visa again with medicals etc? (Found them so stressful last time)

You could use a friend's address, or if you don't know anyone that well then use your temporary accommodation address to set up a PO Box. Almost every post office in Australia has PO Boxes (they are more commonly-used than in the UK), and are very handy if you think that you might be moving around a lot during your first year. I had one in Paddington (QLD) and it was so handy I kept it for donkey's years.

To be honest, I don't fully understand your situation based on the information you've posted. Personally I would check this up on the government's websites, but I don't think you will need any additional paperwork to enter Queensland from overseas.

I've looked and cant find anything but I am aware some states like western Australia ask for other info

    Short answer; No.

I assume your travel exemption has been issued is because you are not an Australian citizen or permanent resident, but you're the partner of someone who is? If you have a valid visa and your travel exemption, then that's all you need to enter Australia. As you're flying to Brisbane, Queensland will be your state of entry, and you shouldn't require any further documentation.

Cool, thought as much..no ...due to critical skills

No problem at all, unless Brisbane suddenly became a 'hotspot', which at the moment seems unlikely. You can also travel interstate, assuming the state you are travelling to has not closed it's borders. The questions on the border declaration form ask if you have been in a covid hotspot or overseas in the last 14 days, so you will be able to answer 'no' on both counts.

    Fab thank you
