@Quokka2005 - I am no relation to anybody on here, or anybody who used to be on here. @Picachu - Difficult, but not impossible.

I'm absolutely not looking for someone to marry for a visa. I never even mentioned marriage. And I also very much doubt I'll get anyone contacting me (I wrote as much in the original post.) Thanks for your responses Quokka2005 but there's really no need to be condescending. I'm aware of my situation and I'm trying to change it. I can do without comments advising me to just be happy with what I have.

Retraining and doing it myself would be the noble thing to do and I wish that it was a viable option for me. In reality, it would be 4-5 years of hard work and financial struggling, learning a skill I have no real interest in and without any guarantee that it will still be in demand in Australia at the end of it all. I'm unhappy and I'm looking for a fresh start and something to look forward to.

I know it's a long-shot but I was just wondering if there's anybody out there who is applying for a work visa and who'd be willing to help me out by taking me along as their de facto partner? (I know it's not as straight forward as just "taking me along".) I know that I'll likely get some disapproving responses from this but please don't be too quick to judge me harshly. I just want to make a fresh start and be happy, and I figure there's no harm in asking. I'm 36, self employed, and have no close friends or family. There's no major sob story, but to put it bluntly; my life here in the UK is simply going nowhere. One way or the other, I will be leaving the UK to start again somewhere new - and sure, there are plenty of places other than Australia where I could legitimately move to, but Australia is where my heart is. I have visited many times over the years and I love it there. I'd move in a heartbeat if only I was permitted to work. If you think you may be able to help me out, please do get in touch. I know it's unethical, but you'd be doing a good thing by helping someone to change their life for the better!
